This place is awful. Okay, I will admit that the food is mediocre, but I've definitely had better. The place has a definite ""dirty"" feel to it. The servers all looked like they didn't want anyone to be there. One of them was cursing as I was there with my young kids. No one was smiling. My kids got 3 broken crayons to color with. When I tried to use some coupons, but I said I wanted one of the entrees to be packed up (out of 4 total), the manager/owner said that the coupons were meant for dine in and if I pack one to go, then he can't let me use the coupon. However, if I packed it myself at the table, it would be okay. Tell me how much common sense that made? And then how do you ask someone if they want another pop, and then charge them for each cup without informing them that they charge for each one. I think most restaurants in Chicago offer unlimited refills on pop. I haven't tipped this poorly in about 10 years. This place is very sad, and I actually feel sorry for the people work there as they seem to have very sorry lives. I would recommend this place if you want to help out some people who need it.

I?ve been familiar with this place for a long time - over 40 years in fact. During that time I?ve occasionally sworn off ever going there again, and then gone back when I?ve gotten over the reason for that. But just recently I was again reminded of why that happens. The earlier reviewer who complained about the management is correct. They have a definite ?we don?t give a ****? attitude that surfaces whenever you have a complaint about anything, and over a span of 40 years that is bound to happen once in a while. This time I was told over the phone by one of the staff ?well, we have lots of customers,? and hung up on. So........I guess that was the last time, and I?ve pretty much sworn them off for good now. I get truly disgusted with businesses that treat their customers, even longtime customers, with indifference. The quality of the food is immaterial. In my opinion, they deserve to have a lot LESS customers.

Been searching for a good Pizza joint in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area.
Now I've found it. First I ordered take-out -- delivery was fast, on-time, still
warm, and the crust on the thin pizza is fabulous. I always order it ""Crispy"",
and here they actually pay attention and cook it that way. And, very tasty.
Toppings are also generous, fresh, and delicious. Pizza is average priced
for what you get. There are 4 sizes to choose from. For my wife and self,
we order the ""Large"" (2nd biggest -- and, it really fills us up perfectly).
Last night, we decided to Dine-In. Fortunately, did not have quite the bad service
experienced by the last rater ""Anton"", though our particular waitress was a little less
attentive than the other two we saw. Did not find anyone was 'rude'. In any event,
the seating was warm and comfortable in the main dining room (there are 3 rooms),
which had a nice gas-burning fireplace. Pizza was the same delicious perfectly cooked
Thin Crust we had when we ordered delivery. Only complaint, is that the wine (red wine
in particular) I thought was overpriced. $3 for a very small glass (or $19-20) for a bottle of
average table wine. Probably better of just ordering take out or delivery. But, either way,
this is my Pizza Joint now!

Sadly, the food here is good but the service is horrible. The bad service definitely comes from the top down. The manager, whose name I will refer to only as ""A___"" is rude and obnoxious. We have been ordering food from here for about 12 years now and never had a problem until this manager. The sauce is really good. The menu is pretty varied but the italian food is their specialty, which again is good. However, even if the food was the best in the world, it can't make up for being treated rudely by a manager. Based on that alone, I could not recommend the restaurant to anyone.

This joint serves up true Chicago pizza! Their sauce is fantastic and their thin crust is crunchy and tasty. Forget that Giordano's deep dish garbage. This place uses the freshest meats and vegetables in the industry. PREFERRED CHOICE: Football size, thin crust with sausage, roast beef and onions. Oh, and tell Cassie the boys in the back, round table said, ""Hi.""

This is a great place to dine, whether your stopping off after work or taking your family out to eat. Three dining rooms provides solutions for every need: one with a wet bar, another with a fire place, and another with a coffee bar. The pizza here is great. Thin crust is THIN and the sauce is very zesty. My wife loves the fried mushrooms. Service is good and the prices very reasonable. Definitely a place to dine. Try it and you will be hooked.

I've been a customer since 1957 and have brought every freind and relative there to enjoy the best thin crust pizza made. Chicago has many fine pizza places as I have tried over the last 50 years but nothing quite compares w/ John's. I rate this pizza a 10!
