One of New Orleans' Best Kept ...

One of New Orleans' Best Kept Secrets. Nestled away just walking distance from the famous St Charles Street Car line is Le Roux a Supper Club and Banquet facility that is available for both public and private affairs. During it's earlier years, The famous Nite Cap, once stood where Le Roux now stands and was one on the spot s to give birth to the New Orleans Funk we hear and admire today. "If these wall could talk" you could hear many famous and infamous artists that have grace the stage at this historic site, explains Kurte Pellerin, it's current owner. " From R&B Superstars Stevie Wonder, the groups the Chi Lites, The Manhattans, to countless other local greats like Deacon John, The Meters, and The Nevilles 1700 Louisiana Ave has alway provided an enviroment for great entertainment"' Pellerin continues. In keeping with the tradition, Le Roux now offers Live Entertainment weekly on Friday nites. Dining is also available during shows and reservations are encouraged, but not necessary. There is also now a Restaurant section upstairscalled Ray's on the Roof @ Le Roux that features lunchtime dining. The menu is traditional Soul Food. The area is quaint and has a spacious outdoor deck adjacent to the dining room.

Coop's Place

Nawlin's Traveller

One late evening out at Frenchmen's on a rainy night-where the music is great and more of the locals hang out-having spent much time wandering the music venues while ignoring our hungry stomachs, we looked to the bartender for a restaurant suggestion. Knowing we weren't that familiar with the area and were walking, he told us of a couple of places which were close. "But, if you don't mind walking a bit there's a place we all go to after work called Coop's Place..." He was right! We'd been to several places during the several visits to New Orleans from the 5 Star to the funky and Coop's served up the best Cajun food we had ever tried. The Jambalaya was so good, we went back the day we flew out just to pick up an order to go for the classic leftovers at home. The cook even came out to thank us for "the compliment" as we had told the server of our takeout plans. The place is not the suit and tie kind of place but it is a place you can sit and take in the ambiance of outer French Quarter. No, you won't find the finest tableware and starched table cloths, but you will find the finest food of the that region. I can't wait to go again!

Great find in the French Quarter

I felt really lucky to find this "hidden gem" in the Maison Dupuy Hotel. The room is cozy with big windows that give a great view of the streets outside. In addition to having a wide variety of foods and wines on the menu, the prices were affordable. Our server, Ashlie, was knowledgeable and friendly and recommended the truffle fries and the crab tacos. Outstanding! My date had the crabcake and it was magnificent. And a blueberry waffle for dessert?! Great stuff! In addition, there was a piano player - Paul - who was very talented and entertaining. In addition to fielding our Sinatra requests, he gave a mini-history of New Orleans music. And we loved singing "Ham and Eggs!" Really nice evening at a really nice spot...we'll be back anytime we're in town.

Hidden Gem of the City!

My family and I visited the Bistreaux in July and were pleasantly surprised by not only the food, but the entertainment as well. The food was nothing short of delicious and the wait staff was very accommodating. The piano player, Paul, was extremely talented and had a rather expansive knowledge of jazz history, which was very interesting. He interacted with everyone in the room and kept us involved throughout the night. We had the best time. We ended up staying for 2 sets and I have decided to have my birthday party there later this month!! I cannot wait to go back there and bring all my friends. I will make sure to make this place a regular stop when we are in town!

Bar Dive and PoBoys

Awesome Po Boy featured on Food Network's Diners Drive Ins and Dives. The roast beef po boy is large, yummy and $8! This place is a dive with no frills. Bar serves up good beer and has full liquer license. Crowd is local except for the occasional tourist coming for po boys. My wife and I, we're from Florida, had a great night there watching football, eating po boys and hanging with locals. Juke box has good selection too!....but this place is truly a dive! so set your expectations accordingly.

Double Play

This is a really friendly bar with many different types of people for it's clientele. The prices are very reasonable for a location that is only 1 block from Bourbon Street on the corner of St. Louis St. & Dauphine Streets. The fun we experienced was never duplicated during our stay in the "Big Easy". Now, on every trip we make to New Orleans, the Double Play is a must visit establishment.

My mom had a procedure done by Dr. Raab. Her incision was from her eye all the way down the side of her face. As terrible as the incision appeared, when it healed, there was absolutely no sign of the incision... if there is a scar, it cannot be seen. Dr. Raab is the only Dr. I would allow to do work on my face.

Carousel Bar

Historic. The bar literally spins like a carousel (slowly, of course) while you're sitting there. Order a Ramos Gin Fizz, nab a bar seat early (it fills up quick!) and people watch... This place always get crowded with a classy-but-fun mix of people.
