Dr Carter. when in his old office was fair and not excessively pricey. Last week I
took my dog to the new Dr. Carter office, my dog was seen by Dr.Taylor Homec,
The bill came to $272.00 plus an extra cost of $57,00 for fecal exam. My dog was told by our groomer that he had an impaction, Dr. Homec examined him and said he did not, he then put him on an antibiotic and did an x-ray. We were in there 20 minutes. I asked if all the vets charged the same and was told "Yes." I will not go back, we were really taken at such ridiculous high cost. What crooks.

Brought my dog in for treatment. Called the office when she took a turn for the worse. No answer between 8 am and 10 am, just a machine. Went to another vet. Our beloved dog was then put down. Absolutely not recommended. Look at yelp.com reviews on their telephone non availability.

DEZERAY IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCARING SHOULD NOT BE AT YOUR FRONT DESK DEALING WITH PEOPLE.

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Carters Office for many years and have always been very satisfied but I have had some concerns since the move to the new office and the issue that put me over the top was with your front desk girl DEZERAY. A week prior to my appointment I had my dog "Porkchop" in for his yearly shots. Since he is a small dog and he needed three shots the Vet. recommended splitting up the shots and having my dog come back the following week for his rabies shot. My dog is very nervous (Chihuahua) and shakes a lot which he was doing the first trip and the second trip. Also each trip we have to take off an hour from work. When we arrived we were told that they were out of the shots and we would have to set up another appointment and come back. I had all ready paid for this shot during my previous visit. DEZERAY kept saying "I'm Sorry" while I was talking to her not listening to what I was saying, she then began saying I'm sorry in a monotone voice and then a sing-song voice, not creating eye contact and darting her glances everywhere but at me in what I thought was an attempt to taunt me. When I asked why we were not called to tell us not to come in I was told by DEZERAY that it was Lori's fault and that I needed to call her back and deal with her.

I decided at this time to leave this clinic and find another one to go to. Now I have 4 dogs that go to Carter's and 5 other dogs that I sponsor and pay for their bills. On a good year I spend $2,500 at Carter's and in a bad year it could go as high as $4,500. DEZERAY did not try at all to dissuade me when I told her I was leaving, did not appear to care that someone who has been with Carter's for years was walking out the door to never come back.

I personally feel that the office has grown but Carter's has not grown with the office. What attempt they have done to address this issue has been futile. The new front desk person DEZERAY shows that they are not hiring the right people. They have a large overhead and have started an automated phone system which makes it very difficult to talk to a real person and not get dumped into someone's voicemail.

NOW HERE IS CARTER'S SAVING GRACE.

Dr. Eddy who has been mostly the person taking care of my dogs for the last three years called me the following day to express his concerns over my treatment by their receptionist. The day after that Lori called me to express her concerns and stated that she wishes that I would not leave.

Dr. Eddy even told me that he would assist me in finding another Vet. if I decided not to come back. I was very impressed by this and it gave me a lot to think about.

We have decided to give Carter's one last chance because of Lori and Dr. Eddy. Hopefully DEZERAY will learn from the professionals that she works with who have great customer service skills, who don't have attitude and who don't blame others for problems that are going on without an attempt to correct it. DEZERAY needs to remember that if Carter's has no customers she has no paycheck

This review about my experience in trying to make an appointment for my two dogs. I am new to Cathedral City having very recently moved from the midwest. I selected Carter Animal Hospital based on the strength of the reviews read here. I am appalled at how difficult it is to make voice phone contact with this business and the complete lack of customer service I experienced.

My attempts at reaching a live person in reception have been futile. The first time I called I left a message, but no one called me back. I tried over the course of several days and at different times of day and still received voicemail. On my 6th try I finally struck gold and spoke to a person and made an appointment.

A few days later I called back, because I wanted information about transferring my dogs medical records from their vet in Chicago. I tried over 4 business days and every single time I call I ended up in voice mail. I left a message, but the call was never returned.

I came to the conclusion that if this is the service I experience when I'm a prospective customer, what would it be like later. I decided to take the dogs to another veterinarian. I called Carter Animal Hospital to cancel my appointment, and ending up in voice mail, left a message.

I followed up with both email to complain about my experience, but they have not responded to either of these.
