I will no longer bring my mom to this clinic!!! The staff here are very unprofessional, and they lack on time management. My mother had a schedule appointment today at 9:45 AM. We waited for over 2 hours and was not seen. I don't know if it is because they had forgotten about us, but this is not the first time this has happen to my mother and I. This is very unacceptable. So if any of you guys decide to take your love ones there, please go some where else. There service is horrible, and their staff is very unprofessional. In conclusion, I am reporting this clinic and their staff to the better business bureau.
I visited this clinic today after a Google search for allergists in Charlotte. When I called I spoke with someone that was very pleasant and she informed me that they have walk-in hours everyday from 9 am-11am so I decided to stop in. The woman at the front desks attitude left much to be desired, but I have had an incessant itch for weeks and needed to see an allergist so I let it go. She gave me a form to fill out and upon returning it to her she stated that I had to pay the $125 consultation fee upfront. I told her that it is not typical to pay for a visit prior to being seen and she informed me that "That's not how they do things". I paid the fee and sat down. When I arrived it was 10 am and there were only 2 people in the waiting room so I figured the wait wouldn't be long. WRONG! I arrived at 10 am, filled out my paperwork and paid the fee, and then sat down at 10:10. I was called into the back by a nurse at 10:45. Her name was Tierra I believe, and she was very nice and pleasant. She weighed me, checked my temperature and blood pressure and then led me to a room stating the doctor would be in shortly. After a few minutes I checked the time and it was 10:56 am, good timing I thought. I sat in that room alone for 45 minutes. On 3 different occasions I went to the desk and asked about how long would it be before I was seen because I had to leave by 12 pm, not an unreasonable request since I arrived at 10, and on the 3rd trip the doctor himself said he would be in shortly. I waited an additional 20 minutes and the doctor never came in. Frustrated I went back to the desk and informed her that I couldn't wait any longer as it was now 11:55 am and I was in the room for an hour and waiting since 10 am when I arrived. She seemed surprised that the doctor hadn't come in, and directed me to a window to get a refund. Because of the helpfulness and courtesy of the nurse that assisted me as well as how nice the woman who refunded my money was I will give this place 3 stars. For the most part everyone was friendly, but the wait and the attitude of the receptionist made this a place that I would not be returning to.
Make sure to bring your wallet. Before they do anything, they have to have cash. I was told i would need an x-ray. I was pulled out of the room to pay for my x-rays before they would take them. Then they only took one film. They were supposed to examine both of my shoulders. I was rushed away afterwards with medicine that made me dizzy and after doing some research was the incorrect medicine for me situation. My co-pays helped pay for the double parked Mercedes out front. Stay away.
Dr. Oriaku's practice is solely about paying for all the equipment he has purchased for his practice. I was seen for a simple medical issue which in no way required or was even related to the testing that was performed. Dr. Oriaku didn't perform the necessary test that could have helped to diagnose the medical condition such as an oxygen saturation level which doesn't help cover the cost of his x-ray equipment so he instead did an x-ray. A cholesterol and triglyceride lab was also performed right after I ate lunch which won't give an accurate result. I refused the expensive allergy test that he wanted to perform because I knew that it was completely unnecessary and unwarranted. What a scam! I filed a claim with my insurance. Stay clear of this "medical" office.
I went in to the clinic after waiting 5 months to save $1000 to get a food allergy test due to horrible embarrassing hives that have been painful and unpredictable. I don't have insurance so after a painful 5 months I was very specific with the Dr. (black lady w accent not sure her name) about how nothing has changed in my diet, detergent, etc.. but I was very specific in telling her it must be yeast, gluten, wheat, or possibly even sugar because it happens after eating starch's or carbs not sure which exactly. I explained specifically word for word my concerns about my possible food allergies and she said she will get back to me after taking blood work in 2-3 weeks w/results. After 4 weeks of hearing nothing I called and talked to the receptionist and was told I'm allergic to cats and they don't do food allergy tests there! I don't know where the miscommunication was when the Dr. was shaking her head up and down showing me she was comprehending everything I was saying and it's even in my medical records. Now After 2 months of not getting calls back from the manager or dr after many attempts and messages with no answers i have to file a claim to the NC medical board and possibly take them to court. I talked to other Dr's about the incident and they said it's obserd all they have to do is take my blood work and simply sent it to a food allergy lab. I feel if they couldn't give me the answers I was looking for they should've recommended me to someone who could or refund my money so I can go get it done elsewhere. I do not wish dealing with this awful office to anyone!
Nroth Carolina Medical Board Decision - 07/20/2011: "Based on current review, no further action will be taken in this matter. However, Board sugests that all patient encounters, including phone calls, should be documented."
