I have visited the Red Mountain Orchard on more than one occasion. I love the atmosphere and the haunted orchard they have around halloween and the apple cider is great. Unfortunately I had an experience there today that has forever made me a non customer of this establishment. I drove from Delta all the way to Cedaredge to get a few boxes of apples and visit their cute little shop where my best friend and I would have spent even more money buying their specialty goods. When we arrived, the sign on the door said OPEN, but the door was locked. Their was a sign on the door that read that they were only open in the afternoon, and that they were open in the mornings by appointment only. It was 1:20 in the afternoon so we thought for sure they were going to open soon. We waited for a few minutes and when we saw no one, my best friend decided she was going to see if anyone was at the house, to see what was up, were they opening soon? Or should we just leave and come back another time? She no sooner went through the front gate that the door flew open and a woman very rudely said, "I am not ready to open yet!" My best friend said "Oh the sign says you are open in the afternoon, we drove all this way, to get some of your apples.' The woman, began huffing to the door of the little store, saying " I know you drove ALL this way," again very rudely, and my friend said, "We just wanted to pick some apples.' This woman then yelled, "YOU DO NOT PICK YOUR OWN APPLES!" Well we thought maybe she was having a bad day so we began following her to the store. She got to the door unlocked it, threw open the door, slammed it shut, and then threw the open sign across the store. So we promptly got in our car, because we were not going to continue to be abused by this woman, and drove back down to Eckert and bought Apples from the Fritchman Orchard which was great and the people were wonderfully pleasant, and will now be receiving my business from now on. I will never drive to Cedaredge again to go to this Orchard. I will never spend a penny of my money there and I will tell everyone I know how we were treated. When you run a business you really should not bite the hand that feeds you so rudely. I will never return. I am sorry for this, because my kids were very excited to go there and have cider and enjoy the activities they provide there around Halloween time. But this experience has spoiled it.
p.s I only gave 1 star because I had to, or it would not post my review. Not because I think they deserve it. My real rating would be in the negative
