My wife & I were looking for transportation to & from the Charlotte airport for a really early flight (6 AM). My wife called several companies & wasn't convinced drivers would pick us up at the required 3:45 AM. After talking with Bill, the owner, she booked our trip.
Bill showed up himself and we were treated like we were VIPs. He took care of our luggage (several heavy bags), met us on our return and returned us home. We were really pleased with his service & the immaculate Lincoln sedans the company uses. Pricing was very competitive as well.
He told us about the NC Wine Tours he's been doing for 12 years. We will be posting a review when we get back from our tour in early February. We have found a keeper.
We appreciate each client, but especially new ones. We take our responsibilities seriously. To book a pickup for 1 of the early AM flight departures from CLT forces us to make sure we arrive early & have sent a text to put the client's mind at ease. Presentation is important in every business, but especially in the limo business. We insist on our vehicles being as immaculate as possible, with daily washings & vacuuming.
I am a travel agent in Texas and connected with Bill when I lived in Charlotte. I recently had an elderly client that needed round trip transportation between Charlotte and Asheville. I reached out to Bill to set everything up.
I spoke with my client after she returned home. She said Bill was absolutely wonderful and she felt like a queen. In her words, "He was so nice and the service was so great, I wanted to bring him home".

My husband and I started our tour at 11:15am on a beautiful Sunday morning in November. We were picked up at our house by American Limousine LLC driver/owner Bill Payne. Before we left the driveway our day started off special as we were each handed a glass of sparkling wine as well as cheese, crackers, and fruit for our ride. Our first stop on our wine tour was Daveste Vineyard. This was a small vineyard with delicious wine. Daveste staff member, Stevie did a fantastic job explaining each wine we were tasting. Our second stop on our wine tour was Shadow Springs. The staff were wonderful and it was a fun atmosphere. Their wine was among our favorite. The vineyard location was also picture perfect. Our third stop on the tour was Laurel Gray. We started this stop by having a picnic lunch provided by American Limousine LLC. It was a wonderful spot to have our picnic. It was quiet and peaceful surrounded by the beautiful scenery. After lunch we went inside and got to experience the wines Laurel Gray had to offer as well as their delicious house made BBQ sauce, chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce. We enjoyed talking with the friendly staff as well as learning that each beautiful wine label is drawn/designed by the owner. Our fourth stop on the tour was Raffaldini Vineyard. This was a beautiful piece of property. The scenery was breathtaking. This winery was much larger than the others but gave us another type of winery experience to add to the list. Our fifth and final stop on our tour was RagApple Lassie. This winery had wonderful staff and a fun atmosphere. They actually have their wine barrel storage room and other wine making equipment as you walk in so you get to see part of the process. The cow theme atmosphere and delicious wine makes them standout from the rest. After our final tasting we headed back to the car for our ride home. Bill Payne dropped us off at our house around 7:00pm making for a wonderful 8 hour wine tour experience. American Limousine LLC Wine Tour by far exceeded our expectations. It is a day my husband and I will never forget. Thank you American Limousine LLC and owner/driver, Bill Payne!
The phrase that sums up my experience with American Limousine LLC is “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride”. My first initial introduction with Bill Payne and his company was quite pleasant. The planning process was easy and Bill had everything mapped out very nicely and he was very friendly to work with.
Things changed the day of our tour. Since I had such a wonderful planning experience with Bill, I figured that the day was set and there would be no more worries… boy was I wrong! First, when he escorted us to the ‘party bus’ I was a little taken back since it wasn’t the limo we had discussed, however I was actually quite excited since it would be easier for our party of 12 to get in and out of. Once entering the bus, I was completely taken back! It was unlike any party bus I have ever been on it looked more like an Airport Shuttle!! We tried to not let this sway our opinions of what the day was going to bring so we pressed on.
We arrived safely to the 1st winery seeing as our ride was the furthest away from smooth! The winery was fantastic! The staff was absolutely wonderful… the opposite was said about Bill’s behavior. He marched around the back of the bar like he was the owner and then he decided that he was a part of the group and started drinking!!!! He decided that four tastings was not enough and when one of the girls decided to pour her wine out HE TOOK THE GLASS OUT OF HER HAND AND DRANK OUT IT!!!! Completely uncalled for! The staff finally noticed what was going on and when we told them he was our driver they cut him off (they thought he was a member of our group).
Now I knew where my day was heading… I was going to have to be the Designated Person for our not-so Designated Driver! We proceeded onto our second winery, which was just as delightful as the first! However, I had to run in prior to my group entering the tasting room to inform them not to serve our driver!! Completely unprofessional and uncalled for! Apparently, Bill’s hearing is just as bad as his driving since it took my sister, the Bride, to get curt with Bill and tell him that he was not to have a tasting… his response should have been “My apologies” instead it was “it’s just a sip darling”!
We finally survived the third winery, which was the perfect end to our not so perfect day! After returning to our hotel, it was time for me to settle the bill with Bill. After us talking, the bill was adjusted to reflect the 3 wineries that we went to rather than the 4 that I was quoted.
Bill ended the conversation with “I am sorry I didn’t exceed your expectations”, I kept my emotions at bay and told him that drinking on the job when you are specifically hired to be a designated driver is completely uncalled for and unprofessional AND LET’S NOT FORGET ILLEGAL! He proceeded to argue with me and another girl in saying that it is just a tasting! Yes, as a 26 year old I know that a sip of wine will not impair your judgment… but when it is your business and when you are in charge of driving people you DO NOT need to drink and drive! I was completely appalled that he had the audacity to hint for a tip. Please don’t get me wrong I have work in the service industry and I always tip even if the service is terrible, except Bill was taking it way too far!
This review is long and thorough so I hope it paints a picture of what American Limousine LLC and its owner Bill Payne are really offering… drinking & driving… let’s not forget looking at his phone & driving! DO NOT USE THEM!!!
If I could give 'negative stars', I would. I had an awful experience with Bill Payne and his &quot;Limo&quot; service. First off, we were promised a limo and got what looked to be an airport bus. Bill swerved all over the road, was drinking out of other ladies wine glasses, helped himself to some of the crackers for palate cleansing, and groped a handful of the ladies on our trip. At the 2nd winery, he tried to sneak a wine glass to the speaker for a taste - and the head of our party had to place her hand over his glass and tell him that we were paying him to drive and not drink. He was angered by this, but didn't drink any further. He also was looking at his phone while driving... and our gourmet food (from Jason's Deli) wasn't refrigerated [I'm almost sure some people had sandwiches with meat]. Overall, he was rude and unapologetic. He even bickered with the head of our trip when we didn't include a tip. Don't bother with this guy or his company. Seriously. We even asked the wineries what they thought of him.. They were polite about it... but said he was &quot;different&quot;...
I hired American Limo to pick up my in-laws (in their 80's) at the Charlotte airport and transport them to a resort 2 hours away and then return 5 days later for the return trip back to the Charlotte airport. Every detail was handled professionally and perfectly. I would use them again and again. I cannot rate them highly enough. A superb job!

