Nothing special

I had something very specific in mind when I cam here - a 4 to 5 inch black platform pump. Regular leather, no suede or patent leather, and a closed toe shoe.

Steve Madden did not have any pumps that fit my specifications, although they did have a couple of suede pumps. The saleswoman immediately ran to get my size, even though I already told her I wasn't looking for suede.

I felt bad though, since she had gone to the back to get shoes for me, so I thought I would humor her and try them on. Who knows, maybe I'd fall in love with them - right?

So after a bit of difficulty, I shove my feet into the suede shoes and they are not comfortable at all - the shoe itself is very stiff, particularly right below my achilles tendon.

The lady immediately gasps and tells me how absolutely FABULOUS I look...but sounded so incredibly fake that I had to restrain from rolling my eyes. When I told her that they were not comfortable she reassured me that ""you just have to break them in""

Ummm...it's hard enough walking in 4-5 inch heels. If it's not comfortable for me walking around for 10 seconds in your store, why in the world would I think they would be any better once I ""break them in"" ?

Needless to say, I did not fall in love with the shoes and left empty-handed.

My quest for the perfect black pumps continues....
