It's a beautiful library on the inside. The Branch Manager Dewana was not helpful or resourceful, and the office was so very unkempt & cluttered. Those points contributed to difficulty in accessing the library's resources. What a waste due to mismanagement.
OMG, I grew up at this library. That's how I scored high enough on the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) for the U.S. Air Force to really try to recruit me. That worked! Which is how I became a Veteran. I love the Harold Washington Library.
Huge library. Plenty of space. Many electrical outlets, and FAST WIRELESS INTERNET! Quiet, peaceful, friendly. There are a few quiet study rooms on the southeast corner of the 8th floor for even more solitude if you need it.cellphone service is not great either - a major plus at a library!I visit the central library of every city I travel to and this is the best I've been to thus far.
Our youngest son, age 3, has been attending for a month. He has made noticeable improvements in his fine motor skills such as tracing lines (letters, shapes, numbers), using spoon and fork, and putting on/taking off his shoes. Everything is high quality: staff, environment, curriculum, communication. Moving him from his previous day care to Gardner School has been the best decision we had made for him.
We enrolled our son as soon as the West Loop school opened and will always cherish our experience there. The director and especially his teacher, Miss. Jessica, created an environment of love and respect among the children. His development both emotionally and intellectually has set him far ahead of his peers now that we have relocated. Thank You TGS!
The librarians have always been very helpful and willing to share information and they offer suggestions on books for my children.
