BOOKPLATE is a traditional general stock bookstore offering a wide range of books in a broad array of categories. We emphasize the local history of the Chesapeake Bay region with a strong focas of books relating to the history and literature of Maryland's Eastern Shore as well as its colonial and revolutionary heritage. Located in historic Chesertown and situated on thembanks of the Chester River with the Chesapeake Bay a few miles away, Bookplate has an expanded section on maritime history, exploration, sailing, navigation, nautical fiction and tales of the sea. We also carry books for the maritime trade. World history, politics, and war and diplomacy are well represented with an emphasis on the Middle East, Southeast Asia and China. the fields of art, architecture, design and the decorative arts are well stocked with a large selection of books, monographs and exhibition catalogues on the textiles of Central Asia. Bookplate hosts the annual Kent county Poetry Festival, a hugely successful event co-sponsored with Wasshington College and the Kent County Arts Council, and maintains an extensive poetry section, antthology collections, as well qas books on literary criticism.
