The view and decor of this place make the dining experience highly memorable. For that alone, its worth trip. Take all that away though, and you have an very average Cheesecake Factory...minus cheesecake even being on the menu. I probably wouldn't dine here as my first choice but I would give a fair recommendation to anyone seeking to try it out.
Drinks & Appetizers
The drinks were highly over priced. I ordered one of their signature drinks and it tasted like sugar water. However, they happened to make a Lemon Drop Martini the exact way my wife likes it so they get a pass on this round. We also ordered crab cakes as an appetizer and I have to say that the Sam's Club brand of homemade crab cakes taste better. #KanyeShrug.
I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and it was good. I'd order that again. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection and the pasta sauce was very flavorful. My wife ordered the Chicken Ravello and substituted the chicken for salmon. She was satisfied and enjoyed her meal, but not overly impressed.
So if you take her drink and my entree, you have the perfect combination.
Food is amazing but the wait can be long and the service unpredictable. This is a frequent stop for my family and I when we want to enjoy a nice sit down meal. We have enjoyed every dish we've ordered, which has included: fish and chips, chicken piccata, the BLT sandwich, and the chop house burger. The salads are also excellent, as are the selection of desserts, that is, if you have room. the portions are usually enough to share with 2-3 people. We tend to order three dishes and share them among 4 adults. The second floor location is also really nice, as some of the seating overlooks michigan ave. Be prepared to wait, but know that the food is worth the wait!

Ambience is very nice especially if you get seated overlooking Michigan Ave. The food isn't as good as the Cheesecake Factory, but you can see the similarity. Service was respectable and price is pretty reasonable for the location and food. Perfect place to grab lunch or dinner in after a day of shopping around.

Several clients wanted a unique Chicago desert so I took them to Grand Lux. My children and I frequent here when shopping.
Watching my colleagues voraciously consume the strawberry shortcake was a memorable experience. They all left very happy.
Anytime I want to make a great Chicago impression on my out of town clients, this is one of my first stops!

Coming from Fort Wayne,IN you have got to eat here at least once in Chicago,IL. The Crispy Carmel Chicken is very good and tender. They have great coffee. The parking is $12 with a ticket slip from the front desk with 3 hours grace. Try it out and treat your friends.

I was reading reviews and many were not impressed because it was a Cheesecake Factory sister or the same just another name. Well i had heard good reviews on the CF so that did not stop me.
Someone else said that it was too many tourist and crowded.....Uh this is downtown Chicago!
Someone complained about a 1.5hr wait time on Sat evenings and to go during lunch time. We went Sat afternoon about 1pm and the wait was 30mins.
We just grabbed a menu so we would be ready to order once seated.
We ordered the quesadillas and they were excellent!
The rest of our food was great too.
Waiter was superb as well.

Grand Lux has an extensive menu that continues to impress me. I've been visiting for over five years and have yet to try something I don't like. From appetizers to desserts, you're sure to enjoy the food. The ambiance is classy, but feel free to walk in after a day of shopping in jeans and a tee and enjoy the view from windows overlooking Michigan.
The Grand Lux Cafe is in a fantastic location. Whether you are a guest of Chicago or resident, this is one of the most reasonable great restaurants around. It is owned by the Cheesecake factory and similarily has a huge menu. The portions are huge, costs are very reasonable and has excellent service. The restaurant itself is very unique with interesting art throughout and even a view of Michigan Ave. The lines can be long, but they are absolutely worth it. They also have locations in Las Vegas that generally do not have the same wait if you are traveling there.

I have been blown away by the diner menu time and time again. The lunch menu isn?t all that great but the diner menu is to die for! Great prices and quantity of food; the service is always professional and the ambiance fitting. This is also a great place to dress up for a special occasion as well as taking the wife and kids out.

I didn't expect the restaurant to be so huge! It is very large, yet still gives a comfortable cozy atmosphere at your table. We only had time for a quick dinner here, and I was thoroughly impressed. We had told our waitress how we were in a hurry and our food was out very quickly and was delicious. Huge portions, but delicious. When we were leaving, the wait for a table was TWO hours!! You know the food is good when people wait that long for a table.

We love the Grand Luxe Cafe on Michigan Ave. On our first visit we were seated in the patio, and had a great view and a very ""airy"" feeling. May be worth an extra wait.
The service was great, very friendly and professional, with extra credit to how well our child (1+ year old) was treated and the help we received.
We were a party of four and tried different dishes. Everything was excellent and the overall experience was great. I personally thought the funnel cake with 3 dipping sauces was amazing. I know that's what i'm going to have for desert on our next visit...!

This Sunday my dad and children dined at the Grand Lux. Beautiful atmosphere as always. I wanted to introduce my dad to a new restaurant that I had frequented. We both decided to have salad because their vinegarette dressing is the bomb, he decided to have a greek salad with the same dressing. Before midnight I was hovering over the toilet ""letting loose"" from both ends. Originally I thought it was a small stomach virus, but Tuesday evening I briefly mentioned to my dad about being ill Sunday and Monday. He responded, ""Me too!"" But the children that ate burgers and fries have not complained of any illness. There was something obviously going on with either the vegetables or the dressing. It is such a shame because as I mentioned earlier I have been there many times before, but I dont think I can return because what if my children would have eaten a salad. I will never be able to ease my mind and enjoy a meal in that restaurant, out of fear from getting sick. Tuesday evening I contacted the manager and he was very apologetic and of course denied that anyone else had called to complain, but kindly stated he would inform the kitchen manager about the issue.
