UPDATE: After seeing this review, Landon (Minyard's service manager) requested that I contact him. I did just that. He informed me that the plumber who came to our home was no longer with the company. He apologized profusely and worked to make it right. Although I admit that our experience was really bad, I believe that was truly the fault of the plumber. I admire Minyard for contacting me to find out more about what happened and having the integrity to make it right. Which they absolutely did make it right. I will call them next time I need any plumbing or AC work done, as I know that they care about their reputation and the work that they do.
After reading many good reviews (with a few negative), I decided to give Minyard a call to fix our broken water heater. We called in the morning and hoped to have a fix the same day, as my family had already gone one morning with no hot water. They said that someone would come within a few hours and they would call to let us know they were on the way. So far so good. The problem came when the technician showed up. My husband spoke with him and they both agreed it was probably one of two parts, as there are only a limited number of things it could be. So the least expensive part would likely be the best place to start and fix the problem. The technician said our water heater was still under warranty, so we just expected to pay for the labor. He left to get the part. Not long after he left, he called and said maybe we should just replace the whole thing. It's only 4 years old, so we were not interested in this option. He claimed they don't last that long. (it's still under warranty!!) We said, no fix it please. We waited... and waited... and waited. HOURS we waited (all on the clock by the way). Finally I called to check and he said he was near our house. Still another 30 minutes went by and no sign of him. At this point it's dark and well past the work day hours. We were upset as the labor charge was going to be very expensive and he had yet to do ANYTHING! He finally showed up and said it was traffic, he had to go across town to get the part and the part place was busy. Okay, NO WAY! So he finally starts working on the water heater. Come to find out, for reasons not explained, he choose to get the more expensive part to replace, even after my husband had spoken with him about replacing the other part first. The fix didn't work. No choice at this point but to come back tomorrow as everything is closed. My husband and I, our toddler and baby were without hot water for another day. The discussion about buying a new one comes up yet again. The next morning, my husband, (very upset at this point) calls the plumbing supply place in Round Rock (we are in Cedar Park), which is about 15 minutes from our house and they have the part that we need. The part that we thought was going to be replaced first. The part that had the technician did what he said he was going to, would have been back well within an hour, fixed the problem and left us with hot water that day. Not to mention the money we would have saved on labor! My husband goes down to the supply place, purchases the part, comes home and replaces the part himself. All within an hour! On top of ALL this, the technician didn't take the part he was going to replace with him to the supply store across town, so he said that we would need to pay them for the part, then take the part ACROSS TOWN and have them reimburse us for the warranty coverage. All in all, we had a bill over $400 that didn't fix anything, and had to take the part across town to get our money back for a part that didn't need to be replaced anyways. We were left angry, without hot water for 2 days and ended up having to fix it ourselves. Trust, honesty and doing what you say you are going to is paramount when hiring a plumber. If these things are important to you, as they are to us, don't hire Minyard!
I was looking for a plumber and read through these reviews. The most recent ones are positive but sound like a commercial. The older ones are negative. Then I noticed I can just type in a bogus email address and add a review. YP reviews are bogus so forget them. No clue what you will get but don't be fooled by false postings.

After calling another contract who wanted to dig up the entire sewer line for 6 to 8K we called Minyard & Sons Servcies. They come out on time gave an estimate of 1400 to 1800. 00 to fix my bath room toilet that would not drain. After checking with the camera and finding the sewer lines were clear and not breakes in the line they found that the piece that the toilet sits on was not attached to the drain line just sitting there and there was a 90 degree pipe that should not have been there. So that caused back ups in the toilet. They jack hammered a small section of floor (small then first thought) replaced the 90 with a straight piece and back filled the hole and cement then came back the next morning and cut pipe and reset toilet and came in why under estimate by about 500.00 and less time then thought it would take. Will recommend them for all your plumbing needs. Very couteous and careful not to damage carpets etc. Please call them 1st for all your plumbing needs..

All I can say about Minyard is that they know what they are doing. From the guy taking the call to the technician that came out to my house, they're all very courteous and well spoken. Not to mention they have a guy for just about anything, which was a nice surprise considering I needed a plumber and electrician at the same time. I genuinely recommend you give them a try and see for yourself. I know you’ll call them again once you do.

