A full 5 star hotel in every way.
Best balcony/lookout area.
Truly a spectacular hotel. Stay 1 night here and you will not want to go back home and you will wish your bank account had more in it to fund a several nights getaway in the Windy City.
It is close to everything important unlike the Trump International which is in the middle of nowhere.
Unlike the Ritz Carlton, the Pen has far better rooms. And the bathrooms are modern and elegant - the Ritz Chicago has bathtubs with a shower curtain.... come on!
Probably at the level of the Four Seasons Chicago or better.

Getting your eyebrows done by Tina is better than a facelift! She is amazing.
Tina is Chicago's best kept secert. I have not found anyone this good at eyebrows since I lived in London.
The Peninsula Spa is one of the best city spas in the country. The service and attention to detail is flawless, the staff well trained and responsive and the ambience pleasant and soothing. In addition the Spa draws on the Peninsula hotel so that they can accomodate any special need - diet, baby-sitting, reservations, quick suit press, send a fax - whatever.
This was my first time getting a massage at Peninsula by ESPA. It was awesome. My massage therapist, Donald, was really something else. He discussed with me prior to the massage on what we should really work on. I was feeling really stressed and tired, but all that went away after my hour with him. He had suggested Aromatherapy mixed with a little deep tissue for my back. It really made me feel really relieved afterward. Before the massage, I got to relax in their lounge area and even take a steam. Everyone was very friendly and I can't wait to go back!
Let me just start off by saying that I am a spa junkie. I have been to practically every spa in Chicago and I would definitely vot The Peninsula Spa #1. From the moment you step out of the elevator you feel like you are in another world. Whenever I am there I am greeted by happy smiling faces and receive the greatest customer service.
I recently had a 90 minute Aromatherapy massage with Andrea and a manicure with Mylinh. Both services were completely five star. I think my favorite part of this spa is their relaxation lounge. They have these amazing reclining beds that make you not want to leave. My massage was completely relaxing. As I tell everyone, you must do ninety minutes. Sixty minutes just does not cut it anymore! My manicure was top notch as well. I love all of the ESPA products they use. I was surprised to learn they are the only vendor that carries them in Chicago.
As always I only have great things to say about this place. I wish I could come here every day!

The spa is beautiful it was my first time there and I was really impressed. I had a pedicure with Amy. Not only was it a wonderful pedicure , she was so friendly and sweet she instantly made me feel like I was talking to someone I have know for years. She is a gem ! I I will be back soon.

I have been to this spa twice, and both times were just fantastic. I have been to about 8 different spas in the Chicago area as well as a few others around the world, so I have a good feeling for what it should be like. For a Hotel Spa and being in the City, this is about as good as it can get.
My treatments were a while ago, but I recommend my first massage, an Uplifting Mint Ceremony. It was heaven!

I have stayed at many four star hotels and the Peninsula Chicago was very impressive. The staff at this hotel was without comparison. Anything that I needed I could pick up the phone and have it within minutes or someone else would be able to help me with my arrangements.

Occasionally, my husband and I feel the need for a retreat but our busy lives don't permit long-distance travel. When the notion hits us, we sneak into a suite at The Peninsula and play like we're on vacation. I recommend the luxury and quality of the rooms, the spa, and restaurants. Quite good service, as well.

Every time I have visited this hotel, I have had a pleasant experience. I have only been to the spa once but it was a wonderful experience. I have visited the bar and Steve was a very friendly bartender. The atmosphere in the bar is extremely relaxing. I have enjoyed visiting this hotel. However, I have never stayed overnight so i don't know what the rooms are like. I can only imagine that the overnight stay would be a pleasure.

I went to the Peninsula twice for a facial and reflexology. I had Erin and she was amazing! I have sensitive skin and she ensured that I would not have adverse results by testing two products in small patches. Only then did she apply the products. She was super sweet and took her time. Next time I went, Erin was booked, so I got Isabelle.I explained to her about my skin and what Erin had done. She acted irritated and impatient and said that she did not have the time to do all that and its not what she does. She then acted quite rude and gave me attitude the whole time. Anyways, lesson learned. Avoid Isabelle and go to Erin!

