I am a cafe/diner coffee shop lover and this place is my new favorite! I wish it was open later (closes at 11pm) but, I love the atmosphere. Cozy, eclectic and friendly. The small ethnic boutique in the back has TONS of cool jewelry from around the world. Food is a little pricey but, that comes with Vegan territory, usually (don't worry, they also serve carnivorous dishes). The waiters are fast, friendly and check on you frequently. I also noticed that you don't have to wait for YOUR waiter to come back, if someone sees you make eye contact, they ask you if you need anything. Great place to bring your book or laptop and people watch. Try the flour-less chocolate cake!

Don't care for this place AT ALL. The atmosphere is not pleasant, it's dingy and not at all attractive. The food is VERY mediocre, I couldn't even finish my soup even though I was hungry, and the spinach pies were 99% dough with just a tiny amount of filling. But the worst part was the manager. Our waiter misunderstood my order, and when I tried to straighten this out, the manager got upset and was VERY UNPLEASANT AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL in her demeanor toward us. I read another review saying the manager was rude.... I wonder if it was the same woman... she's kinda young, dark hair, and kinda short, and SHOULD NOT be working in a job where she has to interact with people. I too, will NEVER go back.

Wed been regulars until recent bad experience. Cashier accidentally shorted us when settling our check, but we had no way of proving it. Instead of figuring out the problem, the manager on duty chose to humiliate us in front of other customers. Never going back.

Kopi is a place of its own design and that's why I like it. Everything's good and although I'm not a vegetarian it's nice to have a place serving food of this type in the neighborhood. I have friends who are and this is great for them. They also have a very unique boutique in the back with wonderful jewelry, clothing, odds and ends from all over the world. With all the coffee place in the neighborhood they're still holding their own, not an easy feat for the independents.

A nice, laid back place. Mellow atmosphere to hang out in--eating, drinking coffee, chatting, reading, whatever--good food, great coffee, and it isn't just ""hippie"" food. Try an NY Egg Cream! Great alternative to the masses of chain coffee ""houses"". Friendly service. Check it out.

The food is good. Really good, in fact. The veggie burgers and great. Ditto on the chevre chaud. However, just forget about getting good service. With few exceptions, the service at Kopi drives me to angry distraction. I've just given up. I now get my own water, menus, and sometimes order at the counter. This place is best when you do-it-yourself.

I've been going to Kopi for about 7 years now and although I will admit that the service isn't always speedy, it's gotten so much better over the past year or so. Their coffee is the best in the city and I find the staff is very friendly and helpful. As a vegetarian, it's nice to have a casual place to kick back and enjoy some veggie food and not have to worry if there's chicken or beef broth in anything. The soups are always excellent as are the nachos and desserts! I'm happy to see this place thriving, even with Starbucks moving in across the street a couple of years ago. If you want great coffee, go to Kopi. If you want to live in a cookie cutter neighborhood, keep going to Starbucks.