We received wonderful service! Bill Payne and our driver Thomas were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for my 11 year old daughter's birthday party! Our driver even played the whole role for us and walked up to the house asking for the birthday girl! Our driver was very patient as we drove around town picking up 10 and 11 year old girls for the sleep over! Some may think a limo is over board for an 11 year old birthday party, but we love birthday parties and this was just as cheap as any other party we have ever given! It's way worth it!
It is extremely gratifying to a business owner to know training works and to have a chauffeur whose customer service skills are readily apparent to the client. We want each client experience to be special.
We used this company for a wine tour. The service was excellent. The staff even took pictures throughout our adventure and made all of us a cd of the day! This company really went beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend them.

Efficient, courteous & professional service. My 73 year young Mom needed transport from the Charlotte Airport with only a couple of days notice. She was pleasantly surprised to find the driver waiting for her as she exited escalator. Highly recommended. Will utilize their services in the future.

A group of five of us decided to hire American Limousine for a Yadkin Valley wine tour on Halloween. Owner/operator Bill Payne's extensive knowledge of local NC winreies was impresive. We toured five wineries with a stop for lunch (included in the price of the tour) and had a fantastic time at each. All of us had a great time and would suggest American Limousine for any outing. I hired Bill Payne to pick up an elderly friend of my mother's at the airport. With elderly travelers, it's particularly important that they are looked after. He kept track of her flight, arrived on time to pick her up despite a flight change, and delivered her to my mother's door. He came back to pick her up for her very early return flight and got her to the airport safe and sound. He very pleasant and professional. I asked him to pick me up when I visit in October.
I was able to personally drive Mrs. H and enjoyed the opportunity. Mrs. H was a delight and a definite example of "age is only a number." Dealing with airlines in today's economic climate with reduced flights, cancellations & delays can create issues for our clients. Flight tracking ensures your chauffeur is available when you arrive, regardless of complications.
I have used American Limousine, based in Charlotte several times for trips to or from the Winston-Salem area to or from the Charlotte (CLT) airport. In all cases the service has been prompt on pick up and we were delivered without problems.
The latest trip was unexpected, on my part, as I informed a scheduled return flight to a different airport was canceled. I had to obtain transportation at the last minute, late at night from the Charlotte airport home. The flight was late leaving and even latter arriving at the terminal. The driver, called me to confirm I had not missed him, and awaited my arrival at almost midnight. The towncar was clean and comfortable. The service exceeded my expectations.

He took a group of 10 of us on a Yadkin Valley winery tour. It was a fun filled day and Bill handled EVERYTHING! Once he picked us up we were in his capable hands and treated like royalty at every winery we visited. He knew so much about the wineries and really expressed an interest for us to learn as much as possible about wine that day – and having a fun time too!! I couldn’t imagine even considering using another limousine company in the future – BILL PAYNE and AMERICAN LIMOUSINE know how to treat their customers and you just don’t find that kind of personal attention anymore! The owner of this company told me to rot in hell when I called with a 75 people transport for his company. I have never been so insulted by a stranger in my life. Disgusting, unproffessional, and humiliating.
Ms. Smith obviously has confused us with some other company. We are reviewed at other websites and clients don't have negative experiences. With over 9 years in this business, we do not tell potential clients to rot in hell. While we have handled corporate events requiring more than 100 separate moves over several days, we do not have the ability to move 75 people over a few hours. We refer an individual needing transport for large groups to one of the local charter bus companies and would not even try to quote on limousines. Assuming Ms. Smith called, she would have been advised to call one of the charter bus companies in the area since they would be able to accommodate her needs.
We used American Limousine for our 1st trip to the Coca-Cola 600. We had a driver who knew all sorts of info about the Speedway. We needed to get credentials and get a pass signed in the garage area, he was able to carry us right to the garage gate without having an infield pass. When the race was over, we only had to walk 50 yards to the car and he got us back to our downtown hotel in less than 35 minutes. An absolutely wonderful experience made even better by an excellent driver and limousine company.
