After 30 business days of first available date, my stuff is still not delivered. According to the contract, this should have been delivered Aug 11th.
Move from Jamaica, NY to Plano, TX. This move is between 1501-2000 Miles. According to the contract, it should have been delivered between 4-24 Business Days of the First Date(FAD). My first available date was July 11th. Based on the calendar, 24 business dates from July 11th is Aug 11th but i still do not have any update whatsoever. We have three young kids and it has been extremely difficult and inconvenient to live out of a suitcase. The schools start in the next week or so and we have nothing for kids after more than a month of our first available date.
Emma from dispatch is least helpful. I get a standard response, "no updates, will call you when i have an update."
Everything the sales person, Tommy, told me turned out to be a lie. He assured me that my stuff will be delivered on July 11th, he told me that he has a good estimate of my inventory list and that the "binding estimate" will not go over $500, he said the movers will bring blankets for the furniture, he said he will be my moving coordinator and will guide me throughout the process, i could call him on his cell. Every single thing was a lie. He never answered any of my several calls or emails after the conversations we had well BEFORE the move. He just went missing after I paid the deposit.
The movers charged me an extra $600 because they claimed that i had more stuff than i disclosed. This was a lie because he already already had 300 cubic feet worth of moving stuff in his truck and i had no choice but to pay because my stuff was already in the truck and i had to move out of my apartment that day. Whatever, I paid him whatever he asked, I moved on from that but I didn't expect them to not deliver my stuff. This has been an absolute nightmare so far.
I find Public Moving Services to be poor in customer service. They do not get back to their clients except to collect money. I had a moving date of July 30th and was suppose to be out by the 31st as My current home sold. They came at 12:30 in the afternoon and did not finish including my storage unit that day. They left at 11:30pm in the evening from my home. (not almost 12 hours) The truck that was sent was too small as the estimate was not accurate. They just did a vocal estimate and not a real in person estimate. It caused me to hire a U-Haul on the 31st before the 9:00 am closing. I had to ask my brother in law whom has a bad back to help me. I was so stressed and sick about it all. I then drove it to my storage where the guys came again, late, 12:30 for them to load in a second truck. The whole thing was a nightmare experience for me and to this date, August 4th, I have not heard from the Manager or anyone about some compensation, as I have left several messages. I do not recommend this Company. Beware! My fees were doubled! And of course you have heard all the stories of if you don't pay, you don't get your stuff. Terrible Company to work with. I feel as a woman, taken advantage of from the very first quote or promise to hook you in.
They charged us 3 THOUSAND dollars MORE Than expected... I did all my research, I pre packaged/taped-shut/saran wrapped Everything, and the first thing they did is re tape over my tape, re saran wrap over my wrap.... and charge me for their labor, packing materials, and time. OMG!!!
***Not to mention, I specifically had several Big items I had told them if we went over space wise I didn't want them to pack, I was speaking to a Russian man, He said we would be over at the end if they took the matress, so they left out one matress, and said there was about a 4'x2' space left and that's it...after it was already gone I found out we were over 300sq ft. that's $1200 just thrown in the air! I had Absolutely no Knowledge of this!! I'm very upset! I feel like they were trying to pull a fast one on me, as They Did Know I Did NOT want to go over at all. And Never Told me I went over! I feel Scammed in every sense of the word. I even tipped the 3 men $60 SMH... At the end, there was nothing left in the house except a matress and my leftover packing materials I had purchased... The man asked if he could have them, I said sure, I'd just throw them away anyways, it was probably $70 worth of stuff, then found out later charged $120 for packing materials... Please Don't use this company! Looking back wish I could have move myself. or don't do anything at all, cause they're going to redo everything you did and charge you 3x for it... time/material/labor.. taking 23 days to get our stuff
So to start they seemed like a great company all 5 star reviews best quote we received as well. After putting our money down for the job my wife received a call from another sales rep revising the quote from $1895 to now $3295 this was the night before. My wife told him that she needed to discuss this with me and he tells her well I'm leaving the office now. I contacted our original sales rep who said he would look into it and call me back in 15 minutes. No call back, so my wife reached out to him the following morning and he told her that the price should be what he quoted. The movers show up and have an unsigned contract at the $3295 price so my wife try's to contact the sales rep again and when he finally calls back he gives her a lecture for calling him so many times and not to have an attitude with him. The three guys that loaded our stuff did do an amazing job to their credit. But once the truck was close our total was now $5974, 3.15 times the quoted price. On top of that the sales rep promised a delivery on a certain date which we were notified it would be 10-18 days before we would receive it based on their schedule unless we pay another $1500 to them. Right now they have $3233.50 and owe $2750.50 on what ever day they decide to deliver it. Customer service won't give us a date and fail to call us back as they promised. With no furniture delivered or knowing when it will arrive it has been the worst company I have ever done business with!
