Great historic shop in a fun location. Artists are super friendly faces and are happy to be doing tattoos. Whether you're looking for a custom piece of work or decide on a whim you want to get tattooed as a walk-in, they are accommodating on all aspects. They're well rounded in all styles, although I would definitely say this is a Traditional Tattoo Collector's haven. (Founded by Mike Malone, who worked with Sailor Jerry, Ed Hardy, and tons of staple tattooers over the years. The history here is insane.) I'd promise that it's safe to say from an infinity knot to a half sleeve, your finish product will be great and last you a lifetime. They honor the neighborhood by doing their famous "$20 Tuesday" which is a choice of four different fonts, up to seven letters, on the arms, legs, and upper back ONLY. You won't beat that quality of work for that price anywhere else, straight up. They also partake in Friday the 13th every time it rolls around, having hundreds of predrawn designs to choose from, for $20 as well. ((I noticed some complaining on some prior reviews from people who went in on that day and may not even of gotten tattooed. Geez, you're going to complain about a $20 Tattoo's Limitations? Cheapskate knuckleheads if I do say so myself.)) They are fair on prices compared to many other shops in Chicago with a $60 Minimum, which is the ongoing rate for any true established tattoo parlor. Remember, cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap. Tons of traveling Tattooers from all over the world also stop in frequently and make tattoos out of there. You can probably find that information on their IG or FB.. I know you know what those abbreviations mean, ha! Taylor Street Tattoo was one of the first shops I ever had a tattoo hard on over... I'm heavily tattooed and I will always recommend this shop to the people of Chicago as well as to tourists looking for a permanent souvenir on their visit. The location is easy to get to whether you are driving or hitting public transportation. The neighborhood has tons of great places to eat at and check out as well. It's worth the stop in alone.
My first tattoo 9 years ago was by Michelle at Etched in skin. It was a tiny heart tattoo and I was scared to death but knew I wanted lots of tattoos. Michelle was the PERFECT artist for a first tattoo. She was insanely clean, VERY descriptive to what she was going to do, and how she was going to do it and what it was going to feel like. She didn't sugar coat anything but she put me at ease as to what to expect. Last Friday I received my 9th tattoo from Michelle and she has done 90% of all of my 25+ tattoo hours experienced. I do not live in the area, but I will travel a state away for Michelle. I have taken friends, co-workers and family members to Michelle and NO ONE has ever walked away disappointed or with a bad experience. My aunt and cousins only give each other gift certificates on our birthdays and Christmas from Etched in Skin, and then always book our tattoos at the same time. Our tattoos all have deep meaning, and Michelle is extremely professional and considerate to our ideas, all the while making the tattoo as beautiful as it can be with the artistic touch that she is blessed with. I couldn't feel safer with her cleaniness. (She went through a whole box of gloves on one of my tattoos to prevent cross-contamination! ~ Most shops never change their gloves during one tattoo.) A strong, independent, thorough, and amazingly talented woman who I believe has so much more potential that has yet to be tapped. I am truely blessed to be tattooed by her. I recommend her to anyone that isn't an idiot.
Zainab is not only a professional henna artist but a wonderful person to receive services from. Both times I received Henna services by Zainab, I had a more than wonderful experience. During my visit to King of Prussia, I received generous hospitality and accommodation. Of course the henna was more than beautiful. I received numerous compliments throughout the week! After this great experience, we asked Zainab to join us at our big cultural event at Temple University. Zainab spent adequate time with each of our guests and added so much value to our event. The event had about 200 guests and Zainab didn't refuse to provide henna art to any of them, even after her time was over. She stayed a little longer to accommodate for our guests. They all left very happy with beautiful henna designs! She also insisted that I should get henna done even after the event was over and guests have left! Another great aspect of her services is Zainab provides information about the background of henna and gives instructions on how to take care of your henna! A lot of our guests were getting henna designs for the first time so this information was very insightful and useful to them. If you're looking for henna art for any occasion around the area, I totally recommend Zaineb! Professional henna art along with generous and friendly service is guaranteed! Zainab is wonderful for both a private henna session or a larger event.
