Previously, we were limited to a two dimensional picture of a three dimensional problem. There were many things we could not see because dental X-rays did not have the resolution to show them. Despite our best efforts, we were forced to infer, project, surmise, calculate, and interpret. Often, we could only give our best educated guess based on what we could see on the X-ray. Additionally, X-rays were often just not sensitive enough to show very small or the beginning signs of problems.

X-rays

*Please alert the our office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.) or require medication prior to dental cleanings (i.e antibiotics, for pre-med.)

Ultrasound uses sound waves to provide imagery of the bodys tissues at varying depths. However, endodontists can now use hand-held ultrasound technology, in which powerful ultrasonic waves are used to not only detect the surface locations of canals, but also to prepare the tooth root for a retrograde filling and to removed composite resins, calcified canals, and posts. Use of endodontic ultrasound has been prevalent for many decades, but only recently has it become useful for endo-restorative and microrestorative work. Back
Crowns
After the tests are complete, a diagnosis will be given and Dr. Campbell will discuss your treatment options. Dr. Campbell will make you aware of the benefits, options and risks involved in order for you to understand how endodontic treatment can relieve your pain and save your tooth. Possible post-treatment decisions such as a crown on the treated tooth also will be addressed. It is sometimes necessary to have additional x-rays taken in order to provide a three dimensional view of the tooth/s in question. Your endodontic consultation will be completed prior to the initiation of any treatment. Be sure to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your treatment.

Root Canal Treatment
As far as websites go we have been www.caryendo.com for over 20 years. But Dr. Odom (previous Endodontist) did not use this name in his everyday business. When Dr. Campbell took over the practice, the website name CARY ENDO became the new "doing business as" name. Over the past 6 years there have been confusions with a few businesses in the area, namely Cary "Endodontics", Cary Endocrine and Cary Endoscopy (who currently have huge "Cary Endo" sign on the outside of their building).
