I went in for a cleaning/x-ray/exam. aside from having my morning wasted by these crooks, and a few x-rays, i did not get what I paid for. I went in though a groupon deal, which I guess is just a chance for them to give a sales pitch, and not deliver the service they scam people into thinking they are offering. I don't have insurance so when they suggested I could use a deeper cleaning (for 1200 dollars) I said I was aware that it might be necessary, but I would go to my regular dentist where I live in Asia. (80-90% cheaper) Most of the time I was being pitched by the hygienist for lots of services, and being denied my cleaning. the ""exam"" consisted of the dentist coming in and asking ""what can I do for you"" 2 minutes later he was gone and so was I. they should be put out of business. I told Groupon about what happened and they gave me my money back, but my morning was wasted in that disgusting crocodile pit(no offense to any crocodiles out there) SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

Being a college student, its hard to know where to go. As soon as i got there, they were very welcoming. I felt like I had been going there for years. They took care of the bad infection that I had, and explained everything to me. It was not at all rushed. I was never uncomfortable, and will definitely continue going there. Its in a great location, easy to get to by public transportation. Overall great dental care

I had a great experience with Dr. Paguio here. I had a lot of dental work to be done (including two root canals) and they took me through the process surely and steadily, working with me to determine the best treatment process. Now I'm almost done, and my dental health is great! I've also been into the whole process of casting teeth, and they've been very forthcoming with sharing information and explaining how things work. A+. I've never once felt uncomfortable or unsure, they put me right at ease.

I, like so many others, spent my 20's far away from the dentist chair out of fear from unwanted news and poking. I'm now in my 30's and I want to take care of myself. I've spent the last two years working closely with Dr. Paguio and his staff on a ""treatment plan"" to fix years of neglect. Jen is the hygenisist and if Ernie Banks (have her tell you the story) says ""she's the best"", then you can believe me when I say, she's the best! After her cleanings, I followed her advice and have had white tatar free teeth since. When it came to getting my cavaties filled (four in all), Dr. Paguio worked digently to fill all cavaties and to also prevent any other cavaties from causing future damage and discomfort in my mouth. My teeth have honetly never felt better. By Dr. Paguio putting together a treatment plan I was able to budget for my treatments and also know what work was needed to be done. The office is clean, comfortable, and very welcoming. Lastly, you won't find a more knowable and friendly office staff that awaits your service. Leah works the front and assist the dentist with his patients. She's great with getting you all set up and her smile will lite up the room.

I read all of the reviews and went in for a cleaning and really liked everyone and the friendliness of the office. After my cleaning it was reco. that I have my old fillings replaced, which I did. It was crazy expensive. Then, a month after he replaced the filling on my tooth it became extremely sensitive and I had to have a root canal. I specifically asked if I should go to a specialist and was told no that he could do it. The tooth became re-infected a few months later. I ended up having an emergency root canal from a specialist when the pain became so extreme over a weekend. I had to pay another $1,000 for the root canal and then pay a different dentist to fix the crown they had to drill through to fix the problem. The specialist told me I had a ?botched job?. I guess a tooth has multiple canals and one entire canal was missed and the other two were not wide or deep enough. So now I?ve paid almost $4,000 for this tooth. Hmmm, doesn?t seem right to me.

I am so greatful to have found Dr. Paguio and his staff. I would highly recommend The Art of Dental Care to anyone and have to many of my friends already.
The Art of Dental Care has a beautiful office and the staff is extremely personable and genuine. They pair comfort ability with professionalism well.
Dr. Paguio is a very compassionate dentist and really takes all the time needed to explain his procedures as well as let you ask questions and voice any concerns.

Dr. Paguio at Art of Dental Care is the best dentist I have found since my lifelong dentist retired a few years ago. I am as comfortable with him and his hygienists as I was with my original dentist of 28 years. His hygienist is very thorough, gentle and professional. He is a great dentist. After a cavity or a little repair work I have felt fine, ie.. the filling is not sensitive etc.. He is very professional but will not put you through procedures just to make a buck. If he suggests you fix something it is because it really needs to be fixed.
I would not consider seeing any other dentist in the city and I recommend him to my family and friends. I dont know how he is with children because I dont have any, but I act like a little kid in the dentist's chair and he and his assistants are great with me.

