Frank's is everything a business should be, and that sets it apart from most businesses today where pride in customer service, competence and value have become obsolete. The staff at Frank's is honest, hard working, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. I've had three watches repaired there, a Rolex, a Baume Mercier and a Swiss Army, and each experience has exceeded my expectations; watches looked and functioned like new, and even better once the Swiss Army was depressurized to withstand scuba diving depths. And to top it off, the charm and history of the place is heart warming.

I read wonderful reviews of Frank's on other web sites, and decided to take a necklace there that I wanted shortened. I brought it in right before Christmas, and even though it is a busy time of year, the necklace was finished exactly when promised. The alteration ended up costing less than the estimate, and my necklace was sparkling and newly cleaned when I picked it up. The women who worked there were friendly and helpful -- even suggesting a place that could appraise some of my other jewelry. I will return to Frank's for any other jewelry needs I have in the future.

a couple walks into a store with two wedding bands,
requesting engraving. when asked what they want
engraved, they're not sure. they ask, ""what do people
have engraved?"" you offer suggestions, ranging from
initials, initial sets to dates to song titles to
favorite phrases. they're still drawing a blank,
though they are leaning toward initials, but they're
not sure, and they don't know if they want one set,
both, or in what order. these are wedding bands, not
identification bracelets or lighters, it's a lifetime
decision. so you say, ""you think about it, and call
me when you're ready"". you do not bother them or check
on them, you do your work, figuring they will call you
when they need you. they leave. frank's does do
engraving to the best of their ability. they're not
perfect, but they try to do their jobs in a reasonable
amount of time for a reasonable amount of money.
o.k.,they are not very timely, in fact, sometimes they
are very tardy, but they do try, and if you need to
meet a deadline, they will accomodate you if humanly
possible. what they will not do, however, is dictate
your decisions, including engraving, and especially in
a wedding situation. after 59 years in business they
have regretfully made their fair share of enemies, but
mostly they regard their customers as friends, love
their interaction, appreciate their patronage, and
hope to do so for many years to come.

I've been here twice for some engraving. The first the woman was just very impatient - the exact opposite of what good customer service should be, but I got my engraving anyway. The second time was even more overtly rude, so I left without getting it done. Maybe the repairs there are good, but who wants to deal with a bad attitude?