Choosing Public Moving Services was a huge mistake. When the movers showed up, they placed many restrictions on what we could bring that were the opposite of what the salesman stated we could bring. Once they left with all of our belongings, they refused to return our calls.
They do not offer prompt service. The salesman stated that since we were moving from near Baltimore to North Carolina, we would receive prompt service since they frequently made many trips between the two areas. However, once they took our belongings and a lot of our money, all of a sudden, they had a problem filling up one truck to make the trip, claiming it could take up to 10 days.
Our pick-up date and time -- even the back-up pick-up date and time the company selected -- were ignored. Our pick-up was delayed by the company 3 times, resulting in us breaching our sales contract with our buyer for not vacating our home in time. When Public Moving and Storage did finally show, it was close to 10:00 p.m. with a small box truck that was already 1/2 full of another customer's stuff. They could not get all of our things onto the truck, and at 1:00 in the morning, exhausted and facing work the next morning, we were forced to call in outside help to move half of our household into a neighbor's garage. Then came the long wait to get Public Moving and Storage back to free up our neighbor's garage and consolidate our things for delivery to our new home. Again, there were several delays for one reason or another. The salesman had promised us a smooth delivery in "about a week." This move took a month from start to finish. Meanwhile we spent the holidays without furniture or any of our holiday decorations. Though I was assured by a customer service agent that my situation was unique and that this many delays were not the norm, I was not offered any concession. In fact, my intelligence was insulted by one a sarcastic customer service agent (ironically named "Angel"), my apparent reward for the calm and patient manner in which I had approached these problems. The cost for the move was way higher than the estimate based on the itemized furniture and box count list I had accurately provided two days before the start of the move. The company offered no explanation about why its software had generated an inaccurate estimate. The company never provided us with an invoice containing our total cost, only a series of invoices with subtotals misleading us to believe that we were actually within the estimate. The movers themselves were hard-working, and all of our things ultimately made it to their destination. This is why there is 1 star and not zero.
I recently needed to relocate and took some time to look at several moving companies and figured a large name would be a safe bet. I was wrong. When working with Thomas, I asked for specifics on wrapping for several items such as TVs, mirrors, etc. He told me several times that bubble wrap and boxes would be made available at not extra charge. On the day of delivery, they were prompt and I expected my estimate to change since more things were added, but when I reached out to the company Jeff would be the person I spoke to, and he told me that the phone calls would be reviewed and then I would see about any price adjustments, since they couldn't get a hold of Thomas. Needless to say, the call back didn't come, and they stretched the delivery from a minimum of 3 to day 20. And it was interesting that the contract says up to 30 days. We lost 1 week and 2 days of my wife's wages. Several items were broken upon receipt. I called the number and I got Jeff again. I told him the movers were actually just leaving, but I was finding broken things. He then tells me that I have to get 3 estimates for repair and replace and get all of the items notarized. I was upset and asked why I should have to jump through hoops? They decided to load my things, leave it in a warehouse and then load again to send to me finally, and on the delivery, I have to eat it? I say limit your liability and move it when you have it. The movers themselves actually made a mess and left packing items, like tape and trash and a rug they pulled from a dumpster out in the street. Next time, I am packing a U-Haul, and cutting out the B.S. I gave the three star rating on expertise because Jeff, who seems to be the only one working there, knows exactly what to say to deflect accountability and hide behind their contract.
