So, I've lived a few different places since I've been at DePaul. I've tried the sharing a dorm room thing, didn't work out so well. Second time, maybe a little better, but soon, I was over sharing a room. I still wanted roommate but I needed my own space. Tried the off-campus apartment, it was definitely OFF campus, finding something affordable meant an hour of travel time! Not fun when you have to carry around tons of books or video equipment and it sucked every morning hearing the neighbor upstairs go through his morning three S's -_-; After hearing about if happening to a few friends, It definitely wasn't fun wondering if I was going to come home one day and find myself robbed, I owned a lot of expensive equipment for work. Finally gave in and paid a little bit more to live at 1237 West, best decision so far! Convenient, 10 minutes to class, 30 minutes to the loop, 15 minutes to work, minimized frustration with public transit so much! I love that it's on a main street and that we have front door security. After roasting all summer of 08' in my off campus apartment because my landlord refused to fixed broken blinds....I'm happy to say that after being here for 2 years, I've never had anything sit unfixed for more than 24 hours after submitting a repair request, pretty awesome. I've also never lived anywhere where they have two giant big screen TVs and a pool table in the lobby either! Speaking of things close by, laundry is in house, and not just one or two broken down washers and dryers, try about 20!!!! I've never worried about not being able to do laundry. There are also places to eat, a bank, AND Starbucks to hit up on the way to work, all on the ground level. While I think paying a little bit more is not so much fun, I'd definitely say not being responsible for deadbeat roommates not paying billls/rent (yes everything's included in what YOU pay), convenience of nearby surroundings, and everything else that comes with living at 1237 West, it's definitely money well spent. No place is perfect, but this has definitely been the best so far.

Our HOA association chose Stellar Property Management after our contract was up with another property management company (feel free to ask via PM if you want the name of our previous property management company, they were horrid). Stellar has been amazing to work with, helped us get our HOA in a good financial state, creates a proactive maintenance calendar for our "vintage" building and is an active participant in the well-being of our building and condo community. I cannot say enough good things about Stellar, especially after previously being under the management of another company that was running our building into the ground, and charging more to do so. Mirsad (principal) attends our board meetings, stops by the building to address issues if one of his staff can't get there within 24 hours, and responds to requests in a timely manner. I am very impressed with Stellar's professionalism and furthermore, their knowledge in the property management industry. Mirsad has years of experience and truly understands building architecture and maintenance, and isn't just in the business to make money off of our HOA: Mirsad and his staff at Stellar have truly been partners with us, and genuinely care about the state of our building and association and have given useful, practical advice on short- and long-term repairs and practices we need to put in place to maintain our building and association for years to come. I highly recommend Stellar Property Management--within months of signing with Stellar, I knew we were in great hands. BECAUSE OF THE RECENT EXPERIENCE I'M CURRENTLY HAVING WITH THE OFFICE MANAGEMENT, I'VE LEARNED THAT IT'S GOOD TO RECORD, WRITE, PHOTOGRAPH ALL OF YOUR FINANCES, GUARD YOUR SIGNATURE(S) AND WATCH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT! I HAVE BEEN LIVING HERE ABOUT 19 MONTHS AND UP UNTIL I WAS RECERTIFIED-2009 (FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I BEEN HERE.) I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION ALL WAS WELL! If you are used to poor and slow maintenance, water and gas disconnection and having a hard time retrieving security deposit, then this is the place for you. Allan, the landlord, will call you if your rent is late, but is very slow in returning your call if you have issues with maintenance or if you are trying to retrieve security deposit. I moved out 11/1/2007 and it is now 1/2/2008 and I have been unable to speak with Allan about the return of my security deposit. For the last 30 days the receptionist, Ms. Smith has stated that Allan is out of town. If you have a maintenance problem, it is hard to get someone to come on the weekends, as I was told repairs are done Mon-Fri 9-5, which is during the time I'm at work. The building I resided in at 2814 E. 78th Street is not moderate and also have appearances of mold in the bathroom shower. I received the buildings water bill, taxes, etc. in my mailbox all the time and I would forward this information to the office. When there was drug activity in the building, I informed the landlord and this is the thanks I get. Wow!
Trust. That’s really what you want in a realtor, right? When it comes to the largest purchase you will probably make in your life, there’s a lot of trepidation. But when it came to looking at houses, we had lots of fun. Lee was completely professional, always showed up on time, was courteous to the other realtor even when they were not, and asked all the right questions. We had so much fun that we’ve joked about looking at houses again just for kicks. At our closing, everyone thanked us for such a smooth and laid back process. It wasn’t until afterwards that we heard all the horrible things that could have gone wrong: being sold a house out of your price range or with hidden pitfalls (we love our house and got a good deal), getting a mortgage that was different from what you thought it was (nothing could be further from ours), losing all contact with your realtor after closing (we talk with him all the time). I would whole-heartedly recommend Lee Diamond to everyone, you must get to know him!
I am happy to write this review for Connected Management. We are a smaller association with 23 units in Lakeview and have relied heavily on our manager to guide us through some major projects and legal issues over the past two years. Our manager has always been very quick to respond to all issues and is able to provide us with the instructions that we need to make informed decisions. We have made vast improvements to the financial condition through collecting on debt and using a proper budget; all of which were handled by our manager. They have great online tools that help us keep organized and allow unit owners to get nearly anything that they need immediately. My husband and I will be moving into a new townhome association within the next 90 days and will be keeping our unit as a rental. I will be recommending Connected to the new association as well. Overall they have been a big improvement over our previous company which I will not name.

I'm disgusted with this property management, In Winter of 2015/16 there maintenance crew damaged my 4 Kitchen chairs irreparably.... after 3months they relented and paid for cleaning and reupolstering my chairs. On July 19, 2016 a power surge within the building damaged many residents electronics, and that refused to compensate??? Inside wiring caused surge, and they're not at fault. This building is filthy, stinks. Housekeeping mood in dirty, smelly water. The neighbors are all HERION and CRACK addicts who are thieves who steal mail, packages.... My neighbors apt. was almost broken into with a crowbar, but the couldn't get in. Doors are kicked in, security gates are left wide open, creeps in hallways, disrespectful loud who HATES themselves!!! I can't wait to leave this HELL HOLE!!!!
I have to say that of all the management companies I have dealt with, WTRM is the best! I lived in a 2 br for 5 years, when it was time to move to a smaller apt., they were very accommodating about letting me sign a lease and then move to a smaller unit. Folks complained about the 2 washers and driers on each side of our building; we now have 3 new washers and driers on each side; yes, they are more expensive than the old ones but they not only work, no more quarters. The rent went up each year I was in my old apt. However, it is on par with other apartments in the area and never an astronomical amt. from year to year. And the amenities are better than any other location. The office staff (especially Valerie) have been amazing and receptive. Repairs happen in a timely manner.
GREAT service from this agency! I ended up wanting to rent a condo in Streeterville since monthly rates were becoming increasingly high with the rental properties in this area of Chicago.
