I stopped in to Bad Dog Tavern for a bite before a concert I was attending accross the street. I had just arrived from the Detroit area and was hungy!I found the place a little dark on inside from the middle of the bar back but was greeted by a friendly hostess and seated by the open windows at front of the bar. Could see much better there. The menue looked yummy and the drinks sounded great. My waitress came to take my drink and food orders and was very pleasant as well and was happy to help me select a drink. The food didn't take too long to arrive. Looked great tasted great!I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich which had cheese and roasted red peppers on it as well. There was some of the seed/membrane on one of the pepper strips and could've used a bit more of the pesto but overall the sandwich was tasty. Tender chicken, plenty of cheese, fresh bread. The sandwich was served with yummy lightly seasoned fries that also had bits of (what I'm guessing was) parmisan cheese and a crisp dill pickle spear. My drink was delicious as well (got some kind of tropical mix - sorry I can't remmeber the name of it). Bad Dog Tavern is in a neat part of town so it was also fun to watch the people that were walking around the neighborhood. A nice mix of folks. Good, friendly service. Fresh, yummy food. Good seating. Very reasonably priced for Chicago!
The room was pretty good. The parking situation was awful. The parking is really off site about 2 blocks away. There are 2 ways to get to the parking, down a weird and scary alley way with a few clubs or walk around 2 blocks away. Needless to say it was a bit cold and we were freezing along with my small daughter. If you have kids do not stay here...it is club city outside the hotel and loud club goers who stay in the hotel. This hotel is a definite place to stay if you want to party downtown but not for relaxing with family. The front desk personnel and valet personnel were pretty friendly. Valet parking should be free here but it is 62.00. If I had stayed alone with my daughter I would have been forced to pay for valet parking because there is no way I would have walked that far to park and walk back alone from the parking to the hotel. Very loud....so loud the room has a little sign by the bed with free earplugs.
The Carlton Inn was perfect for our overnight stay. We needed a pet friendly hotel near Midway for the night before our flight. Somewhere that would accommodate us and our 2 small dogs (Maltese). The room was very very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were consistently wonderful. I've travelled the globe extensively on business and can honestly say that all of the the staff we interacted with at the Carlton were as friendly, helpful and accommodating as any 5 star hotel I've stayed in.The Carlton is a 2-star hotel, but the room was very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was a surprise because, though simple was quite varied and good.We took the shuttle to Midway. We had 5 suitcases plus the 2 dogs and their in-cabin carriers. The driver picked us up outside our room and was helpful with the bags. The Carlton was perfect for our needs and perfect for our night before our flight.
I was only here for a couple of hours on lay-a-way, waiting for the shuttle bus to take me to O'hare Airport. The lobby was well maintained and clean. There are 2 bathrooms in the lobby, one near the restaurant and the other, just passed over the reception area, right by those conference halls. they also have ATM machines here. The bus shuttle driver will come over and announce if they are going to leave to the airport. Nice hotel to catch up with emails, phone call, etc.
I'm just visiting Chicago this is my first time and I thought they had outstanding customer service. The waiters and waitresses were really nice and the manager let us know when we came for brunch but there's about 15 more minutes before it closed for lunch but as long as we got our order and they would still make us breakfast which I thought was nice the food was really good it had a really great atmosphere definitely recommend checking it out
I stayed in a room with a bathroom and shower included for $60 a night. Frank was at the front desk and he was very friendly and understood our situation. He allowed us to leave a few hours after checkout time because we were running late. He was totally understanding of our situation in which he was extremely courteous and professional. Thanks Carling Hotel.
Great place to go for weekend brunch. They have a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar with great garnishments and homemade tomato juice and variety juices. The food is decent. Not very family friendly as all the tables are high tops. We went once in the evening and the bartenders were very friendly and offered great suggestions on drinks.
Go and get a room. My experience was wonderful. The price was right for 2 days. It"s just an old fashion motel with comfort qualities. Next time I go will be with a friend!!!!!!!!! Love the location and bus service right at the door. Service was great.
A great new historic hotel in downtown Chicago. The hotel us beautiful and has a really fun vibe with lots of neat historical preservation. The rooms are small but fine for the 2 of us traveling together. Be sure to try brunch at Cindy's. It's fabulous!
An amazing Chicago experience. Visit around the holidays for amazing decor and a gingerbread village that will put you in the Christmas spirit. Great service, fun old school bars with classic drinks. As they say, the real Chicago.
