I've been going to Ping Pong since they opened, the food is very good. I've never had a bad meal. I recently moved back into town and I have to say that although the place is larger and the decor has changed, the food is still very good and very fresh. There are a lot of bad reviews on here about the service, I've always found the service to be good. Even when I do carry out the staff is friendly so I'm guessing the people who have experienced poor service may have been unruly. I see the owner walking around the area from time, I need to stop him and say good job!

Although Ping Pong has had its ups and downs ...the quality of the food was never an issue until tonight! My partner and I ordered dishes that we have had numerous times. What we ended up being served served was inedible chicken parts that were rolled up into what appeared to be be chicken meatballs. We have always been a fan of what we thought to be a lighter healthier take on asian cuisine......Evidently this has gone out the door.
We saw the owner and decided to approach him since we were very surprised by our bad food and he said he had just got back from China where this was the way these dishes were prepared . No Im sorry ...No money back...
So $48 later we left hungry ...angry... and disappointed that we have lost our favorite chinese food

I've been to Ping Pong three times now with friends, and enjoyed the food every time, but each time the service was awful. The wait staff each time were hanging out in the back chatting, fluffing their hair, and trying to look ""cool"" in spite of people staring and waving at them from the tables. Each time when we finally got our food, our server disappeared for the rest of the visit. To get additional drinks or items we had to walk up to the bar or host to request them. My suggestion is to dump the ""pretty boy/girl trendy 20's"" servers and put some friendly attentive people on the floor. I'd rather be served by a competent server than someone that's trying to play ""the scene"".
That being said, if you can put up with the ""bimbo"" quotient, the food is excellent and interesting.

They use sugar in the Hot & Sour Soup, Tuna Appetizer, Cucumber Salad! I'm sure of this. It's not tasty at all. Their Pod Thai was mediocre; Bulgogi only so-so. They offer absurd chocolate Fortune Cookies. There is nothing authentic at this place. It's all show, no go.

The food was great, but service and delivery brings a cast upon this restaurant. It took them nearly two hours for them to deliver my food when I was only about four blocks away. I have taken for my friends there to eat and they love the place, but the service is awful. It seems they think high and mighty of themselves losing the definition of providing""customer service"". I would not recommend. Just cross the street and go to Joy's Noodle they are as good as Ping Pong.

I've ordered from pingpong before and enjoyed their food, but I have a big problem with the recent service I received when trying to place a late take-out order. According to all the information I've seen (including here on CitySearch), they are open until midnight. I called at 10:45pm on a weeknight to place a carry out order and was initially told they were closed. When I mentioned that I thought that they were open until midnight, there was a bit of a pause by the order-taker and then he said they were ""out of food"" for the evening. If you're trying to avoid orders to close early, then just tell the truth instead of making up a ludicrous excuse.

Fabulous food! Interesting and varied menu. Definitely a great spot for a nice evening when you can sit outside and enjoy a bottle of wine (its BYOB, even better!). The restaurant is really small so there can be a wait, but its worth it. My friend and I absolutely loved the restaurant!

This is a sleek little Thai (& other Asian cuisine) restaurant. The food is great and reasonably priced. There are a good number of clearly-labelled vegetarian dishes. The decor is fabulous and modern -- something somewhat lacking in many other Boystown eateries. And the restaurant is open till a reasonable hour (midnight), also a welcome relief from the early closings so common in Chicago. The staff are helpful, too.

We were blown away! I had a cicken dish with veggies/ ginger on soft very thin egg noodle. My husband loved the lo mein. Normally lo mein does not have much flavor but this one is a differant story. Sitting outside and watching poeple go by on a nice summer night was wonderful. The review was right. they also have the best crab rangoon. Desert was green tea ice cream that was aslo great. Very inexpensive. $7.95 for the lo mein and 8.95 for mine. BYOB This is now one of my very favarite places. The food is even better than the much more expensive places. PING PONG was a real find.

Oh I have to write in and say that pingpong has amazing food. The sashimi tuna dip is the best food in the world. Seriously. In the world. Everything is so fresh and yummy. And I have had nothing but great service there as well. Did I mention that the sashimi tuna is the best food in the world?

A small little place with a good overall menu. The food is good and consistent. The prices aren't bad and the service is good. There are no outstanding items on the menu but that's okay because it doesn't seem to be what they are going for. It's one step down from 4 stars and two steps up from fast food. You decide what that means for you. Avoid the sushi it doesn't make you want to vomie but it's not really their gig. The Wasbi noodles are good.

Pingpong has a great energy, awesome food and a staff that seems to love working there. They pay a lot of attention to detail. It has really become part of the neighborhood and strives to continue to be one of the leaders in the Lakeview restaurant scene.

Great place to have delicious Asian food...
for a small place there is a lot to choose from and it is always favored just right... space maybe limited, but they will take your cell phone number and call you when your table is ready... but most of the time I am seated immediately, I guess it depends on when you go there...