this place was seriously AMAZING!!! i originally went in there to get a tattoo on my wrist. BJ was the guy who did it. he did a fabulous job, it looked awesome and he was super cool. he had me lay down because i get light headed and he was totally easy going and talkitive and had me feeling comforable the whole time! (obviously a dude who knows what hes doing.) it turned out perfect! exactly what i wanted! i then told him about a tattoo i had on my lower back that was all messed up. the lines were all jagged and smeared looking, it was spelt wrong and it had backward musical notes! bottom line...horrible! he told me he would be able to fix it and thats exactly what i he did! i made an appt and went back 2 days later. he seriously did an AMAZING job! i absolutely LOVE IT!!! its perfect, more than i expected. he completely redid the lines and writing (and spelt it correctly haha) covered up the incorrect spelling and just made it perfect! he used his creativitly and made it look so good, i would of never been able to do think of it. and again so cool, had me lie down and was talking to me and making me comfortable the whole time! i barely even felt any pain. not only did he fix it and made it perfect, but he did it at a very resonable price! i would highly recommend this place , all of the staff there is very easy going and helpful! its just a very comfortable atmosphere. seriously go to BJ...he is the BEST!!! :)

I made the mistake of getting my first tattoo at a tat party, all I wanted was a simple skull and bones. I even brought a pic of what I wanted, It was not good at all. I went to some of the WELL ADVERTISED places to get it fixed, all I got was a the run around telling me "we can't fix it, you should cover it up." I didn't want that. Then one day on the bus I meet someone who had his whole arm done in black and shading, it had architecture and angles, a complete theme on chicago. I asked were he got it, he said go to Bee. I looked him up and went, I showed him the pic I had and asked if he could fix my tat and make it look like that. He said yeah and gave me a nice quote, about half of what I was originaly charged. He did it, OMG the man is truely an artist, it is perfect and exactly what I wanted. After showing it off to my friend and telling them my experience, most of them went themselves, I even had to take my gf's mother because she wanted a tattoo of an angel. They were great at taking care of her and helping research what she wanted, she was very impressed, scored alot of points for that. Truely the best experience I have ever had. I would recommend his shop and his work to anyone.
I had put a lot of work into trying to design a concept for a tattoo and went to Jade Dragon based on reputation and marleting they had done. I wanted help refining my ideas and instead was given a run around and eventually convinced to settle on an existing design I had taken the time to find with minimal modification. Teh tattoo itself was done well, but the effort put in ny the artists was minimal to none and the service was impersonal and I felt ignored most of teh time. The atmosphere on my visits to try and design something was like being at a used car lot. I am about to get another tattoo and have selected a different studio. Already the whole experience is different and more of what I was looking for in the first place. If you want to pick something off teh wall then Jade si your plae. but to get serious individual artistic input and help with a custom design, I cannot recommend them.
I got my first tattoo there 6 years ago and it still looks great.People compliment me on it all the time saying how wonderful it looks. It still looks brand new. They did a great job.I didn't think they were rude at all.My husband went there and got a tattoo as well.June Bug did his and his looks just as it did when it was first done.I plan on going back soon to get another one. They were so great my parents went there and bot got 2 tattoos.Every time I ever went there or anyone I know they were very nice, and even patient because I am alittle afraid of needles.I would definatly recomend anyone who wants a great tattoo that will last and look great go there.I've seen what happens when you go to a bad place that goes too deep, all you end up with is a scared up tattoo.
Zainab from Henna Services is wonderful!!! Zainab did an amazing job with the henna for my wedding on 1/2/16! She traveled to Madison, Wisconsin and patiently and professionally tattooed me and my family and friends for over 6 hours! She is so creative...she can just look at a design or listen to an idea and it would gracefully and beautifully unfold right before your eyes!! She also explained all the meaning and symbolisms of the art in addition to best care to get the most of the tattoo. The bridal design was so intricate and my husband eventually found his initials hidden on my arm :). I wish I lived closer to Zainab so I could visit her more often, as she is also a very sweet, kind and honest person!! Thank you!!!
Zainab is an exceedingly talented, gifted and experienced Henna artist! The number of compliments I received from family and friends were countless. They marveled and could not stop taking pictures of my Henna art. I felt so proud to exhibit Zainab’s handiwork. Most importantly, Zainab was able to seamlessly understand my need to exhibit 2 different religious background in Henna art. Zainab was very thoughtful and intellectually improvised the pictures I provided her. Zainab provided me with 7 hours (6pm to 1am-please discuss timing with her :)) of intricate and detailed full forearm and hand, front and back, Henna. She is courteous, respectful, and just a divine delight to work with. I recommend her 110%! Enjoy.
