This is the premier martial arts and capoeira academy in the city and suburbs. The level of expertise and instruction is beyond compare. My kids have been taking instruction here for about 7 months and it's fair to say they've found a home. Professor Bambu is an outstanding instructor as are his associates--it's hard to even think think this place is a business. Axe Capoeira has excellent instruction in all things capoeira, both for kids and adults, not just martial arts, but music, dance, all in a mixture of cultural immersion. The place gives a warm family welcome to all, especially neophytes just getting their feet wet in this art. You get value for the dollar, and you will be impressed. I love Capoeira because of this place and you will too. Highly recommended.
I have studied various martial arts on and off for many years at many different schools. For me it's not what I study it's all about the instructor…

Master Chung's Tae Kwon Do Studio has a Rich tradition of Excellence. I was a student here from 4-11 and now I'm back learning even more. Master Chung's true compassion for kids is a cornerstone of his School. I feel Blessed to be a part of his school.
DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! I had my ex take my boys for the free class that was offered. He thought he was signing up for information to be emailed to him and instead was sent a bill for over $3000.00. He is now in collections and was told he has to pay 1/3 of the bill to get it dropped. Who does business like this? My boys have not had one class as we decided against it, but they are refusing to remove this bill for services we never received. This place is a total scam and I will continue to write emails every where this place is listed on the internet until this bill is removed from their records. DO NOT GO HERE!
Good morning I was just tryna find out what's the age for your karate classes and how much is it..Thank u
Don't take your kids here. No discipline, kids running wild, and kids advancing belts without knowing the material.
My Name is Arthur Scott, I train under Mr Hyun for five years from 1975 to 1980, until I left the country to live in Israel, Mr Hyun is a very good person and instructor, He is my mentor, I will always respect and Honor him, He always call me Scotty. I made Black Belt before I left, I went back to visit the school in 2001 Mr Hyun was so happy to see me as I was to see him. I will keep him in my prayers always.
I do a little karate since I was 5 years old.
Aikido and Jiu Jitsu training at it's best on the south side of Chicago. Well grounded in tradition.
I grew up training at Thousand Waves, then left for school, travelled abroad, and have only recently returned to the area. Since being away from Chicago I have visited dozens of martial arts schools, from New York, to San Francisco, to South America, to the Middle East, and while I have liked many of the experiences I've had, I can honestly say that there is not a single one that comes close to providing what Thousand Waves provides to its students, families, participants, and community. It gave me self-confidence, physical and mental strength and agility, and a way to address violence without being overwhelmed by it, among many many other things. It has been a truly life-defining experience for me, and I am certainly not alone in this assessment. :)
