This rating is not for the service repairman Karim who was on time and sat with me through a horrific 50 minute call to Sears regarding my water heater. I needed a new water heater which after two calls, being put on hold, being told the computer was down and they would call back, which they didn't and finally getting the order placed which was a task on Nov. 9th and today is Nov. 13th and I still have not heard from the installation department. I am thoroughly disgusted with Sears and the company they contracted with Platinum Installation. I have been without hot water for 5 days now, had to cancel my vacation because I had not heard from Sears to let me know when they would be here to install. Called Sears and they called the installation company and they got their answering service and they gave me their number and I called to find that they are open M-F, 9-3 closed on weekends and holidays. I also called on a Monday to get the answering machine again.
If this is the kind of service people are getting from Sears I can see why they are closing so many stores. I grew up on believing in Sears, their products and their service. Not anymore.
Every time I use Sears, I have a BAD experience. The serviceman who came on Saturday waa so involved in talking to the trainee , who was with him , about their lunch plans that he DID NOT thoroughly do his job. The boiler was NOT completely flushed and he didn't properly put the valve hack on-- which resulted in the boiler leaking for 4 days. My basement floor was damaged and my water bill is going to be excessively high-- all due to his negligence.
Needless to say, when my service contract ends, I will NOT be renewing it!!! I'm done with Sears.
I purchased a treadmill 3 years ago with the extending warranty plan. After getting the runaround on the phone I gave up and called the manufacturing company Sole. They said since it was purchased at Sears they weren't allowed to service the machine. I then called Sears back and got a human being on the phone and told them I needed it moved from one bedroom to another and to "service it" or cleaned. Said it would be $109 since my plan had ended. That was fine. Guy shows and says it would be $109 plus whatever else he found??? I said fine because I just needed it moved by the next day because I was having a custom closet installed. He looked at it and said he couldn't move it and that he wasn't told he'd be moving anything. I told him he could leave! What a disappointment! Won't be purchasing anything else from Sears.
Technician came within time-frame, was very knowledgeable, and continued to work on the machine and run it several times until it was fixed. Charge was reasonable. Last time we put an old rug through the machine! - backing fell into the smallest bits and went everywhere. Machine is actually running better now.
False advertising on the 20% off coupon on in-home repairs on appliances. It lists the things not covered but no where does it state water heaters. I had the repair made on my Sears water heater...which I have to do about every year to 18 months because the electric pilot burns out and was told sorry can't use the coupon! I contacted costumer service chat and after a 20 minute chat with Peter Woods I was told I have to email firstname.lastname@example.org and air my complaint. I have, twice, and still no response! In the meantime, I have googled, "Is a water heater an appliance?"...results, YES IT IS! Make good on your offer Sears. Perhaps this is one of the reasons sales continue to drop at Sears!
Repair did not fix my ice maker, was charged $300. Told him it was producing ice before he left. Told me to give it time. Recalled the service Dept. But they could do anything until service guy completed his paperwork - which took 48 hours. They were will to send someone out again to rake a look at it but 3 weeks from the original service "completed". Was not sympathetic to the fact that my ice maker was not repaired during the first time. Poor customer service and poor service repair.
The serviceman left an old beat-up box on the floor of my utility room along with the part he replaced on my water heater. I'm unable to discern if he replaced the old part with a new one or a used part, based on the tagged condition of the box it came in.
When my warranty ends, I'll be shopping for another service company.
My appointment was scheduled for between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on September 21, 2016. The technician didn't arrive until after 5:00 p.m. But I must say that the technician called me three (3) times to let me know that he was still running late. When he did arrive he was courteous, professional and knowledgeable. I have no complaints other then the time frame.
It was easy to schedule my appointment on line. I received confirmation and on-going reminders. The technician called ahead of his arrival time. Upon reaching, he diagnosed the problem and was able to make the repair in no time. He knew exactly what he was doing. Several other technicians came from other companies, they failed to diagnose the problem. I will always call Sears for any and all my appliance repairs.
