Sam and Sams son has been an independent Jaguar service specialist now for over 3 plus decades! Sam Smyth Imports has been in the same greater Cincinnati (Reds!) Tristate location; serving Symms Township, Indian Hill, Loveland, Madera and Milford for 25 years. Now recently I learned some really neat Cincinnati car history on my most recent visit today to Sam Smyths imported Car Service. Framed on the wall in his office is an article from the Cincinnati Post & Times Star, dated December 1959 Automotive News, page 46, with the news of a new auto agency opening, that was devoted exclusively to sell the Jaguar line and SAAB from Sweden. The name of the company was the Imported Car Center located at 1635 Reading Road, with some of the officers of the firm being Robert A. Cline Jr., as president, J. Grayden de Camp as vice president (in his day, editor of the Enquirer) and Samuel M. Smyth (Sams dad) as vice president and general manager. A complete service department had been set up for all imported cars. Sams dads company was also appointed as distributor for BAP, British Auto Parts, importers of parts for all foreign autos. They were distributors for parts for dealers in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. Talk about history! Their showroom had been decorated by Samuel Aronoff! The tradition continues today. In addition to being an independent Jaguar and imported car service center, Sam Smyths son is the local parts distributor for the Moss Nisonger Car Group, supplying a comprehensive list of car parts, and premier car parts such as Spax, Lucas, Novus and K&N to name a few. Sams business has a lot of history, being established in Ireland in 1934, and his quality of work certainly reflects it. Certainly, old school quality that you will not find anywhere else today! Today, Sam still has factory Churchill Tools for repairing Jaguar automobiles from 1959 and earlier. This tools are no longer available! To me, Sam Smyth Imported Car Service has become a Greater Cincinnati Icon, like the Cincinnati Reds & Bengals, Montgomery Inn, Skyline Chili, White Castle, Saks Department Store, The Flying Pig Marathon, Lindner Cincinnati Arts Museum, Union Terminal, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University and Octoberfest! On a personal note, I did not know that Sam is an honorary member of all the Shriner Temples in Ohio, except for the Syrian Temple, in which he is a life time member! Sam has also devoted time to raise money for the Childrens Burns Institute located here in Cincinnati!
I had to look a couple of times to be sure I was signed in to the correct dealer review page. I am stunned at the bad reviews. I went to this dealership looking for a very specific vehicle. Not only did they have what I wanted all in one vehicle, unlike other dealers, but they had a better vehicle for less than the competitors. Dustin was the sales pro who helped me, and he did so with dignity, respect toward me, professionalism better than any other I had experienced, and was patient and courteous in answering my very intense and driven questions....complete with a winning smile! I also do not believe a female must have a male with her to get the best car deal out there.......Dustin proved my beliefs to be true. I had done my homework and knew what I could get for what amount. What I didn't know is that, with Dustins help, I would come away with even more features on my vehicle for the same (actually lower) price than I had anticipated based on the information I had from Consumer Reports, etc. This grandma-ma could not be happier if I had designed the deal myself! I really loved my previous van, but I believe my new van is going to be every bit as special, and more! Thank you Dustin, for putting me into such a gorgeous van, for a great deal! I would be pleased to suggest Northgate Chrysler Dodge Jeep to anyone looking for their next vehicle. (Hint: there was a drop dead gorgeous Jeep and a head -turning Charger in the show room just waiting for some one to come take them home!)
It was a wonderful experience, our sales gentleman Flint Herold has got to be the best salesman we have ever seen! Me and my husband came in and were treated with the utmost respect. Actually we were completely surprised by how we were treated!; we came in looking at used trucks and ended up with a new 2015 F150. We have bought many cars and know that dealers typically make more money on used cars and our salesman Flint showed us options on several used trucks and finally a brand new truck. I had never considered a new truck because I thought we couldn't afford it! Flint took the time to show us the details and the new truck was almost the same overall cost as a used truck that had 68,000 miles on it. Even though Flint made less money on the new truck vs the used one, he helped us figure out which way made the most sense for us/ the best way to help us, and not just the truck that made him the most money. Besides Flint, his manager Ed made us feel at home with no pressure to do anything we didn't want to do, as well as our finance guy Dave, the technology guy Keith and two higher up managers I believe are Jason & James all made us feel like we could ask anything and get an honest answer. Thank you all! My husband really loves our new F150 and we will be recommending Flint to everyone we know and to anyone looking for a salesperson who really cares!!
