Dental Examination
A series of x-rays are taken at your comprehensive exam visit in order to develop a baseline of dental health and for the diagnosis of dental disease. Once this series is taken, routine x-rays are generally provided every 12 months. In some cases, x-rays are needed more frequently based on your specific dental health need. We follow the ALARA principle, which stands for As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
X-rays
Your dentist will use a small mirror, a small probe and a special light to visually inspect your mouth, teeth and gums. Dental X-rays are usually taken annually and help your dentist identify cavities and other potential problems. There are two types of dental X-rays: bitewings which take close up pictures of your teeth, and panoramic X-rays which produce a useful overview of your teeth and bones.

Teeth Cleaning
If the status of your gum health does not require periodontal treatment, then your dental cleaning should begin.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a natural mineral found in many foods and water that helps prevent tooth decay. Dental fluoride treatments are applied on the teeth usually in gel form. This gel contains a much higher concentrate of fluoride which protects your teeth and enamel.
Dental Sealants
Dental Sealants are a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth. Sealants are predominately used on the molars and premolars and are a very useful aid to preventing tooth decay by protecting the hard-to-reach nooks and crannies of your teeth.

Fillings
Resin Composite
Left untreated, tooth decay or cavities would ultimately result in the loss of a tooth. Fillings allow patients to keep their teeth after the cavity has been properly cleaned. While traditional silver fillings are available, new composite resins make tooth-colored fillings a popular option so that your teeth look completely natural and healthy.
Veneers
A smile makeover uses a combination of cosmetic procedures – tooth whitening, veneers, crowns, bonding, bridges, etc. – to give you a glowing smile that specifically fits your facial appearance, skin tone and hair color. Smile makeovers are customized to each individual’s needs and desires.
Crowns
Among other things, dental crowns are used to restore a broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down. Permanent crowns can be crafted from metal (gold, stainless steel, etc.), porcelain, resin or ceramic.
Bridges
A surgical procedure to expose more of the tooth structure so that the dentist can better restore the tooth using dental prosthetics (crowns and bridges). Crown lengthening is usually used to repair some type of problem under the gum line which is why it is considered periodontics.
Dental Bonding
Special tooth-colored resin is applied to the tooth and then hardened using a special light. The bonded resin either restores or improves the appearance of the original tooth.

Root Canal Treatment
The goal of endodontics is to save and repair diseased or injured teeth and is concerned with treating the inside of the tooth or the “dental pulp.” Root canal therapy is probably the best known of these procedures, but endodontics also includes surgery and the treatment of cracked teeth and dental trauma.

Deep Cleaning
While most adults have some degree of gum disease, deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) is required when gingivitis goes untreated for too long and works its way down to the foundations of the tooth causing a “periodontal pocket.” Deep cleaning removes the bacteria from these pockets and creates the necessary conditions for proper healing.

Dentures
These are either full sets or partial sets of artificial teeth that are custom made to fit impressions of your jaw and gums. Dentures are made to resemble your natural teeth so closely that they are hardly noticeable. Properly creating and fitting a set of dentures usually requires a few to several weeks depending on your specific needs.

Dental Implants
Dental implants replace the roots of teeth. They provide a strong foundation for permanent or removable artificial teeth that have been custom made to match your natural teeth.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
Few things cause more patient anxiety than hearing the words “oral surgery.” This includes tooth extractions and wisdom tooth removal. However, rest assured that each of these procedures can be quickly completed with a minimal amount of discomfort and practically pain free. If you are in need of oral surgery, let us talk to you openly about your specific procedure, answer all of your questions and set your mind at ease.
Tooth Extractions
Wisdom teeth are a third set of molars often found in the permanent dentition or dental arch. You may have anywhere between one and four wisdom teeth or none at all. While usually it is best for wisdom teeth to be removed, this is not always the case. Your dentist will best be able to best advise you.
