Excellent chicken! First time we've had their chicken and it was both tender and lean. There was not the large pieces of fat that are on almost every other brand of chicken at the supermarket. It was lean even under the skin where most chickens have a thick layer of fat. There was a small piece of fat on each side of the tail (maybe a teaspoon sized) that I did not bother to cut off since I was oven roasting the bird.

I have been very disappointed for months on the quality of chicken i have purchased from Claxton lately. Ive eaten Claxton chicken my entire life and bought it for more than 30 years and it seems it has taken a bad turn when i cant stand to see what i have to clean, wash, or cut off and dispose of each time i buy some.


Service Quality Poor:

After buying ALL the chicken livers this morning (2/28/13) as I do each time I shop for them; I open 1 of 10 containers and there it is again!!!! An extra large piece of chicken fat! Half the size of my hand!!!! I prepare my dogs meals with the livers. I DO NOT feed them FAT. I paid for liver and lately I've been receiving a lot of fat in the containers. The fat sure takes up good space in a small container where I expect to have liver..... So I phone the store I purchased the Claxton Poultry Farms product from only to be told I'm not the only complaint they have had regarding Claxton Poultry and the livers. I have also purchased other chicken products and had hand fulls of gobs of FAT under the meat to weigh the package down. The store manager was so kind. He explained they had passed on the complaints to Claxton with no change. The store is going to start repackaging the product to check for excess fat!! How costly for them to have to go behind a product they have paid good money for only to cost themselves time and money to get it RIGHT for their customers!!!! Claxton should be ashamed of such carelessness or possible fraudulent acts! I'm really writing to say: I phoned Claxton and spoke with "Bonnie" who didn't have a last name. I ask for the manager only to be told he was in the "Plant". Ms "Bonnie" who is in "Sales" informed me she took "All" complaints. So I tell her the above. At least four times while speaking with "Bonnie" she abruptly starts talking with a coworker, to complain to them that I'm complaining to her!!!! How did "Bonnie" get her position? She couldn't carry a conversation! Then, she only wanted to repeat herself that she handled "all complaints" and she has NEVER had a complaint regarding the above. So I informed Ms. "Bonnie" she has one now and to write it down. The container says " Chicken Livers", not chicken and FAT. I've ask the store manager to keep a list of all complainers for a class action suit if Ms "Bonnie" doesn't take this one seriously. By the way, this is my very first public posting. Ms. Bonnie got under the fat a little with me.