Like most, I never really took care of my teeth growing up. Yeah I brushed, and I flossed once in awhile, but never really invested into fixing my teeth when they needed fixing ? thus my cavities and messed up smile. My experience with the Art of Dental Care has been pleasant throughout. I never have to wait long to be seen by Dr. Paguio or otherwise, which is pretty important to me to not have to spend a whole day at the dentist. What I especially appreciate, are the explanations regarding my teeth?s current situation, what I?ve been doing wrong (or not at all, ie. flossing, cleanings, changing out my toothbrush sooner?), what work needs to be done soon, and what needs to be done over the long haul. I feel like most other dentists I?ve had just did stuff, but never really emphasized ALL that needed to be done. This office helped me achieve a game plan for healthier teeth, which is great since I was getting sick of having to chew on one side.
I totally recommend Dr. Paguio, he talks to you, he asks if you ok in the chair while he?s working, and he really invests the time with you as a patient. Office staff is pleasant; Leah especially is great about helping me schedule my next visit and with rescheduling a visit. I?ve had several work done here, from cleanings, fillings, a cap, teeth whitening (definitely recommend) and Invisalgn. I definitely have found a place that I?ll be sticking with!

Three words come to mind when I think of my experience; trustworthy, pain free, & eco-friendly. At the Art of Dental Care they quickly earned my trust with pain free procedures. I also discovered that their state of the art dental imaging minimizes my exposure to radiation & eliminates any need for disposable products. Further, I observed that they utilize computer charting which reduces any paper waste. The office is contemporary, clean, & inviting. Their respect for the patient is evident in how they care for them. My experience was a unique one. It started with a toothache, so I contacted Dr. Paguio and he was able to accommodate me on my preferred date. He also didn?t mind if I brought my baby with me, as I didn?t have anyone to watch him during my appt. time. When I arrived, Leah offered to watch my 6 month old baby during my dental visit. As a new mother, I felt comfortable with this especially since he was within my eye sight. I was seen immediately and to my surprise, Jennifer, the dental hygienist, was great and didn?t touch any of my sensitive areas during my dental cleaning. I could feel my body start to relax. Dr. Paguio then examined my teeth and discovered that I needed a new filling. Before they started, they could probably sense that I was nervous and tense, and Kristin, the clinical coordinator, asked me if I would like to listen to an IPod. Wow! I thought, I?ve NEVER had this kind of offer before. It was great to have the IPod to distract me from all the drilling and buzzing. I felt my body relax as I realized I wasn?t having any pain or discomfort. Before I knew it, they were done. How fantastic to have such a great experience! I never knew such a dental experience could exist! To top it all off, Leah managed to get my baby to take his nap! I recommend checking them out! It's a unique dental experience and one you won't get anywhere else!

Do not let the asthetics of the dental office fool you. I went to the dental office and met the staff thinking, ""this would be a great experience."" I do not have good teeth and did not expect to ever have teeth like Dr. Paguio or any of his staff. I do, however, have a crocked tooth and inquired about Invisalign. I had several consultations and truly trusted Dr. Paguio when he assured me, in fact, promised me, that Invisalign would correct my issue. He told me in no uncertain terms that I was the perfect candidate for Invisalign. It cost me about $6,000 and it was just short of all of the money I had saved up. I did not do the braces because I trusted him and his judgement. As the process went on, and as my visits to him increased, I couldn't help but notice that my tooth wasn't moving as I wished and as he promised. In fact, he even had to extend the time frame for the Invisalign. I know a dentist can not guaranty things, but he promised me that I was a perfect candidate for Invisalign. I could have spent the money on vaneers or braces but I trusted him because he promised me that it would fix my issue. As we went through the process, Dr. Paguio actually seemed to be less interested in me and in the outcome. These were my teeth and he promised me a result. As things progressed, it seemed like he gave up on me and simply said ""they're not moving the way we had hoped."" He made me feel stupid for questioning the position of my teeth and blamed my gums as the reason for the lack of anticipated result. I felt embarrassed for asking questions even though I knew he knew I wasn't happy with the result. He took xrays before we started the process and is the doctor, the professional, he should have known that and been more honest with me at the start. I never would have done this and don't recommend it to anyone. I am writing this not out of anger but as a warning. Please do not take the asthetics of the office as evidence of perfection.

Truth be told I hadn't been to the dentist in over 3 years and was a bit nervous to go. However, Dr. Paguio and his wonderful staff made the experience a true pleasure (normally not the case at a dentist). Everthing is state-of-the-art and what is great was the ability to review my xrays with the Dr. in a matter of seconds on a flat panel LCD screen right in front of me!
Jenny was great in doing my routine cleaning, I will say my teeth have never looked so good! I have already begun to recommend Art of Dental Care to my friends. If you need to get to a dentist you truly should look no further.

