Coconuts Of Cedar Key
Cedar Key FL
"We visited Cedar Key on Friday 6/12/09. We spent the afternoon with a rental golf cart, (very reasonable, $30.00 for the entire day) driving around the local shops and taking pictures. It was both a relaxing and informative afternoon, as Cedar Key holds a lot of history. As the sunset approached we decided to have dinner, as we had eaten earlier in the day in Chiefland at Dekes Steak House Restaurant (which by the way is THE BEST RESTAURANT in the entire area), we were getting hungry. We decided on The Rusty Rim Pub, and were not disappointed. It was Friday evening, (a little busy for this area when there are no events going on) and our server was Ashley, she was very attentive, informative of what was available, quick, and accurate. The food, (we decided on the prime rib, med. rare, which was cooked to perfection, baked potato, perfect as well, and a salad, we had nachos for an appetizer. The nachos were the only disappointment, the nachos were great, home made, but the salsa was out of a jar. The drinks were not a disappointment at all, they definitely had alcohol in them. The prime rib was $19.95, supposed to be 10 ozs. I believe it was closer to 12 or 14, I brought half mine away with me. On to Coconuts Of Cedar Key: This was an experience. I've lived up in the area for just under 5 years. It was the third time in that time period my husband and I decided to go out for drinks, this was our second time to visit Coconuts. The first time was an afternoon in May 09, and it was very relaxing, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere very relaxed and layed back. We sat out on the deck (both visits). The afternoon visit there were two couples fishing, enjoying their drinks while doing so, and everyone was very accepting of everyone elses company. The Friday night visit, there was a local band, they were fairly good, got better as the night progressed, they were very friendly and made everyone feel like they belonged there. We had met friends and all sat out on the deck, and enjoyed the music, some of the other people that were there, and our own conversation. The drinks were excellent and the servers very friendly. It was an all round great experience. This is a low key area, don't go here looking for the kind of food or service you would expect in a bigger city, these are laid back country people who enjoy what they do and work for a living. Love ya Cedar Key. "
