If you're looking to get a puppy or a dog, look elsewhere!!! We adopted our current dog from here six years ago and the adoption process for him went great. Recently my family and I have been looking for a puppy and we finally found one that we really liked at Precious Friends and were going to go ahead and adopt it. After filling out a lengthy application, we had to wait around for an hour as they interrogated every inch of it. After many questions later our application was finally approved. The next step was to do a meet and greet with the pup. Saying that we had to bring our current dog into the shelter to meet the pup, I went home to pick him up and my sister and I drove back while my mother drove her car home. When my sister and I drove back to the shelter, they said that they needed my mother present to sign the contract even though they said she could sign it next Monday since she's going out of town. So we ended up leaving without a meet and greet or anything. Since the puppy we wanted is to be shipped out on Wednesday, there is no way for us to get it because my mom will be out of town. Their adoption policies are ridiculous, unnecessary, and overly strict. They go back on their word and the staff isn't the least bit friendly. There are plenty of animal shelters around, but I strongly encourage you to steer clear of this one. You'll be thankful you did.
Great place to adopt a fur baby! Not the best place to volunteer if you have allergies but so many cats up there need homes.
Terrible!!! They were holding a puppy for me, they had my application for over a week. They wouldn't answer their phone or email. Then they let someone else adopt her. Their excuse was they were too busy to call my vet for a reference. Such bull!!
i would say don't go there or don't ask for help. My daughter saw a stray cat in our yard on a Sunday, he was hurt we called our vet but they wanted money that we didn't have. So my daughter called the humane society but got no answer, she then called cat are us, they called back and said bring him to petsmart where the vet would take care of him. We had already agreed to keep him, they took him back without my daughter, the cats are us lady came out and said that they were doing blood work and the results would be back in 24 hours, then they would treat his injuries. We waited for them to bring him back for us to take him home till today when we would know the results of the blood tests. They came out and said they did a snap test and he wouldn't make it thru surgrey and they had put him down. This cat was eating , drinking ,meowing, and releaving himself, he would have made it thru surgrey or a least he would have had a chance. If they had told us what they were doing we would have brought him home and waited for the humane society to call us back today.
Yesterday Pepe had to be put to sleep due her being so sick. The folks at Animal Control and Adoption were great. We knew she had been sick for a long time. The vet let us know there that she had leukemia and cancer. Pepe was a fighter and would of been 21 in February. I thank the good folks at Animal Control for making it easier on me to let her go. It only seemed right that we adopted her and we take her to an adoption facility to be put down. Our other cat Little Bit is still looking for her and we are all adjusting to the change in our small household.