My first experience with Mission was not very pleasant. They gave me a ridiculous amount for my trade in and I found how much they take advantage of people. I got $1500 for my trade-in and they turned around and sold it next day for $6500 - how do I know? I had to get some title stuff straigthened out which required me to pick up my trade-in to go to dmv and the new owner's bill of sale was in the passenger's seat! They gave me 2 choices on the first go-round there...and within a matter of weeks I realized this car was a money pit, so I took it back and they talked to me so unprofessionally to me - laughed in my face basically - about their 6 month guarantee that they so heavily advertise and were very hesitant to offer...so the next car I got was a choice of 3 - and so I settled for the best of the 3. I thought the staff at Beechmont lacked a lot of polish when it comes to dealing with the public...their bread and butter. My second vehicle was purchased 1-1/2 years later at the Colerain location - a much more pleasant experience! Got a better car and better treatment. Only reason I went back is that my credit sucks and I am forced to go this route until my credit is re-established. Service work - getting ready to see how this experience goes. I will post later.
I've been taking my cars to Mr. Gibson for a few years now. He's a bit out of my way since i live near downtown; every time i think it's more convenient to get service elsewhere i always end up thinking "yeah.. I should've went to Irwin Gibson..." He used to have a shop at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Kemper Road but he had to move out of there because the rent for the lot just got too expense. (There are now gas stations at each of the other three corners, IIRC. I suppose that's the unintended result of doing good, honest work at a fair price. I've since had him service a 2008 Hyundai Sonata in his home garage a couple times where he has a car lift. I enjoyed the friendly, relaxed atmosphere even more; I wasn't so worried about "Where can i walk to around there so i have something to do while he's servicing the car...?") If you want good work done at a reasonable price you can't go wrong with Gibson Auto Tech. If he can't do the job he'll refer you as appropriate.
My 2003 A4 had a really loud rattling coming from the rear suspension, so I took it to Audi to find out what was wrong. They told me my rear shock was completely blown out and I needed to get both shocks replaced immediately, and that would cost over $1000. I took it to Mr. Smyth for a second opinion, and he managed to squeeze me in that day to take a look at it FOR FREE. He did notice some fluid coming from the rear shock, but the real noise was coming from some loose body work, so he put two screws in and the noise completely stopped! He was really helpful and kind the whole way through, and managed to fit me into his schedule. He also took a look at my brakes and realized they were in need of replacement, so I can bring in my own parts and he will install them. Ill only bring my car here from now on
I have been a loyal customer of Douglas B Auto Care for about 20 years now. Douglas has always been honest with me about what needs to be done for regular maintenance and what needs to be done when the major things are due. On a few occasions, when I have been strapped for cash, he has let me know what things can wait until I have the cash and what thing he would not suggest waiting to have done. He is very knowledgeable, due to his 20 plus years of experience. When you have Douglas service your car, he explains what he has done and why. I am a single woman and don't know much about cars, but I have always felt that Douglas has provided the service my car needed with no add-ons to up the price-ever. He is an honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, dependable businessman

These people are terrific and the cars are beyond belief. They are the only Smart for two dealer in Cincinnati but since they are the best that's okay! Sam has been working on my 1999 Series II Land Rover Discovery for over 2 years. He has repaired everything from brake pads, rotors, throttle positioning sensor (which corrected a hill decent/tc/sm error), AC lines, spark plug wires, and the like. The service rates are less than the dealer and he allows customers to purchase and bring in the required parts. He specializes in exotic, high end luxury vehicle repair and is willing to work on any make and model. Sam is extremely friendly, respectful, flexible, knowledgeable, and explains every step of the process in rudimentary terms. He is my Land Rover mechanic for life. I travel 1.45hrs from Columbus for service. Thanks again for everything.
We took our vehicles to Ray for a few years, with seemingly no problems. Then we noticed that when we took our vehicles to him, a couple of weeks later something else would happen out of the blue, requiring more repairs. This became a trend. A couple of friends we have who used him noticed the same thing. When we stopped using him, no more trend. I guess the worst thing was that he agreed to buy an old vehicle from us for a certain amount, but the moment my husband signed the title over and Ray put the title away, he said that scrap had gone down and have us $100 LESS than we had agreed upon. He wouldn't give back the title and totally ripped us off. We will never use him again. Ever.
