I used to go to another nail salon down the street. I was with her for about 8 years. She recently left and I was forced to find another manicurist which is very difficult because there are not very many skilled people out there, at least not in this neighborhood. I have been to quite a few. I compare everyone to Lauren at Lu's Nail Boutique. But I went in to Nirvana and was surprised by the great looking clean salon. I get weekly manicures and monthly pedicures and am VERY picky! I have had a few manicures and pedicures with Natalia and she is really great. She really sanded the bottom of my feet well. She's a little lady so I was pleasantly surprised by her aggressive approach. I wish they used Dabu which is a base coat that can be used as a top coat too that really makes your manicure stay for more than a week in perfect condition (sometimes 2 weeks). I recently saw a woman named Saher (Sah-hare) who was really really awesome. She filed my nails super square like I told her I liked them and did a great job cleaning my cuticle and nail bed (which is really important for me). Nice polish job as well! I am going back next week for a mani/pedi with Saher. I also had a manicure from Rosalia once but it didn't last as long as I expected. But I would definitely go back to her as long as I bring my Dabu and Sechevite with me. Please give these ladies a try, they are really good manicurists! However, a while back I had a massage from Becky and I didn't really think too much of it. Either she has a really weird style or she doesn't know a thing about massages. I have had many massages in my life time from many different people and this was very different from anything I have ever experienced. I wouldn't recommend her specifically unless you want something out of the ordinary. But please try Natalia, Saher, or Rosalia. They will be great!

I am a hairdresser and a nail tech's worst nightmare.
I have actually dated, long term not one but two nail techs in my past and I didn't even like their manicures or pedicures.
I see natalia and have for a few months. I have never had a better manicure.
I am a straight man and I get regular manicures. I say this because I want to encourage my fellow man to have decent hands.
A manicure is not about painting your nails, it's about having hands that women will want to be touched by and people will want to shake.
So get yourself a manicure.
They also carry dermalogica, a great skin care line, might I recommend the ""special cleansing gel"" and the ""microfoliant"" only ues these if they are recommended to you by your skin care pro. Just know that as someone it has been suggested to, who hates everything, I love it.
check it out!

The people at Nirvana are very friendly and I had a wonderful time there today. My aunt and I had a mini-facial, hour swedish massage and manicure - all for $100 each with a coupon on chicagobeauty(dot)com. My facial was very relaxing, and the person preforming it (Lisa) was very nice and took the time to discuss with me my skin condition (I tend to have redness) and discuss several ways to reduce the redness and recommend products. She was going to send me home with samples but was out. The person who did my manicure was fantastic as well. I had an American manicure and she was VERY meticulous about it and it looks great. The massage was wonderful, also performed by another friendly and personable employee. Their other services are very afforable and the appear to run frequent specials so I will definetly be back! Don't let the slightly bad looking red awning out front fool you - the inside is filled with a friendly staff that does an amazing job.

I recently got a ""modern"" facial at Nirvana. I wish I could remember my aesthetician's name, because she was awesome. She was super conversational, and very thorough. The modern facial is a little expensive - about $100 - but worth it. The salon is very clean, and everyone there was extremely nice and helpful. I booked an appointment ahead (recommended), but they take walk-ins as well. I am definitely considering taking advantage of one of the massage specials they always seem to be running.
