This place was definitely an experience I'll remember. If you're ever lucky enough to check this place out, you're in for a treat! When you first pull up to the Magic Castle, the valet greets you and you wait in line to enter. I went on a Saturday with my wife and our brothers and sisters. The place opened at 5PM and we got there a little after that. I would recommend getting there on time or even earlier as it did get busy even though they just opened up. When we finally got in, there was a lobby and a really small gift shop. We paid for admittance and then said the magic words "open sesame" to enter. Our dinner wasn't til 6PM so we got drinks at the bar. They had a lounge with some parlor magic tricks going on but it got full. That's why I would recommend going as early as you can to get the most out of this place. DINNER: Dinner was surprisingly better than what I expected after reading the reviews on here. We got the truffle fries for appetizers. It was okay. Not the greatest. I ordered a 14oz steak. I can't remember the name but it was pretty delicious. The dinner was pretty pricey, but since this was a rare occasion I guess it was worth it. We were celebrating my birthday as well so they offered champagne or a slice of cheesecake to me. I got the cheesecake and it was pretty good and a nice addition to the meal. The service was really good and the food was better than expected. Because we ate dinner here, we got a ticket to the 8:30PM magic show. Since it was a busy weekend, at least we were guaranteed a seat. After dinner, we walked around to go see some of the different areas and shows. Because it was so busy and packed, the wait times were really long and you needed to be in line way in advance before the show even started. This was the only thing I didn't like was the wait and being so crowded. I thought it was a more exclusive place but it didn't seem like it from the inside. We got to watch a few magic shows and up close magic tricks. The shows were really good and an experience I'll never forget. If you ever get the chance to be invited here, make sure to come and experience this for yourself!

This hotel was a nice surprise for the rate and was conviently located near downtown LA and had cheap ($2 per night) parking. I visited LA for a conference last month at the convention center, about a 20 minute walk from the hotel with a few places to grab a taco or hot chocolate from a local vendor and practice your Spanish on a local. The staff was very friendly and helpful. the rooms are pretty standard for an economy hotel, comfortable yet efficient. If you're looking to save money and a place to park overnight that won't break the budget, this is a good option. I'd stay again if I needed to be located close to downtown.
We booked the Comfort Inn because we have been pleased with Comfort Inns in the past plus a lot of places were booked up. We arrived at 1:00 just to see if they could check us in before going to our conference. They readily checked us in at the front desk and were friendly and helpful with directions. I go into Los Angeles inner city at least one a year. I am used to what an inner city looks like and wasn't willing to pay the $300--$400 a night for places a few streets down. The hotel is safe with gated parking.
This hotel was definitely an awesome pick for a friend and I to stay! The man at the reception desk (Michael) was extremely helpful. From assisting us in finding a place to eat, to calling a cab for us, to getting me a band aid for my drunken battle wound, he was so helpful and friendly! He even ran up to our room and made sure our curling iron was turned off after we had already left the hotel for the evening. The room was very clean, simple, and affordable. Perfect for our occasion! Very pleased.
My husband and I did a "stay-cation" and stayed the weekend at the Line Hotel. We had the most absolute fabulous time and felt like we were truly on vacation. The hotel has amazing restaurants within it - Commissary and Pot. Both were fabulous and so different from each other. If you are into nightlife, we really recommend Breakroom 86, which is attached to the hotel. Awesome 80's club/bar! The front desk manager, Marrianne, goes above and beyond for the guests! We were truly impressed!
Wonderful! Had an advanced booking for two nights but arrived a day early to avoid traveling at night. Staff was gracious and welcoming and gave us the same reduced rate we had paid for the original stay. Room was nicely appointed and very clean. Quiet and calm environment. Staff was responsive and friendly, and free breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we've had. Would definitely stay here again if we are here. Thank you, Saharan Motor Hotel for making our visit so enjoyable!
Came to L.A.for the weekend to visit a few friends and since we didn't have a place to stay in we called an hour before for details on age restrictions since we are 20 and many places said over 21 only and on the phone they told us only to be over 18+ so upon arrival and at midnight we get told we have to be over 21, and now we have to start looking again for a place to spend the night now. Bad phone support but good prices and location, so 3 stars until we get a room next year
I spent two night here and enjoyed my stay. The pool area was nice, the staff seemed a bit dis-jointed and they didn't really seem to have a grasp on what they were doing. And free wi-fi only in the lobby?? Please... This is 2013, wi-fi should be free everywhere. I stayed in room 105, where Janis Joplin passed away and the room was nice sized, with a private dressing room and even a full kitchen.
Very Nice!! We stayed here for a couple nights, as our apartment was not ready yet. The hotel is very stylish and modern inside and out. Our room was extremely nice, with the comfortable bed and nice pillow. The bed and furniture was quite comfortable and somewhat upscale. There are numerous dining options nearby. Hollywood Palms Inn & Suites is one of our favorite. Highly recommended.
This is an adorable hotel, situated conveniently to many mid-city attractions (if you dream of hitting it big on The Price Is Right, CBS studio is right across the street!) I've never stayed here, but I've been to their restaurant (southern/comfort food) on several occasions. I would recommend this place to out-of-towners looking for someplace that's more comfortable than "L.A. Cool."
