I live a mile from Dirk's and have frequented it for the last 25 years. It has gone through name and ownership changes, the most recent has changed it from a friendly neighborhood bar/grill with pretty good food and good service to a noisy mess on weekends and disinterested during the week. I too have been met with long waits for service-EVEN WHILE SITTING AT THE BAR WITH NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME. Did they think I came in just to sit and watch TV? I asked for a menu and after 15 minutes I had to ask the barkeep if she could take my order. There were about 10 other customers in the entire bar at the time and she was acting like a food order was just too much. After waiting another 20 minutes, I asked her if my burger was ready. She sighed, walked to the kitchen and yelled something about my burger and went back to the bar, ignoring me as she walked by. The cook brought my food out, barely warm, fries cold. I asked if I could pay the manager. The manager could have cared less if I got food or not. I explained to him the situation and asked him what his plan was. He told me I owed him for the burger. I told him to keep it and went to Burger King across the street and have never been back.
It's a place where they want to do as little as possible for the customer. Almost as if the customer is a nusiance. I agree with the other customers, the staff is generally disinterested in being there. But hang tight folks! They won't last much longer till they tire of the business and the next owner might return it to a local sports bar, but it will take awhile before the OLD customers come back.
My recommendation: Go somewhere else till these jokers wake up and realize that the bar bizz is customer service and customer relations...after all, there is a liqour store next door and those folks are very friendly.

How a sports bar should be! On a weekday afternoon there were plenty of mainstream and off brand sports playing: sportscenter, baseball, soccer, snowboarding... Lindsay was great working the bar and handling us at the table. The brisket & cheddar sandwich was great as was everything there!

for someone that has been going for almost a year, and brought them 12-15 people every time i went with my pool team, they treated us with utter disrespect. the new manager matt changed the way they work and now if you want anything you have to go to the bar to get service. My team and our guests have had to wait up to 45 minutes to get anyone to actually come serve us or take our orders. By far the worst service i have ever had.

The food here is typical bar food, not great but filling and pretty tasty. The only problem is the service. It is one of those ""seat yourself"" places which I am leery of. One of the last times I went there after work for a glass of wine and some food I walked in and seated myself as you do here. The bartender and one of the female servers looked right at me when I came in so I know they saw me. A family of about 6 came in after me and they were waited on before me. I sat and sat and sat, no one came around to inquire what I wanted. This went on for about 15 minutes and finally I flagged down the server who saw me come in and asked her who exactly was my server. She said she was and finally took my order. She was without a doubt the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting in my life! Don't know her name but she is young, dark haired and pretty. Never smiled, acted totally bored and unhappy to be working there. She never came back to ask if I wanted a refill on my wine. I did return again a few weeks later and had a much better server and much better experience. I watched the server I had on the previous bad experience and she was acting the same way, not smiling, very unfriendly!
