Dental Dismay

I experienced a less than pleasing consultation on my first visit here yesterday. I was refferred by Charlotte Dentistry and came in an hour early for my appointment with paperwork and xrays from the reffering dentist. The receptionist Gail wasnt friendly at all. I provided the ladies behind the window with all my insurance info in belief that the large abcess growing from my gum line would be taken care of. I have MetLife dental whom does not issue a card and BC&BS medical. Since my husband had our card he read the policy numbers off for me so I could write them down for the nurses. When I got to the back (escorted by Gail) she made a rude comment about the condition of my teeth. Ignoring the unprofessionalism I waited for Dr. Swann... Dr. Swann looked over everything and determined I would need a minimum of 4 teeth pulled and my abcess drained. He suggested putting me to sleep but I explained that i could handle a local anesthetic. He was obviously displeased with my decission. He got up and went to a fourth receptionist to have her explain ""something"" to me... she then requested $1200 cash from me and said it was because I didnt have the actual insurance card with me.... So all Dr. Swann could do was write me a prescription for pain and antibiotics. The same thing I could have gotten at the first dentist office that i paid a $50 co-pay at. I cried silently as he wrote my prescription and went to the receptionist desk where I then had to pay another $50. I was told to bring in my BC&BS card. So as they knew, my husband came back to pick me up and gave me the card. I took it back into the office and couldnt help but ask if they turned me away because i didnt have the card at 1pm when i arrived. The lady gave me the excuse that they needed time to get my fees together which is odd because she asked me what my specialist copay was and took my word that it was $50 dollars but they couldnt determine their own fees??? Someone named Stacy called me back about 2hrs later to tell me that they could see me friday and i would need to pay $264 which may or may not include my $90 deductible. They completely wasted my time... I could have saved at least $50 bucks and gotten a prescription from the first office. They couldve been nicer and could have explained their ""policies"" prior to me being seen. I felt completely railroaded. I may or may not keep my appointment for friday but regardless I will tell as many people as possible how awful my visit there was.