It might seem a bit odd to begin a review with a comment on parking availability, but I think it?s relevant; my awesome experience with the Art of Dental Care began with a smooth drive over. I?ve been accustomed to the quintessential Chicago hellacious-bus-trips or outrageous downtown parking prices but found the commute to my first appointment at this new office to be swift and headache free. The building itself is on the corner of Dickens and Damen. This easy to find, sharp looking store-front caught my eye from the curb. I arrived right on time (for once in my life), was greeted by the super friendly, smiley, mega-intelligent staff and taken right back to the chair. What can I say? This place felt more like a spa than a dental office. Tons of paintings, plasmas, fresh air and?space?SPACE! When was the last time you were at a doctors? office that had beautiful windows and open space? Despite the dynamic setting, however, The Art of Dental Care has the best staff a patient could hope to find. This place is like the Holy Grail of dental offices. I should know; I?ve spent a fafillion hours in the chair and the few that I?ve spent with the staff have been as pleasurable as one could hope for. If you care about your smile, take your mouth to these people?they?ll make your ?worst case scenario? into a work of art.

I work for Dr Paguio. I am his hygienist, Jennifer. Now, this may seem strange or unfair for me to post a review, but let me explain. You see, Dr Paguio is also my dentist. I have been a hygienist for nine years, and in those years I have worked with many different dentists in the Chicago area. Contrary to popular belief, my teeth are not perfect and I do have some fillings which desperately needed to be replaced. The problem was that I did not trust anyone to do the work. I am a perfectionist by nature, and I needed to be sure that my dental work would be done right. After working with Dr Paguio for a short time, I felt confident that I could trust him. He has begun the process of replacing my fillings, and they look beautiful. They feel great, and of course there was no pain. An added bonus, the office is just beautiful? when I first walked in for my interview I knew instantly that this is where I wanted to work?I even gave notice at my previous office before Dr. Paguio even offered me the job! And he really put me through the ringer with so many interviews that I lost count! I didn?t mind though, because I knew that this meant he really cared about who took care of his patients. So there you have it? Dr Paguio is the kind of dentist that even a perfectionist dental hygienist like me can be happy with both as an employee and as a patient!

I have followed Dr. Paguio through all 3 practices in and around Chicago because he is the best dentist, period. He and his staff - Leah, Kristin, and Jenny - are super-gentle, ultra-friendly, and do incredibly great work. Oh, and did I mention how funny they all are? I had a root canal and Dr. Paguio and I were laughing so hard that people were stopping in to see if I was really getting the procedure done. Who knew you could have fun at the dentist? Also, unlike every other dentist I've been to, he knows how to run his office. It is clean, modern, comfortable, and contains the best equipment. He has that neat computer camera that can show you what's really going on in your mouth. He showed me the cavities I had developed that my prior dentist never mentioned, and I had been going to that office every 6 months religiously for my cleanings. He put in new fillings for those new cavities (painless) and had to re-do an old amalgam one (also painless). I trust Dr. Paguio and the staff with my teeth, and I will never go to anyone else. I have recommended him to my friends and they are all thrilled with his service. Go to him, you'll be glad you did.

Let me start out by saying that I am a BIG SCAREDY CAT when it comes to dentists. I have had horrible experiences with other dentists. Needless to say, I hadn't seen one in years when I got an extremely painful infection in what I thought was one of my teeth. I held out as long as I could and made the decision to seek dental care.
I made several phone calls and made no progress for various reasons. It was a Tuesday. I finally called the office of Dr Paguio. They were technically closed, but Leah answered the phone. As they were not able to take me that day, I decided to pass on the offered appointment and keep trying to be seen that day. A few minutes later, my phone rang. It was Leah calling me back. She had discussed my plight, pain and fears with Dr Paguio. They invited me to come in so he could at least see what I was suffering with.
That was in October of 2006. Because of his patience and the kindness and gentleness of the staff, I actually make my appointments for cleanings and follow-ups. I feel like they all genuinely care. I won't say that I am not free of dental visit induced anxiety, but at least I no longer cry like a hysterical banshee while I'm walking in the door. I credit Leah, Kristin, Jenny and Dr Paguio for that. Now I just drink heavily before I go (just kidding,). In all seriousness, they are the best, the office is immaculate and they move at my pace. I am never rushed and my best interests, both physical and emotional, are always at the forefront.

