When I think of Home Run Inn Pizza I think of the original resuarant on 31st street near Cicero Ave. Growing up in that neighborhood we used to walk there order a pizza and eat it on the way home. mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm I can still taste the great flavor of Home Run Inn Pizza.

The pizza is great at the restaurant. They also offer a frozen version in grocery stores which is also the best frozen pizza. just cook it right on the oven rack and its the next best thing to being at the restaurant. I've been in Chicago 26 yrs and its #1.

I can not explain in words what exactly it is about this pizza that I will travel in rain, sleet, snow and the height of traffic to go and eat. It is to the point that I will literally eat at least two pieces before I can even leave the parking lot.
I will choose this pizza over deep dish anytime - HRI is definitely the best in Chicago!!!
I've been eating at the HRI since it was a tiny, one room bar in the 60's, and it was the best in town for many years, but they're kind of spotty these days. You can still get a real good one sometimes, but it can also be average at times, especially at the ""satellite"" locations. If you want the best pizza in Chicago (very similar to the original HRI), go to Villa Rosa Pizza and Resturant on Archer Av. just east of Central near Midway Airport. It's a small, family run place that serves the best pizza I've ever had, and it's ALWAYS outstanding.

Home Run Inn pizza is the best pizza I've ever had! My job requires me to travel around the world, and nothing comes close to Home Run Inn. Even in Chicago, nothing can top it. And the dining facilities are the best. I would recommend Home Run Inn over any pizza shop in the world. And pizza is not the ony thing to eat there!

If you want the Real Deal in Chicago Pizza, Home Run is the place. The So-called Chicago Pizza's downtown are Over rated. HRI has the best crust and they make their own sausage.
The frozen ones at Jewel are great too.
I just wish they would give free refills on the cokes. Get a pitcher!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great pizza. I can't say enough about it, but maybe this will get my point across. I live in the northwest part of the country and travel across the coast back to Chicago often purschase their pre-heat or frozen pizza and buy it by the case. There are several locations and all are great. They are busy serving from the time they open till closing. That says something about the pizza in itself. I am trying to get their pre-heat or frozen pizza in any store in my state. This is the best pizza, once you try it you will understand why. Home Run Inn is the place to be for the best pizza in any town.

I still cant find the place without my father's help. Some of my fondest memories are of the 45 minute drive my father would make to get HRI pizza. I don't know what it is about there pizza....and it could be 'just' cheese. And there would still be none left. Talk about cold pizza for breakfast? It never made it to breakfast in my house. The only thing that ever came close to there thin crust pizza is my friends 80 year old 100% italian grandmother's pizza....btw she still does his laundry....do they make grandmothers like that anymore? HRI has there mother's recipe....i'd bet on it....