There is absolutely NOTHING positive to say about this company nor
our experience with Them! We are easy going, middle class senior citizens, living on a fixed income, moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a small home only 5 hours away. We were given a "firm" quote and ASSURED that our load would arrive in 2 or 3 days or 4 or 5 days at the most. We made arrangements to stay at an economical motel for those few nights. WELL...our things were loaded on the truck the day after Thanksgiving and at that time they said that we owed them $519. More than they had quoted because"we had more cubic feet than they had estimated". Then we learned that the movers were going to take our things to a warehouse, which they would not give the location of...where they would off-load our things.....all new news to us. Because we were leaving our now empty apartment at the same time, we asked when to expect our things to be delivered. They were very clear that "they had NO IDEA"....WHICH TO SAY THE LEAST WAS QUITE UNNERVING and should have been our first clue about what we were dealing with. WELL....after spending over $1200. On just a motel room...plus a minimum on food, we could no longer afford to wait there so we bought a blowup bed and some necessities and moved into our empty house to wait longer. We called and called every number that we could find related to the company, for weeks!!!!! No one could give us an answer or be the least bit helpful or express ANY sense of concern for us or express any sense of responsibility for our mounting unforseen expenses. We called often and were usually transfered to an equally unhelpful line or dismissed all together Now... our things finally DID arrive the day After Christmas,,,,,which totally ruined our holiday plans. Of course we were thrilled to have our things around us finally....however a box or two did not arrive....but by then we were were too tired of fighting the company to care.
Need I say more.....?
Due to issues with mold in my apartment, I had to make a quick and last minute move. They offered helpful solutions for a really stressful situation. I am very satisfied with the service I received from them. The staff were professional, efficient, attentive to detail, and a pleasure to work with.
If I had an option to give it 0 stars, I would choose that option.
We had a terrible experience with this agency. First and foremost everyone is so rude just after you have decided to do business with them. They have no procedure in place. We got our stuff after one month. we moved our stuff from Columbus to Chicago(5 hour drive). We were told it will reach same day or may take couple of days extra. When they came in they broke common lights in apartment building. We have been following up with them for past 2 weeks. No success yet on that.
This is the worst moving company if I could give this company -5 Stars I would but I have to rate it so I have to write it at 1. this company they have told us nothing but lies and about where are stuff is and the truck is broke down and will be fixed ascsoon as the part makes it there. And what about all these review that are bogus they're all made up they're Crooks they tell you one price and then they charge you another they don't have you read and they tell you that your stuff will be here between 3 and 18 business days but really it's past the 18 business days and they give you nothing but excuses of the trucks broke down in South Dakota or waiting on a part as soon as the part gets there the truck will be sent out and you will get your stuff and then the phone calls are never returned your always speaking to one person either Emma Richie and dispatch or Angela in customer service Alex Buckingham the senior coordinator don't know b******* and all they can say is we're not sure let us call you back nothing but excuses and it seems to be that there are quite a few other people who are getting scammed by these Crooks so if I were you I would stay far far away from them do not hire them they are the worst moving company in the world and I would not wish that upon my worst enemy
As I child, I moved with my parents a couple of times and each time I see some signs of stresses and worries all over their faces but now I know the reasons for that. Moving is not easy especially when you move with inexperienced movers. This has been my experiences for a long time now since I started moving on my own but I was lucky lately to have hired them for my last move. In fact, the last move was the best I have ever had all my life.
Everything was great: the office staff, the movers, the price. I especially want to point out how great the two movers were. It was well over 90 degrees and I had a number of heavy book boxes. The movers had a great attitude, never showed even a hint of hesitation or complaint.
After a hectic week, I’m finally settled into my new home. I’m a military bride and move around a lot. I can honestly say that finding a moving company that won’t rip you off or break all your things is near impossible, but nonetheless Public Moving and Storage did a fabulous job.
I am really happy because Public Moving and Storage have given the best value of my hard earned money. When I booked them for an office move I had high hopes from them because of their reputation. Their sales guy and the movers did not let me down. They managed my move with great efficiency
