There are two limitations for pallet stacking, stacking empty pallets and stacking a load on a single pallet. According to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), when stacking empty pallets for storage or transportation, the stack should not exceed 15 feet in height, which will be about 20 to 25 pallets (each pallet is between 5- and 7-inches tall). When loading a pallet with goods, the load should not exceed 60 inches in height for shipping. In warehouses, 72 inches is the maximum height. In accordance with OSHA standards, pallets cannot be loaded to any height which may be unsafe for workers loading, unloading, and unstacking the pallets.
