I grew up eating and loving Home Run Inn's Pizza, I moved to Minneapolis, MN 16 years ago and resulted into eating Domino's or Pizza Hut which resulted in me making home made pizzas. Until recently I was told that Cub Foods grocery store sold frozen Home Run Inn pizzas, I was very happy. So now I can have it here in Minnesota and of course when I go back to Illinois to visit, we always have the original.

I've been going to Home Run Inn Pizza on 31st street since I was a little girl. My father would take us faithfully every Sunday before we would visit my grandparents. I've had many many many Home Run Inn pizzas and every single one that I've ever eaten has been the best around. Sure I've tried others, but nothing compares to Home Run Inn! They load on the toppings & use premium ingredients. You have to try their frozen pizza too, it's absolutely the best. The Perrino's Deep dish frozen pizza is high quality and taste great! Great customer service, all friendly people (maybe because they're a family run business). They care about everyone who patronizes their restaurant.

I have to admit HOME RUN INN is the BEST I ever ate, it just taste different then all the rest and the crust is to die for it's not like any I ever tasted. A friend from England said this pizza would make him move to Chicago and the guy who said the crust was chewy & wet must have dropped it in his beer or something.

the crust excellent= lightly toasted
the sauce excellent=not at all bitter, just the right seasonings
the cheese excellent=great flavor and lots of it!!!

i grew up by home run inn. we would order once a week and their pizza was the best. now that ive moved farther south, i have tasted a LOT of chicago pizza, but NOTHING (to this day) compares to home run inn's! FORTUNATELY ive moved back to the area and im ready to start ordering again!
My husband is from Alabama and the first time I ever brought him to Chicago with me we ate at Home Run Inn. Now everytime we come home to visit he wants to go there. He says it's probably the best pizza he's ever had. I highly recommend Home Run Inn to anyone who's an avid pizza lover. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
I live in Ohio now, but I grew up near Home Run Pizza, just over the 31st bridge and every Friday night my uncle would go and pick up pizza for everyone. Every time I go back home to visit, we eat Home Run Pizza. My sister and I have even made a trip to Chicago just to eat pizza and come back the same day, that is how great it is! Some may remember when it was a very small place and usually we would just enter the bar area and pick up our pizza to take home. Now it is much larger. At one time I picked up 10 par baked pizzas to bring back to Ohio. Can't wait to make another trip back.

I have been going here since i was two or three. it was great food then and its great food now. Others try too copy it but dont come close. If you think deep dish is the best, maybe you need too try HOME RUN INN pan pizza. I'd go as far as to say that its the best pan pizza in the world. forget deep dish try home run inn pan pizza. thank you for reading.
AS A YOUNGSTER GROWING UP IN CICERO, MY PARENTS WOULD GET HOME RUN INN ON OCCASSION, IN MY WORLD TRAVEL OF 30 YEARS IN THE MARINE CORPS I HAVE TO SAY I STILL SAY HOME RUN INN IS THE BEST, THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT. HAVE A PIZZA FOR THE HOLIDAYS
I have grown up eating HRI Pizza. And I must say it is still some of the best tasting pizza around. While the location and the ambiance of the 31st location may be difficult for many (i.e., gangbangers arguing a few tables away)I would suggest you order ahead, probably not on weekend day, and take your pizza to go. I have had hit and misses as far as how the pizza tastes at the HRI in Darien, but I don't hold that against them. Sometimes, it wasnt to my taste. Overall this pizza is genuine and worth the fuss.

I live in the neighborhood and I don't take my family this Home Run Inn.We take our kids to the other chains out in the suburbs and you WILL taste the difference. This is the pizza we remembered growing up.Try to go around 12pm to 4pm if you choose to go to this one.The buffet is between 11am to 2pm I believe. There is a very busy park across the street and most parking is taken up by the park people. If your are going to pick up a pizza...park at the west lot across the street and walk the few hundred yards.
