I'm not a headbanger but I really like this place

This is a good neighborhood bar even though you might feel a little out of place if you don't have a motorbike and prominent tattoos. I always have fun here and the bar food is pretty good value. bartenders/staff always nice and despite some scary-looking tats, most folks are as friendly/nice as you'd find anywhere.

Great Place To Hang Out

I've been going to the Cobra pretty much since it opened and have never had a bad time there. Some of my friends joke that it's like if Lettuce Entertain You owned Exit. Which is fine with me. It has a great atmosphere, the drinks are reasonably priced and the food is good. I think the reason Astrochick heard reggae is because that weekend they provided my scooter club with the location for our rally. The DJ, Allen, played tons of requests from our group and the entire staff were very accomodating and wonderful to us the entire time. Everyone had a blast (or said they did, at least). I enjoy every night I spend at the Cobra Lounge, and think it's a Fist-Pumping, Singing Along With Dio, good time, every time.

Effing awesome place.

I don't know what's up with these other pansy reviewers. I've been there twice, once on a Thursday and another time on a Friday and had a blast both times. Awesome music: old metal, Maiden, Dio, Jane's, etc. Really good food, too.

Personally I felt right at home and comfortable at this joint. It was a lot less pretentious than other places. Chicago could use more places like Cobra.

Not actually a rock club

Checked this out on a Sat. after hearing that it was a good rock bar. First bartender we had gave us same attitude previous reviewer mentioned: stood at bar, money in hand, while bartender looked at us then looked away and served someone else. An employee of the place even tried to motion the bartender over and was ignored. Great tunes on the jukebox, and enjoyed cheesy 80s fantasy art on the walls. Then the DJ started. What the? We thought this was a rock club! Uh, what's with the reggae? Iron Maiden and Metallica on the jukebox, and then the DJ plays reggae? We gave it 5 songs before giving up and fleeing in horror. If you're gonna call yourself a rock club, maybe you should play rock music.

Joke of Chicago

I went to Cobra. I was a bartender for 10 years, am a ""rock and roll enthusiast"", fun, easy going...until the bartender refused to make me a margarita. He told me ""beer or whiskey""...Are you kidding me?
I am generally a beer and a shot girl but was in the mood for this bar staple. I couldn't believe the attitude I got. Not to mention that the crowd was all dudes. It was morbid, insulting, and boring.
Get it together, Cobra. Why did you obviously spend so much on your decor if you are not going to have the skill or means to meet your clientelle's requests? A margarita is not a raspberry chocolate martini. I was not only confused but disgusted by your lack of customer service.
