I just interviewed with the GM, Kurt, after responding to a Craigslist ad for servers. I was contacted by a very polite gentleman named Ryan who had read over my email and attached resume. He set up an interview for me with the GM, aforementioned Kurt. I arrived twenty minutes early, coming straight from my job (as a server). I filled out an application and waited for Kurt. He arrived at the booth I was seated at in a brusque manner, waving off listening to any attributes or job related abilities I have to ask how I would be able to possibly work as a server there without knowing their required 20 step wine service, their list of 100 wines and without knowing all classic American cocktails. He implied that I was incapable of learning about any of this while mentioning that they do train their servers in these things. He said that he recognized my drive and determination, but felt that I couldn't make it in his caliber restaurant and that he would have to find a more menial position for me other than serving. These things are literally what he told me. That no matter what, I wouldn't do well in training and essentially that I could only be a busser or dishwasher because I do not have complete knowledge of their hundred different wines. I encourage, nay beg, of you to visit this establishment and put your server through the paces of the complete wine list because I'm fairly certain the real reason that I wasn't hired was due to the fact that I don't fit into Kurt's mold of model height, big breasted and bimbo-ish, judging from the orientation class he was rushing me to get to.
