I don't go downtown much because I like driving, but I don't like driving downtown. So this was my first trip to the Harris Theater, to see Jay and Silent Bob Get Old. I love their podcast and I've wanted to see it live and when I heard they were coming to Chicago, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Parking was a little difficult to find, but I eventually found underground parking near the theater. Parking was $16 validated, which I hear isn't too bad for downtown. Parking in enclosed spaces is always fun when you have a nice exhaust rumble coming from your car :) The auditorium was nice and clean and although the seating is a little crowded, how else are you going to get 1000+ people packed in? There were a lot of people around to help you get where you needed to go, which was nice because I didn't know where I was going. My biggest gripe about the theater was that they don't have a lot of food options. Luckily, I was early enough so that I walked a couple blocks and got food before the show. Overall, not a bad place and I hope they can offer more in terms of food.
Not too many theatres still remain like the logan theatre in chicago... There's a parking lot practically across the street which only costs a couple of dollars (honor system) for a 2 hour movie... The theatre itself is smaller and shows second (third?) run movies but who cares? it's 3 bucks... I always try to come to this theatre--not only because I'm thrifty, but because I want to support the regular guys who run it.. not a major corporation like lowes or amc... all-in-all-- a great deal for your buck, and a little slice of Chicago history to boot!
Phone number sends caller to pulse Dial TONE. This theater is a Chicago relic. The structure itself Is immaculate poetry and artistry. Details are in abundance and the eyes capture all the glory of the designers vision. At least that's the way I suppose the architect who had the Vision to make the Patio theater a venue in the first place would have thought I only SUPPOSE THOUGH;-0
One of the best ways to see what is wonderful about Chicago! Who says Shakespeare is outdated and boring? This amazing group creates world-class productions of Shakespeare's plays set in different times in history. Using the exact words from his plays, it is just the settings that change, so we see that indeed these great words are timeless!
Ragstock is a great place to find everything from graphic tshirts to halloween costumes at reasonable prices. They also have shoes and some accessories for sale, as well as clothes for men and women. You have to sift through a lot of clothes to find something good, but the prices are worth it. A great addition to the neighborhood.
A Movie Viewers Dream Come True! Staff treated me like royalty! I will definitely return and I recommend you go! Although this movie stadium is 10.4 miles from my home and it will take me 52 minutes on public transportation to arrive at theater, the experience is worth it. The customer service is PRICELESS!
Wow, this is the most incredible science museum. If I had a long layover in Chicago, I would head here all day. The exhibits are exciting, and the museum is well-done. The only pain about it is not the most accessible museum via public transportation. The busses run on an inconsistent schedule.
Love their happy hour deal where you get their buffet after buying two cocktails! Great place for after-work drinks. Also, Rosebud Express, right next door, has quick and delicious breakfast & lunch at very affordable prices. Every time I've been to either restaurant, I had excellent service.
This museum is one of the finest in the country. My child keeps asking to return to Chicago, just to visit this museum all day! If you are from flying from one side of the country to another, I recommend stopping in Chicago to spend all day at this museum.
A must see when visiting Chicago. Plenty of shops and places to eat at Navy Pier but a walk along the pier looking over the lake and the city is awesome. The Ferris wheel offers a excellent view and is a must as well. Take your time and enjoy!!!