He filled one cavity, which I had to have redone within six months and gave me one crown which had to be redone two years later. When I complained that my tooth with the filling still hurt he said that it could take 3 months for it to feel better (what? since when??)! He didn't take my complaints seriously and charged me the third time I had to come in for the same tooth that he worked on. After that, I switched dentists and had to get everything he did corrected. I'm 40 years old and have only had one bad experience with a dentist and this was it. :-(
On top of this, the office over-charged me (they underestimated what the insurance would pay) and didn't let me know when the insurance paid them instead of reimbursing me - instead, they cashed the check and I had to come into the office to get a check from them.

Dr. Paguio was my dentist back in Grand Rapids, MI before he moved to Chicago. I hadn't gone to the Dentist for about 5 years when one day I broke a tooth and needed a root canal. I was always very nervous about going to the Dentist and I do not have a very high tolerance for pain. Dr. Paguio was absolutely wonderful, he made me feel relaxed and unafraid. My root canal was as seemless and painless as one could hope for. I would recommend him to anybody. If I lived in Chicago instead of Grand Rapids, I would still have Dr. Paguio as my Dentist. In fact, I even entertained the idea of commuting twice a year just to keep him as my Dentist. He is the reason I am no longer afraid to go to the Denist. If you are thinking about seeing Dr. Paguio or are in need of a Denist, don't give it a second thought go and see him you will be happy you did!

We live down the block from The Art of Dental Care but we went to a different dentist in Bucktown because The Art of Dental Care was not on my insurance. That was a big mistake. The place we went to looked more like a bus terminal and we basically paid to have our teeth brushed. It was so bad, we drove directly to Dr. Paguio's office and scheduled an appointment.
I was immediately impressed with the asthetics of the office. It's immaculate, modern and you immediately feel at home. Leah is genuinely happy to greet the patients and Dr. Paguio is always there with a smile too. You can tell that they care about their practice and their team. The equipment is top of the line and it all looks brand new (although they've been there for a few years).
My partner just received invisalign and is VERY HAPPY with them. He actually went to Dr. Paguio first and all he talked about was Megan, Leah, Kristen and Dr. Paguio and how nice they were, not to mention how perfect their teeth are. He spoke so highly of Megan, Kristen, Leah and Dr. Paguio.
He wasn't kidding. I scheduled my appointment to get a cleaning (rather than paying for a dental hygenist to basically brush my teeth as in my prior dental experience in Bucktown). And I did this knowing that they weren't in my dental plan (out of network PPO). Megan was gentle, professional and thorough. I even did the Zoom. I was so happy with the results! It's so nice to know that the cleaning actually does work. Leah is always there with a smile and very attentive to your needs. I had to have a crown replaced and I'd challenge any dentist to do a better job. Dr. Paguio was gentle too and very conscious of the fact that I can't stand the sound of the drills.
If you're as happy with your dentist as I am mine, stay. If there's even a hint of a doubt you're not getting the best, I challenge you to at a minimum go to Dr. Paguio's office and meet the staff. Trust me, you'll book your first appointment!

I had not been to the dentist in years and I was embarrassed to go. My teeth were in bad shape and I was ashamed. I have tetracycline staining and I had lost a few molars from neglect, so I definitely did not want to go anywhere to have my mouth looked at. However, I was in a lot of pain and my wife scheduled an appointment. I knew I had to go because I couldn?t eat or sleep and I had a constant headache from the pain. When I walked into this beautiful office, I thought ?I don?t belong here.? Immediately, Dr. Paguio and his staff made me feel welcome. Dr. Paguio evaluated my mouth and saw what was causing the pain and he took care of it. His assistant gave me an incredible cleaning and they made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Since that first visit, I have been back for regular cleanings and other work (fillings, extraction, root canal) and I am no longer scared or embarrassed to go to the dentist. My mouth is in a lot better shape now. Dr. Paguio and his staff know me and my family and they explain the work, the billing, and they are really helpful with scheduling appointments. Two years ago, I didn?t believe I would ever have a healthy or pain-free mouth. I did everything possible to avoid seeing the dentist and I had just given up. Then, I visited The Art of Dental Care and Dr. Paguio and his staff fixed the problems. If you are embarrassed about your teeth and don?t think anyone can help you, you are wrong. Call Dr. Paguio! He is kind and caring and will make you feel at ease. Plus, the whole staff is great! The Art of Dental Care has the latest technology ? you won?t believe what they can do!
