Let me start of by say doctor Blotnick has been my doctor for almost three years now. He is an amazing doctor both skilled in his craft and a pleasure to be around. On September 7, 2016 he preformed my custome wave LASIK surgery. Let's just say my vision before the surgery was abysmal. I'm proud say that today because of him my vision is 20/20 almost 20/15. You rock doctor Blotnick!!!
I recently had cataract surgery in both eyes with Dr Blotnick. First let me say that Dr Blotnick is very skilled doctor and did an excellent job. Here's the problem - his staff completely botched the experience. First of all, I made it clear to three different employees that I both needed (due to insurance) and wanted to go to a specific hospital. I did so to ensure that I would be scheduled appropriately. As I was securing the date, I noticed they had put the wrong hospital on the information card. I immediately pointed this error out to the scheduling clerk on duty and was told it would be corrected immediately.
I travel for a living and it is very important that I confirm my appointments to prevent excessive fees due to schedule changes. Then I got a phone call from the "surgical coordinator" informing me that I had in fact been scheduled to the wrong hospital. When I told her what had happened and what my needs were, she dismissed it, saying that "it was simple to correct" and that I needed to "change the date of the surgery". I asked her who was going to pay my travel fees for changing my travel due to their error, because it certainly was not going to be me or my organization, she did not know what to do at all and never helped with the end result. I ended up going through a mountain of phone calls with my insurance to make sure that if I went ahead with the surgery on that day in the wrong hospital, I would still be covered. My coverage is excellent. I received several phone calls from the "insurance and billing" person, who talked to me as if she was some sort of bill collector and I was in arrears. This was not the case at all. We have always paid promptly and also had excellent insurance coverage. She actually threatened me with "if you don't pay up front, you won't get the surgery" when I questioned about what she had filed with the insurance providers.
I expressed my dissatisfaction several times to the insurance and billing person and the surgical coordinator and nothing was done. I even had to push hard to get receipts so I could file my own insurance.I am STILL trying to get all the information I need to finish filing my insurance and it is almost a week out from the second surgery. Interesting since they push hard for their money and yet drag their feet to give the appropriate receipt.
I had both eyes done and was satisfied with Dr Blotnick until I went for my next day follow-up. I went to the Randolph Rd office which is where I have always gone. I was told when I arrived that Dr Blotnick was in the University location. At no time, via paperwork or the confirming phone call, was the location mentioned. At no time did anyone on staff indicate that I was scheduled to go to a completely different location than I had ever gone to. So , I ended up seeing a completely different doctor who DID NOT perform the surgery. While he was nice, he was not Dr Blotnick. Again, their idea to correct their series of blunders was to expect me to jump through hoops.
Finally, I spoke with the office manager about all this and was told that he agreed and that I had been treated very badly. And then he said, "What do you want me to do about it?" If that wasn't bad enough, he then said, "you got eye surgery from one of the best in Charlotte, so...." in a very patronizing way, inferring that I show my gratitude by keeping quiet. When I told him the insurance person talked to me rudely like some bill collector or something, he said, "she is a bill collecter." I was appalled and disgusted. I paid dearly for good service on every level and did not receive it. Frankly, with this arrogant and dismissive office manager, no wonder the office staff are lacking in professionalism and seem entirely incapable of listening to patients needs. I am done with this practice.
After just completing cataract surgery for both eyes, I cannot be more pleased. Staff was very courteous and respectful. Dr. Blotnick explained the procedures, the pro's and con's of my treatment plan. I was allowed to select the option that I thought best for me. After having working in the healthcare field for many years, having a voice and a choice in my treatment plan was important. I would have had the surgery much sooner if I had known how painless the procedure was, and that the next day I would be back to my normal activities. I would recommend Mecklenburg Eye Associates to anyone having vision problems!
I would give them a zero but that's not an option. My mother went in there for an eye exam and the nasty tech there was upset that she did not want them to put a weight on her eye to test the pressure, so that nasty woman put so much of the stuff they use to dilate her eyes that even at 9:30 at night my mother could not see well and her appointment with them was early in the day. We are calling there tomorrow to make a formal complaint. If any damage is incurred to my mothers eye after this madwoman hot a hold of her we will have to seek some legal advise!!
Dr. Blotnick performed LASIK on both my eyes yesterday. He was very helpful, explained the entire procedure including what needed to be done before and after surgery. I had the procedure done yesterday afternoon and today I feel great, and I'm closing in on 20/15 in each eye which is better than expected! I also had some time constraint issues that Dr. Blotnick more than accommodated. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Blotnick, his expertise and professionalism are unparalleled. Deciding to have LASIK performed by Dr. Blotnick was probably the best medical decision I've ever made.
Dr. Blotnick did great work performing cataract surgery on my left eye in 2011. I was so pleased with the whole experience and the results that I chose him to do the surgery on my right eye in 2014. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I wouldn't have cataract surgery anywhere else in Charlotte.
The doctor was great and the office staff was really nice, but the billing department leaves much to be desired. I have been dealing with issues for 10 months from just one visit. The woman in billing/insurance (Ms. Moses) is rude and very disrespectful. She talks down to customers like they are stupid. I will NEVER to back to Mecklenburg Eye Assoc for this reason nor would I refer anyone to them.

