Expensive Eats

Fairly pricey but good eats. Ample parking right to door. Very cozy relaxed atmosphere

Great steak, great service, good pricing.

I grew up in the Mon Valley and moved to Phoenix in 2001. I got used to paying high restaurant prices shortly after moving to Phoenix. When I go back to the Mon Valley for family visits, I enjoy the local restaurants--and I appreciate the affordability!

I used to go to the Maples all the time back in the 1994-1997 timeframe. The food and service was great then and it is still good today. I ordered the Delmonico Steak and it came out sizzling. The salad was acceptable and the garlic bread was quite good. The Captain's Wafer cracker-and-Cheese Whiz appetizer was somewhat amusing.

We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner and the total for 2 was still less than $50. A bargain!

Most of the locals in Charleroi that I spoke to thought that the Maples had closed years ago, because they never see any cars in the parking lot. Some clever marketing, such as a coupon in the paper, would help alleviate this.

I give it 5 stars! Would recommend it to anyone who is in the area looking for a good dinner steak.

Once was...never more

Once the hottest place for a steak in the Mon Valley, now it's just another place to eat. The service is still good, but the new owners didn't understand what made the Maples great. Sizzling steaks, quality salads, stuffed potato boats, and buttery rich garlic bread... that was then. None of this can be said now, pity.
