Staff with the exception of one nurse by the name Gail is rude. Dr. Stephens talk really loud so whatever she is discussing with her patient is no longer confidential. Dr. Stephens lacks empathy and treat you as if you are just a patient she will receive income for. I have never felt so disturbed by a medical professional until I visit this Dr. Office. I understand that she is not a therapist and/or a counselor, but I am sure being empathetic was emphasized when she was pursuing her medical career. She is very cut and dry. Very very very very rude.

I simply can't believe the one review where the lady says that Dr. Stephens was rude and rough and that she and her staff were anything but nice. They are a fun group of women who truly care about their patients, not just the gynecologic health and well being of the patient but also how things are going for their jobs, families, etc. They try to have fun while doing their jobs. I have seen and heard Dr. Stephens work with young girls who are scared to death to be examined as well as women of all ages with problems and concerns. Even when the patient is being unreasonable and difficult (in my estimation), Dr. Stephens tries to remain calm and reassuring and helpful. We have to remember that everyone has good and bad days, even doctors, so sometimes people just may not respond to every person the way she expects. I usually am able to get in and out of the office quickly, but sometimes the doctor has had an emergency to deal with or a patient requiring more time and attention and I will have to wait a bit longer. In those cases, she always apologizes for the wait, tries to explain the reason for the delay, and then turns all of her attention to me and any problem that I am having.
If you want a caring, dedicated gynecology office, I strongly encourage women of all ages to check out this office. They understand me and my female problems and try to meet all of my needs in a respectful and fun-loving and knowledgable way.

My visit to this office was an absolute nightmare. I showed up fifteen minutes early to my appointment and still waited an hour. While waiting, I overheard the nurses and receptionist gossiping about other people in the building. At one point a man walked in. I think he worked somewhere close by. But the entire staff swarmed him and began flirting with him. I have never in my entire life seen grown professional women reduced to giggling school girls the way these women were. When I finally got called back the nurse was loud and obnoxious. She took minimal information before going back to the front desk to gossip. I waited another fifteen minutes before Dr. Stephens came in.
Dr. Stephens was perhaps the rudest person I've ever met. She rushed through the pelvic exam and scolded me for not knowing what a pap smear felt like. She was very rough. When I told her that I was nervous about the pap smear, she replied, ""its not like bigger things havent been down there."" This really upset me because she had not yet taken a sexual history so she was obviously just making assumptions. After the pap smear, I got very emotional because we were discussing possible illnesses. I began to cry and was told to ""save my hysterics"" for another time. I tried to ask questions, but Dr. Stephens practically rushed me out the door. When she did bother to answer, she was incredibly condescending, often rolling her eyes and talking to me like a child.

I have been a patient of Dr. Stephens for 4 years. I had continuous bleeding problems and saw her many times in one year (I told her if we kept meeting like this, I'd have to take her to dinner). She worked very hard to get my problem under control and never made me feel like I was a bother.
After I stopped having the bleeding issues, and only saw her once a year, she remembered every petty detail of my personal life, where I worked, went to school, etc.
Last year, when I found out I was pregnant, I was disappointed to learn that she no longer delivered babies. She did agree to see me at 8 weeks, and do my first prenatal appointment. I brought my husband along and to my delight, she performed an ultrasound, which a lot of offices wont do until about 20 weeks. Thats how we found out we were having twins. I was so happy that Dr Stephens was the one to tell us. (She turned the screen and said ""Okay, theres baby number 1...."" and then joined my husband and I in laughing and yelling, it was a wonderful experience. She put up with my giggling through the rest of the ultrasound (next time I did that at my new doctors office, the tech got really pissy with me)
Her staff is wonderful. Cherry in her billing department was always very helpful with my insurance questions, and would determine if certain services were covered before I made my decision. I was having trouble with my new OB and called Gail, her nurse, and she was able to get a different doctors office to take me after the 26 week cutoff.
I have continued to go to Dr. Stephens even though I am over an hour away and will continue to do so after the babies are born. If you really want personalized care, I highly recommened Dr. Stephens

Dr. Stephens was my doctor in Huntersville and saved my life! After that I decided to make her my new OB-GYN. She later moved offices to Charlotte, but now that I live in Charlotte I am definitely going back to her. I actually did a city search on my area to see what the best rated OB-GYN was and go figure, Dr. Stephens!

when i moved here from NYC, i asked around for a good GYN, many women mentioned Laurel, that was 8 years ago and i'm still with them. The staff is dedicated, friendly and well trained. Dr. Stephens takes her time with you, she doesn't rush thru her exams, she looks you straight in the eye, chats a while.. like i said old fashioned caring, something lacking in these big franchised like practices.. much love to Dr. S and her staff.

Right after I found out I was pregnant I was rushed to the hospital with complications. After I was released Dr. Stephens did not feel it necessary to see me. I even wrote her a letter describing how disappointed I was in the handling of the situation and never heard from her.
It was then that I decided it was time to find a new OB and while I was searching online for a new OB I stumbled across and article in the Charlotte Observer about how Dr. Stephens was being sued by a patient.....I was not surprised at all.
She and her staff had no regard for my health or the health of my baby. I quickly changed to a new OB who I love.
