I just set up trash removal after calling all the local garbage removal companies in my area. Although their bags are 10cents more a piece, the receptionist "aubrey" was so nice after my 3 phone calls & million ?s that I decided 2 start up w/ them. I see a few bad reviews, hopefully I don't have any issues later on & if I do, it sounded like they'd be more than happy 2 help! But had 2 give kudos 2 aubrey 4 being so helpful & friendly!

I had set up service two weeks ago to start in May with American Waste and though the person answering the phone was very friendly, she promised service to start before the Memorial Day weekend, after calling to find out why the tote was not delivered I was told they could not deliver the tote because they were too busy this week. Now they wanted my funds immediately without delay. I was busy too but I provided the funds. I got off the phone and called PREFERRED WASTE 2 and the guy brought out the tote immediately. I have since cancelled the with American Waste of Charlevoix and would recommend Preferred Waste 2, they understand that customers service is very important to keep their customers happy.
We began our service with American Waste, Charlevoix, Michigan about five (5) years ago. Since we have moved three within our local community. The first time I contacted Waste Managment & spoke to a very nice receptionist from the Charlevoix office. She was more than happy to arrange for our 'tote' to be picked up from our earlier address & delivered to our new home. At about this time we received a letter explaining that due to fuel costs raising quickly & by a lot a TEMPORARY fuel sur-charge will be added to all accounts. Additionally, the nice, respectful, & knowledge full long time receptionist was quickly gone. Each of the remaing TWO (2) times we moved I called American Waste & requested them to please pick up our tote and relocate it to our new home. One time I was told that if they did so I would be charged an $80.00 tote relocation fee & my wait time for both pickup & drop off at our new home >5 miles South would be greater that SIX (6) months. Furthermore while the tote was at my old home during the SIX (6) months minimum time I would be responsible for the monthly/quarterly bill as well as responsible for damages to the tote including if it became lost or stolen. Needless to say I hired someone to haul our American Waste tote to our new address. Our trash was to be picked-up weekly but for almost THREE (3) months it was not once done. I called upon the tote arriving to our new home & was told that we were added to that route immediately. I called each time they almost purposely drove by our house & get our nierbors trash but not ours. I was told that I placed it a few inches too close to the road or away from the road, that the tote was in & next to my garage or on or close to a side walk (no sidewalk even existed by us) along with countless other excuses. American Waste refused to contact the driver who was still very close to us or send another to pickup our trash ever! Today American Waste continues the "fuel sur-charge" but they no longer say it's either temporary nor for fuel cost's. We finally decided to switch to PREFERRED WASTE 2 who are honest, nice & far less for fee's and zero anger or headaches.Perhaps one day American Waste will revert back to the company we choose in the beginning. I hope so but won't hold my breathe.
