We ordered the pizza prior to arrival. When we arrived a table was ready. Drinks were ordered and delivered to the table quickly. The place has a nice neighborhood feel. Really comfortable. The pizza was hot and tasty. We have been here a couple of times. Never disappointed.

Aweful. Had problems with takeout orders twice. One delivered pizza arrived as if they had carried the box like a book. A $5 side sallad wasn't worth 99 cents. The management is terrible. They hire people who simply have no idea how to talk to a customer. Avoid at all costs. Plenty of good pizza places in Chicago.I think this place stays in business by preying on tourists.

Their deep dish pizza is amazing. I don't know what the big deal is about Giordano's and Lou Malnati's and Gino's East. I think all of these places are mediocre. Pizano's is outstanding. The crust is just right and not too bready and bit crunchy and the bottom of the pizza is a bit buttery but saturated in the pizza flavor. I dream about that pizza. The breadsticks are awesome as well.

When I looked up this restaurant, I loved the reviews! Great food, great atmosphere, fast service. The only thing I can agree on is that it had a fun, cozy atmosphere--loved the checkerboad table cloths. When we got there for a late dinner, we found out that there was a forty minute wait! However, when I had inquired about reservations, I was told you don't need them. We couldn't stay since we had a show to get to. After the show we came back and were given a table right away--don't get excited though, it was 12 am. Our waitress took our order and repeated it back to us: thin crust pizza--half with black olives, half with articoke hearts, sausage, and mushrooms. After 30 minutes of waiting, we asked our waitress what was going on. She said 10 more minutes!! How long does it take to cook a thin crust pizza?! On the menu there was a warning about the deep dish pizza which had a cook time of 30 minutes, but nothing was noted about the thin crust pizza. The waitress assured us it was worth it, so we continued to wait. When it finally came out, we saw that it had the wrong toppings on it. No sausage, and instead of articoke hearts there were anchovies!! We told her that this is not what we ordered, and she had the nerve to ask what WE were going to do about it. Naturally we left without eating or paying for the drinks. Never again will we go there or recommend it to anyone!!! Very disappointing!

Pros: Absolutely love their pizza; best in Chicago (shhhh... don't tell too many people!); it's crushed tomatoes, not sauce... out of this world sausage, great pepperoni, lots of cheese.
CONS: The service, particularly the seating host/take-out could really use a lesson in politeness as you could stand in front of them for five minutes without any recognition. They're nice enough when they acknowledge you, but it's not a welcome feeling to be ignored. One time I didn't give the hostess a tip for a pizza I picked up only b/c the time before I gave a much larger tip that necessary for carry-out, and although she probably didn't remember, and I got a bit of an attitude which I thought was unnecessary. I'm in there every weekend.
Very little space to wait for a table. Still allow smoking even though the bar and eating area are in the same space... that's a bummer that I will tolerate for the pizza though.

I had a deep dish pepperoni/mushroom/black olive. The crust is unlike I've ever had before...flakey, crispy, chewy. Wow!
It's kind of out of the way even though it's close to downtown. You won't find many tourists here.
GREAT service! I wish I new our server's name so I could mention him. He was friendly, helpful, and acted like he was there just for us.

We recently stayed in Chicago over the July 4th weekend. The hotel was right across the street from Pizano's and it was recommended to us by the hotel staff. WOW!! It was awesome. I was worried about Pizza Hut type thick crust pizza but it wasn't at all like that. We were in NYC over New Years and I thought thin crust pizza was it, but after Pizano's... Chicago deep dish is tied with NYC thin crust! And DO make room for the cookie desert, it was fantastic!

This is the BEST pizza I have ever had! I come to Chicago once a year and have tried a new pizza joint each year for the last 6 years. Pizano's beats them all! Shannon is a sweetheart and gives personal and attentive service. She treated us like se were old friends. Don't eat to many slices because the cookie dessert is unbelievable. Thanks for the great dinner Shannon and we will see you next year!

Pizano's is a Chicago Gem! Without a doubt, the best pizza in Chicago. I order it a minimum of one time a week. I cannot make up my mind which I like better, the deep dish or thin crust. The atmosphere is excellent for a casual night out with friends.