They are always the quickest to respond to any problem that you have and the work is always completed in a professional manner. They are the only company that I will use for all of my plumbing and electrical needs.

I called out Minyard for a couple misc. plumbing jobs. (loose faucet, leaking hose bib, as well as an estimate to replace my water heater) They came out the same day and were able to knock out all the items I had asked them to in a matter of minutets. Which would make anyone happy. They quoted me a more that fair price to replace my water heater and even set up the appointment to change it out right before he left. Its obvious that they care for their customers a lot, which is good to know these days.

I've asked these guys to come out twice for plumbing help and they've been bang on both times. The first was to fix a leaking shower and the second to assist in the install of a heavy iron sink. Both times they did perfect work and explained to my wife in great detail everything they did and why.
The bill wasn't nearly as much as I expected, either. It was certainly less than the other company that wanted to be paid to just come out and see if there was anything they could to in the first place. These guys came out and just billed straight time-and-materials at a decent rate for a professional service (not ""cheap"", but not your firstborn either).

Stay away from this company. They have a terrible attitude and don't care about customers or anyone else for that matter.
One of their Vans (probably their only one) nearly ran me off the road while speeding and talking on the phone. When I tried to talk to the company about it they simply hung up on me.
Didnt suprise me one bit when I looked them up online and saw other reviews saying what bad attitudes they had, and the plumbing supply place that confirmed they are deadbeats.

I have used Minyard twice this past year---once they came to fix my AC last summer and the service person was able to diagnose the problem (a blown capacitor) right away. I had just had my AC worked on by someone else a week before and it had broken again. Minyard fixed the problem and charged a very reasonable fee. They were prompt, courteous and efficient. I used them again this winter when my heater was malfunctioning. I had to cancel my appt 3 times due to my work schedule but they were cheerful about rescheduling the work and when they came they were again prompt and efficent and fixed the problem. My actual cost was about 50.00 less then they quoted me. They also offer a twice a year maintenance
program for a very reasonable fee which I intend to purchase so I can avoid sitting in a hot house waiting to get my AC fixed. I never felt I was ever being given the run around or taken advantage of. I will definitely call them again. I got their name from my father whom they did some work for and he was very happy with them and he's picky (especially about prices!).

I getting my house ready for a big party when I discovered that my kitchen sink was leaking. I found Minyard Plumbing's ad on the back of my phone book. I called them and they were able to send someone out to fix the leak the same day. Thankfully the leak was fixed before my friends showed up for the party. I just loved how they were able to send someone out to get the problem fixed so soon. I was afraid I would have a watery mess in my kitchen during the party. They did a great job fixing the leak- I haven't had any problems with it since.

I had a pipe in my kitchen burst over night, on a Saturday. I called Minyard & they were able to come out right away. The service tech was very knowledgeable & worked quickly. He got the job done. Their price was competitive and seemed in line with other companies I called.

I asked them to come over to give me a quote for some plumbing in a house I was buying and the guy that showed up was cocky and condescending and gave me a quote that ended up being 3 times more expensive than anyone else. I won't go back to them...ever.

I have been in a customer service position the majority of my life, so this may be biased. The job was a water softner installation. I was initially inpressed with the company thus I gave them my business. They were professional and the estimate was fairly priced. To begin my appointment was rescheduled to another day for first thing in the morning. Around 10am I called to find out where the the serviceman was. I will use the name ""John"" said he would find out and call me back. Thirty minutes later I called again and he said that the serviceman was in Dripping Springs and on his way to my house. Ok what time can I expect him? The reply was around noon. Well, around 1pm I called and now he was picking up parts. Finally he arrived, now that I had waited more than half of the day. The plumber was less than professional (not that he wasn't a real nice guy), smoking on the job, and left debri and butts around the worksite. So after taking a day off and sticking around I was extremely disappointed. So, after making all of the phone calls and cleaning up the jobsite I would recommend shopping around. The only positive remarks I have is that the price was fair and the work was good.

It just gets old talking $h1t. Rip-off artists liars whatever.
