Unfortunately, I never got a chance to rate this clinic's work. I signed my dog up for neuter a week ago and then got cold feet due to a very bad experience with my neighbor's dog at another clinic. I canceled via e-mail on Sat. and then called Monday to discuss this. The staff person I spoke with gave me indepth information about this clinic and their expertise. I ended the conversation feeling very reassured and opted to keep the appointment-which at that time she said was ok. The next day she phoned me and played word games, saying because of my concerns, she thought I'd feel better having a private vet do the neuter. I told her at least 8 times that I now felt comfortable with her clinic and thought we'd settled this with our good conversation yesterday. I asked her multiple times if they were refusing to neuter my dog, and she kept saying, no they weren't refusing, she just thought I'd "feel better" going to a private vet . . So then I'd say "so you ARE refusing to neuter my dog?" And she'd say" no, you're putting words in my mouth. Then, I'd say"ok, so if I bring my dog in you'll neuter him?" At which point she'd say "no", they wouldn't neuter him, but this was NOT a refusal, and please lets not argue! She did refund my money, and I would have understood if she'd refused me the day before when I called to reschedule In fact when I called yesterday I was fully prepared to be refused and maybe not even get a refund. I would have understood.. But don't take time to talk to me and reassure me, say the appointment still stands, and make me feel comfortable, and like everything is settled, and then call me the next day refusing, yet playing word games and say this is all in respect for my "feelings." It's your facility and you can refuse anyone you want to- just SAY that! Don't play silly word games, it's insulting and demeaning!
I am the Executive Director at Spay Neuter Charlotte and was the staff person who spoke to this person. Our clinic stands behind the quality of our patient care and it is our goal to educate and support pet owners as well. While it is always are desire to treat every patient there are instances where it is in the best interest of the pet and the owner to refer them to a full service veterinary practice.
