This place was such a disappointment. The first impression is always important but this place had such a bad first impression. The restaurant is located inside Avalon Hotel and the hotel is a bit hard to find since it's It's in the residential area. When we got there, there was nobody in the front even though that the sigh said complementary valet parking for restaurant guest. We had 6 p.m. reservation on Sunday and the restaurant was almost empty when we got there. The restaurant had inside and outside seating and all guests that night were seated outside area by the pool. When we got there, there were screaming kids in the pool and I felt really uncomfortable. The restaurant should not be open when there are people swimming in the pool. The food was okay considering we had a good Travelzoo deal ($69 for 4 course meal with a bottle of wine for two). The bottle of wine was awful; it tasted like $5 bottle of wine from a grocery store. I would rather preferred a glass of nice wine instead of a cheap bottle of wine. I like some of the appetizers but overall, nothing was special and I would never come back here to pay the full amount for the quality of food they serve. The ambiance of the restaurant was also very uncomfortable. The restaurant was decorated nicely but I felt like the hotel looked like it used to be an apartment and they just renovated to look like a nice boutique hotel. I just felt this strange vibe from this hotel. The only thing it was good was the service; the server was very nice. But, I would never recommend this place nor would come back to this place ever again.

My husband and I decided to check out this restaurant during dineLA but since the menu was not particularly a better deal, we ended up just ordering from regular menu. We had Burrata Pugliese (Creamy, Buttery Mozzarella with Vine Ripened Tomato; Fresh Basil) for appetizer and it was really good and only $10.My main dish, Lamb Chops are ok but the sauce was a bit too sweet for me and lacking some salt. My husband had Rib Eye and that was very tasty! But both dishes are a bit pricey, $40 each; it was good but not sure if it's worth that much. For desserts, we had La Passione (Warm Italian Chocolate Gianduja Gelato & White Chocolate Bacio) and Panna Cotta. La Passione takes 20 minutes to cook, but it was really good and worth waiting for 20 minutes. The atmosphere and the service were also good and I would definitely come back here to try different dishes. One interesting incident was that we saw Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez dining at the restaurant celebrating Selena's BD.
I discovered this place through Groupon and I'm glad I did. Allow your eyes time to adjust when you first walk in. The building is small and intimate. The staff are very attentive, nice, and polite. The food was delicious. We ordered the Eggplant Stuffed with Angel hair and Seafood Linguine with Diavolo Sauce. Yummy! The Eggplant was a definite winner and the seafood linguine was one of the best I've ever had. The sauce was lite but not bland and had the perfect amount of spice. Reason for -1 star is because I thought the prices could have been a bit better (a glass of Pinto Grigio was $15) and I didn't like the fact that the "service fee"/tip was included on the bill and filled out for you when you pay with credit. Other than that... I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend.
Ok 5 stars doesn't even begin I would give it 5 + stars I went with my family tonight to celebrate and when we got there the server that greeted us was very friendly. Then we started looking at the menu great selection. the appetizer was delicious and we all got some pasta that was WAY TO GOOD TO SHARE!! we drank the wine our waiter suggested WOW really we let the waiter know that we really enjoyed our meal and please let the chef know as well. The Fettuccine Tartufate YUMMY. Also when we complimented the chef he gave us a complimentary dessert wine. In conclusion AMAZING !!! I think everyone should go there also it's not too noisy just in case you are looking for a great first date or a quite family dinner. Thanks Il Buco Ristorante you made our night really special.
Went there on my husband's birthday. Very romantic atmosphere and great service. Ordered off-menu food our waiter recommended and my husband really liked them. Tip: the view is even nicer when it's completely dark, so if you're someone like me who would do anything for great atmosphere, check the sunset time for that day before you make the reservation (which was what I did), and be sure to pick a table on the patio.
Great quality, excellent consistency... Get the special, whatever it is. Staff is sincerely concerned about your dining happiness. Pasquale himself greets you at the door (not even kidding, look for the Middle Aged Italian man in jeans and t-shirt with reading glasses) This place punches way above its weight class for service and quality. Oh, and they don't like texting in here, kills the ambiance...gotta go!
The lobster pasta was really, really good. Awesome hand-made pasta and a healthy-sized, full lobster - not some cheap, pathetic excuse of a lobster tail. Service was excellent - the right amount of attentiveness without pretentiousness. The pumpkin ravioli was good but not great. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy night so we couldn't see the stars but romantic nonetheless.
The food was subpar, however the atmosphere was so beautiful and romantic.I definitely recommend Il Cielo for maybe after dinner dessert and coffee. We ordered the salmon. The sauce was a bit overpowering and the peas were a very awkward addition. The service was also terrible, the waiter actually spilled my wine on me (you know what that means)
Very good food. Not overwhelming, although they do have a sense of humor around garlic as a whole. Excellent service, but I will say comparing to the SF location, the food was not up to the same standard. Very good, but not excellent like SF. In the evening there is pay valet parking.
Stopped by for lunch without knowing anything about this place and fell in love with the eggplant-wrapped spaghetti. Also most of the staff speak Italian; will definitely return.
