My husband and I dined here the weekend of our birthday 5/14/11. Our birthday is 5/16/11. After reading the reviews, I was persuaded to have the shrimp and grits, and let me tell you, the reviews did not let me down! that dish was the bomb! lol My husband had the red velvet waffle and fruit...it was to die for! we plan on making this one of our staple restaurants. The prices are a little steep, but welll worth it. The waiter was excellent and was very knowledgable of the different foods on the menu. I encourage any and everyone to try it just once.... you want regret it!!!! :O)

Since my first dining experience at Terrace Cafe about a year ago, I have been a fan. I have taken numerous friends, colleagues and recommended this to countless people as a golden gem.
I am hooked on the Shrimp and Grits (New Orleans style). The breakfast fare is fantastic, but the only item I see is Shrimp and Grits. Its always piping hot, creamy, zesty and the perfect blend of taste, nutrition (ha!) and gastronomical satisfaction.
While all Service staff are not created equal, I have never received bad service. Some may be slower to respond or less attention to detail, but there is much more to service than the obvious. I appreciate a warm smile, an accomodating atitude and a smooth upsell. Afterall, that's the food industry. Hospitaltiy at its best is when you get that dessert or extra item not originally on your mind and as you say yes, your're wondering how your mind went against you.
On a business level, I needed to book our salon holiday celebration. We had procrastinated (hello! economy?) and was one week shy of our decided date. One call and Michael was on it. He was pleasant, willing to work with our moderate budget and even made suggestions to make us feel special (like placing us on the inside veranda, exclusively). My demands were the usual, alot for what I was working with. When I arrived, the table was set. Oh, I forgot, he even created personal menus with our logo to personalize the event. I consider Mike a true hospitality professional.
Dean was our Server and he greeted and catered to each guest. The Coconut Crab Cakes were golden brown and a perfect serving portion with the blend of spices and condiments to make this dish a perfect selection. The salmon portions were huge and each plate perfectly laid in presentation. I'm not only a fan anymore, I'm a customer with praise.
If you are looking for a place to dine (albeit breakfast, lunch or dinner), Terrace Cafe is the new gem of Charlotte. It's debut one year ago has not lost its momentum. Don't let the name fool you. They serve serious food. Better than some of the so-called finer restaurants in Charlotte.
Don't walk - run to Terrace Cafe for a fabulous dining experience. Parking is complimentary-need I saw more?

If you're looking for a terrific breakfast/brunch/lunch in the SouthPark area, you need to find the Terrace Cafe. I really enjoy the ""build your own omelet"" - and add a Blood Mary just for fun on a Saturday morning! Love the atmosphere, the varied menu, the delicious food, and the upstairs/downstairs seating options.

Yesterday I visited a new place for lunch in South Park, called Terrace Cafe. The restaurant is tucked away in the high end Piedmont Row by Del Frisco's and Brio, but surprisingly has a comfortable and low key atmosphere.
As mentioned earlier, I had every intention of eating lunch at Terrace cafe but was disappointed to find out that they only serve breakfast/brunch on the weekends because of increased business (per the insert in the menu). Seeing that it was 12pm and the fact that I am not a huge breakfast person, it had crossed my mind to get up and go grab lunch somewhere else but I had been wanting to try the food and everything looked very fresh.
I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits with a hash browns which were fantastic. The gravy was not extremely heavy and yet was full of flavor. The hash browns are actually one big hash brown which was cooked perfectly and also had lots of flavor. It was accompanied by a mixed greens mini-salad-sample, which seemed out of place, but nonetheless it worked with the vinegarette-esque dressing it was coated in.
My girlfriend ordered a make-your-own omlet with turkey, cheddar cheese and green peppers which was also very good. It came with a fresh fruit salad composed of blueberries, mango, strawberries, melons and blackberries which were all very good.
The atmosphere here is great, very open dining feel. While the quality of food is better than typical restaurants, it's not stuffy at all. The prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality that you receive. My only problem was that lunch was not available, it seems that it isn't going to be on the weekends anytime in the near future which is unfortunate because I would like to see what the rest of the menu has to offer.

Terrace cafe is my new favorite restaurant in Charlotte! The food is amazing, and they have everything you could ever want! I love the omelets and waffles for breakfast - the red velvet waffle is absolutely to die for! And the biscuits and gravy are an excellent addition. For lunch, my favorites are the soup and sandwich selection. Oh, and the salads are great, too! The service at Terrace is first class, and they def go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. And you will just have to go for yourself to check out the decor! Love it! My only complaint is I can't go every day to try something new! I def recommend this to everyone living in or visiting Charlotte!
