This afternoon, My husband and I decided to enjoy the afternoon buffet at Trotters. My husband, who has been going to Trotters for years and years, and I walked in. As we were deciding what table to sit at, a man runs up from behind us saying "Excuse me! Excuse me! Do you have another shirt in your car?" I said "no" and looked down at my top. This man refused my husband and I service for me wearing a SLEEVELESS TOP. The employee (not a manager) went on to explain that a sleeveless top was not appropriate for me to be wearing in their restaurant. I MAY have found this understandable had it been dinner or on a weekend, however, this was on a Thursday in the early afternoon. Upon our return to the car, I was absolutely humiliated and after scanning their website for any mention of a dress code without any results, my husband stormed back inside demanding to see a manager. After being told that they would not even consult the manager on this issue, he called the Market Pavilion (their much more upscale hotel downtown). After being given the runaround, he was put in touch with the GM who abruptly declared that Trotters reserves the right to refuse anyone service. Greatly disappointed in a restaurant that we so thoroughly enjoyed on a weekly afternoon basis. Today was an absolutely disgusting show of the restaurant and hotel's character. We will never return, and as a business owner in the city of Charleston who is often asked for restaurant recommendations, Trotters or Market 225 will NEVER AGAIN receive a recommendation from me or my employees.
Seasonal local food promises. Want a chicken dinner then make a prepaid reservation by Monday at 100…to give them time to marinate, specially prepare just for you. After all this you have high expectations, right? Well, what you get is tough, overcooked, dried out chicken and as a final kiss off it is overpriced. I am at a total loss to understand the false hype about their chicken.:(
June 1, 2014. found this place on the internet and decided to give it a try and I am glad I did, Part of the place is the bakery and the other half is the restaurant. There are so many desserts to chose from. The breakfast we ordered was very good. So please don't drive by, stop like I did and enjoy. You will not be sorry.
Seriously Good Food!!! Fried Green Palmetto Sandwich is to die for. Not to mention all the homemade baked goods. The blueberry bacon fritter is stupidly good. This place is the hidden gem of Charleston. And another bonus... the prices are great! Everyone should check this place out.
The cupcakes are by far the best I've ever had. My father just happened on this shop one morning and we have been hooked ever since. My favorite is the vanilla bean, but I have not had the pleasure of trying more than a few varieties. My family lives in Boston, and can't wait to come visit again so we can have a dozen on the kitchen table.
Was in Charleston for the "Taste of Charleston" at the event Trotter's was there with their Fried Chicken, awesome. So we decided to go to Trotter's for Sunday Brunch. Boy Howdy, it was great. Made to order crepes, as well as everything else was wonderful.
The best shortbread cookies and cupcakes in Charleston!
great tasting food, all scratch made breads, and very affordable.
A restaurant that caters to locals, not tourists. Upper level atmosphere, good staff, 3 star food at two star prices. I am using the Michelan standard and that is really good food at more than fair prices. I gave four stars for value and atmosphere...busy, but not crowded. Romantic little spot where you can actually talk to your date.