I had the most amazing experience at the Peninsula Spa. The entire spa staff was extremely helpful and made my experience one I will not forget. I had the Ama Releasing Massage. I am a seasoned spa goer and it was so refreshing to find a spa that actually has services that I have never received. The facility was beautiful and they truely paid attention to every detail. I live in Chicago and will definitely be back! Amazing spa!!!

Where do I begin? I went to this spa for my 30th birthday for a facial and reflexology. While Shanna was giving me reflexology she sat at the bottom by my feet texting on her phone. When I tried to sit up she hid the phone and claimed it was a timer. I complained to the manager and did get a gift certificate, but upon return months later found out Shanna is still working here. At $155 for reflexology is it unreasonable to ask that the technician put her phone down? I've never heard of this before! When I went back the girls up front were so stupid they charged me 11% sales tax on an item I bought. This spa is very pricey, but filled with complete idiots who make what should be a nice, relaxing experience, completely miserable. Relaxing at home would be nicer than ever entering this spa again! Avoid it.

My wife and I reserved a birthday weekend away at the Peninsula, with the intent on indulging in spa treatment. Regardless of their reputation, don't be fooled. What CAN be done, isn't necessarily what WILL be done. Reserving a Saturday or Sunday hour-long massage proved to be impossible. Even for guests of the hotel in the dead of winter. I called three weeks prior, and the only available times were 8 am and 6:30 pm. For both days. Clearly the spa is not for hotel guests, but for the locals who can wait out a protracted queue. Like maybe a month or more. Also, as readers off CitySearch know, the chef at the hotel restaurant, ""Avenues"" has left and is starting his own restaurant in River North. One more reason to bypass the over-rated Peninsula Hotel. Definitely a 1980's product.

I have gone to this spa everytime I'm in Chicago and have loved it. Great service and ambiance. I hadn't been there in awhile, but went in for a facial. Apparently, they switched skin care lines from the last time I had been in and and I tried a Brightening Facial. The esthetician was wonderful and I was very relaxed. Unfortunately, I experienced a horrible reaction from something in the products. Sad, because I never had this happen at previous visits.

One thing I can vouch for is the consistency of quality that the Peninsula hotel/spas offer. I've been to 3 Peninsula locations and haven't been disappointed yet. The spa experience @ the Peninsula is what a spa experience should be... luxurious, relaxing, accommodating, and well-appointed ... the facilities and decor were classic and extremely luxurious - I appreciated the attention to detail in terms of appealing to sight, sound, touch, and taste - spacious locker rooms and traditional roman/rain showers, luxurious white furnishings, fragrant flowers everywhere, ambient music, fruit waters and nuts everywhere, and plenty of staff members to jump to attention when you so much as nod. The massage therapist was very attentive, talented, and not talkative, the massage room was spacious and well-appointed, and the massage/aromatherapy products they used were appealing to the senses. The facialist was wonderfully old-school; excellent facial process and massage technique, products were applied and well-steamed, and thorough extraction/cleansing. Although the pedicurist could have been a bit more thorough, she was very good and the results were consistent. I highly recommend it if luxury, attention, and service is more important than price.

I've been all over the world and had the distinct pleasure of staying at some of the finest places on this small planet and this, my friends, is not one of them! First, if I run into Jennifer Aniston one more time after she's had a ""break up"" I'm going to scream! The rooms I've stayed in leave me asking myself why I even bother staying here, but the music in the lobby keeps me coming back. Very nice live ensemble that have me thinking of the time I saw John Tesh perform Chariots of Fire at the 1984 Olympics in LA. Breathtaking!! The staff is nice and the food is SCRUMPTIOUS:):) I give the Peninsula a rating of two and one half stars...

Yes, the prices are stratospheric. But the service here is beyond compare. From the hotel rooms to the restaurants to the pool/spa, everything is simply top-notch. the staff is always around, but they know to keep just enough distance -- in other words, they're helpful, not annoying.

The hotel captures a somewhat regal essence, with very posh amenities. The guest rooms are designed with the hotel connoisseurs taste in mind. From very spacious arrangments and impeccable service, to a very delightful menu this hotel manages to capture it all! It is very much a scene for the affluent traveler, so make sure to brush up on your well-to-do vernacular. None-the-less, worth every penny!
