I've been eating here for years, so some of the negative reviews really surprise. I have always found the staff at Thai Orchid to be more than gracious and attentive. They are always happy to greet you with a smile. As far as the food goes, I believe most of the dishes to be at least average or above. I definitely favor some dishes over others, but I can say that about most restaurants. I have a rotation of 4 Thai restaurants I go to depending on what I’m in the mood to eat, as some do certain dishes better than others. The dishes I order at Thai Orchid are definitely above average. I have eaten at most of the Thai restaurants in Charlotte, and I eat a lot of Thai food when I travel, so I think I have a pretty good understanding of the cuisine. I would not hesitate to recommend Thai Orchid. You can absolutely get a tasty Thai meal in a friendly neighborhood-like atmosphere.
Raul was our server who was superb! Perfect service. He was very attentive but not over indulging. It was my anniversary and he engaged with us and made us feel special. The food was delicious! We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. I had the 20oz Bison Ribeye topped with bordelaise sauce and served with bacon cheddar mashed potatoes and asparagus. I ordered my steak at a medium temperature. It was flavorful and portion sizes generous. My husband had Steak Au Poivre which was a pepper encrusted NY strip with truffle pomme frites and cognac creamed spinach. He also had the Bentley's Martini. It was so much food we couldn't eat dessert. However Raul brought out a creme brûlée for our anniversary on the house with a candle. Our bill was a little our $180 before tip but not bad for the beautiful view of the city below. Everything was well worth it! We will be back again requesting Raul!
I actually used to drive by everyday waiting for them to open and I don't regret it! Their food is amazing! Everything they make, they always bring out the flavors not like most restaurants. They have so many varieties from their sushi bar to the hibachi grill! They even have all you can eat Pho! The manager is very helpful and nice, no mean attitudes when I need something out or anything, she doesn't hesitate to try and keep us satisfied! Everyone is always friendly here they don't just serve and wait for you to leave. If you start friendly conversation they will laugh with you and converse back. I love it here. The price is reasonable and the employees never give me a reason to leave and never come back! I'll keep coming back to more! Best buffet so far!
Food arrived around the time they said, but the delivery guy was rude, wish I would've kept my tip!! He never said hi, bye, or think you!! Then the rice was nasty with 4 pieces of shrimp in it. Was yellow, like Mexican rice? Never had that before. It was ok, but not the shrimp fried rice I'm used to. The brown sauce I thought I was going to get tasted like thick soy sauce, again, nasty. And the sesame chicken was cold and not fried hard enough. All in all, it was ok. My craving isn't satisfied, but let's just say I will not be ordering here again.
A friend of mine told me about Dino. They have the best grits in charlotte. The hash browns are great too. They give you 3 slices of bacon. The egg are great give you a pitched of tea. Give you extra toast don't charge you. Waitress are very friendly. You can have breakfast any time. Open early 5.30 close around 3.00 it us right across from old Tryon mall which is being torn down. Only thing is sugar creek is closed you have go out n Tryon. It is worth the drive
Very friendly staff. Food fresh and tasty. The best Chinese food I've ever had in Charlotte. You place your order at the counter then choose a table and they bring it out to you. Whenever I've ordered take out, it's always ready and still hot! I've been eating there for over 10 years, and nothing else in town compares! I don't even live on that side of town anymore, but when I want Chinese food, I drive over there. It's SO worth it.
I ordered a dish yesterday and found it so good I had to go there once again today. the food is really delicious and full of flavor. The serving portions were a little bigger than the other Chinese restaurants in the area and little cheaper too. I was cooking my own Chinese food due to small portions and high prices from other places, but now I found this new place and I will continue to buy here, I'm happy to have found them.
I enjoyed my carry-out lunch of tofu with lemongrass, onions and rice. The serving size was generous and the person who took my order was helpful and pleasant. Posted on the wall behind the cash register were large pictures of the menu items. On my next visit I will buy some of the soy milk made on site and will try another entree. I'm a very happy customer and will return.
Although they have a small variety of food, it is really delicious, however the last few times I have been it seems their ribs were reused, by that I mean they had bites taken off of them, and they have changed the flavor of them, they were my best item that i would go just for those, but now i don't go anymore. Hope they make some changes there, I miss the place!
Having lived in the nearby apartment community, I have had the fortune to come to this restaurant or takeout regularly. Service is friendly, and food is excellent. The small location, tucked in the alleyway between Fresh market and Red Rocks allows for a nice intimate dining experience. Hopefully the new Fresh Market renovations don't destroy that atmosphere.