I would give this place negative stars if I could.
The doctors and office staff were fine. My appointment was at the Rock Hill location. However, my headache came about 8 months AFTER my appointment when I had to deal with the billing department.
Apparently my insurance company took back some of the payment that they provided for this appointment. I was notified by the billing department via a mailed statement. Within 2 weeks they started calling me. I guess I didn

Recently, I was referred by my opthamologist to Dr. Blotnick for possible cataract surgery. I am very happy to say that I agreed to have Dr. Blotnick perform cataract surgery on both of my eyes. His vast knowledge in his field, professionalism, and upbeat attitude is what I received each time I met with him before and after each surgery. In addition, each of his staff members are friendly and helpful. Most recently, two of his employees, namely Rose and Tina, were kind and helpful in providing explanations to questions. I have, and will continue, to recommend this practice to my family, friends, and colleagues.

I have been seeing Dr. Blotnick for almost a year, I was referred to Mecklenburg Eye Associate by Columbia Eye Clinic. Dr Blotnick and his staff have been professional, courteous and friendly to be both me and my daughter. He is well qualified, he explains what your condition is and the options you have to fix the problem.
He is a talented eye surgeon. I have now had two cataract surgeries and both were exceptional with no complications. I would recommended Dr. Blotnick to anyone who is looking for a new eye doctor.

I had an infection in my eye and was being treated by another practice. My eye was not improving as quickly as I expected it to, and I was getting ready to go on a trip. Mecklenburg Eye Associates was able to get me in that day. Dr. Blotnick looked at my current prescriptions and explained why they were not working and switched my drops. By the next day I was much better and by my follow-up appointment the following week, I was cured! I am now looking forward to having Dr. Blotnick see if I am a candidate for lasik, since my contacts caused the problem in the first place.

I am extremely satisfied with everything about Mecklenburg Eye Associates. I have worn corrective lenses since the age of 9 with 20/400+ vision in both eyes. I recently underwent cataract surgery using Dr Blotnick and could not be happier. After two weeks on the left eye I am now 20/20 and the same in my right eye the day after surgery. Dr Blotnick is a heck of a surgeon and has a great rapport with his patients. He takes the time needed to answer any question and he really does care. The entire staff is excellent from the front desk team to Laurie, Dr Blotnick's tech. My wife and I both had both eyes done over the past couple months and we definitely recommend MEA. We had no long waits for what is a very busy practice.

I had a similar experience as ladyfrench42. When I have an appointment I do not expect to wait 3 hours to be seen. My time is valuable and I do not like to waste it. Most of my time was spent sitting in the waiting room with nothing to do but look at the crowd waiting. The only reason I stayed is that it is November and I don't have time to see another dr before the end of the year. Will not make that mistake again nor will I go back to MEA.
I have waited at other practices in town for a long time. Always felt like a number. Here, they called me by name and the wait was much shorter than other places. Felt like they actually cared. The doctor took his time and answered all my questions. Picked out a great pair of new glasses too. Thanks
The only good thing I can say is that they didn't argue with me at all when I told them that my eyes hadn't changed and I'd be happy to stick with my same Rx. Besides that, if you go here, be prepared to be surprised by a enormous fitting fee that no other doctor in the Charlotte area has ever charged me before. Actually, I don't even think I paid as much money out of pocket when I didn't have insurance. I have great insurance and I still left with a $110 bill. That was after refusing to purchase contacts from this establishment because they were so incredibly overpriced. Best advice, if you must go here, be sure you ask about their fitting fee because it wasn't disclosed to me until after my appointment was half over. Additionally, I was told that I'd be in and out in a half hour, which isn't unreasonable at the eye doctor... however, it was over 90 minutes. This was a one-time visit for me. They P!$$ed me off and I will not be back.
I have nothing but praise about the procedures Dr. Bedrick performed on removing cataracts on both my eyes and also doing implants. I cannot believe that now I can see 20/20 without the use of glasses. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Bedrick's competence, professionalism, and genuine concern for me as a patient and this extends to his staff as well.
