Update to my review on January 31, 2007. I wish I could delete the review for Ambrosia Catering, written January 31, 2007. Since that time, I recognized that my anger regarding the event for which we hired Chef JP does nothing good for the world. I have worked again with Chef JP and I would like to share what an incredibly different experience this has been. JP Nettles professional behavior and competencies are wtihout question, impressive. I think that the experience I wrote about from our wedding must have been an outlier. I recommend him for his vision, flair, great listening and most important, artistry in cuisine.

We hired this business to cater our wedding.
JP took advantage of us.
JP showed up 8 hours late, only half of the menu was served, no serving utensils were used (no dishes or silverware given to guests), wait staff walked through crowd handing food to guests - things like asparagus with feta (which we'd not agreed on, but was served anyway). It was so bizarre!!
The morning following our wedding, we received a call from the venue. My husband and I were asked to go back and clean the mess the caterer left behind. We/Our families had to spend a good portion of the morning at the site, cleaning our caterer's mess.
During the reception, guests left to get their children food. They returned with fast-food to the reception - it was really embarrasing for us. Although we paid $1500 for a childen's menu and speciality breads/cheeses for tables - none of it was ever purchased and/or served. Nor were these funds returned, as promised.
Chef was defensive and rude to guests and family members. He did not hold himself accountable for showing up late, didn't decorate cake as planned . He showed up late and began decorating cake in front of all the guests - cake was supposed to have white icing and flowers - well, there was white icing and a few flowers thrown on it - As he was rushing to finish decorating the cake (which he'd said would be done in the morning), a child ran by him and he cut his finger. He blamed the child, despite the fact that he should NOT have been decorating the cake just prior to the ceremony. I could go on and on -
This was a nightmare experience - I beg of you to NOT depend on JP to cater your event - he is dishonest and a very good talker - he'll paint a picture of wonder prior to your event, and at the end of the day, - he doesn'[t live up to his word, in fact, disappears with money he owes you.. This wedding occurred 1 1/2 years ago and hopefully, he's gotten his act together. We wouldn't know, he won't return our calls.
