My baby died early one morning and I rushed her to the vet to have my beloved pet cremated using their animal cremation service, which just happened to be Toothacres. I dropped her body off around 10:30 that morning, and then contacted the vet clinic that evening around 5. They told me that someone from Toothacres called and said they couldn’t pick her body up that day because the clinic was not on their route that day. It was almost 24 hours after she passed before they could pick her up from the vet. She passed away on a Thursday early morning so there was no reason someone couldn’t have made a trip and pick her body up. The level of disrespect for my fur child was more than I could handle. It caused so much distress to me knowing that my baby would have to lay in the clinic overnight and that whole day I dropped her off without being refrigerated since the vet does not have the equipment for that. I will never use this company EVER again!!!! And let’s not forget it took almost two weeks to get my baby’s cremations back. NEVER AGAIN!!! If you love your fur child, then find somewhere else to have them cremated, not here. They could care less about your feelings, just your money.
We recently toured this facility because we are searching for a daycare for our new puppy. We weren't impressed from the moment we pulled up. The place appeared very run down on the outside with dark windows (I originally posted no windows, but this was incorrect). When we walked in, it was very dark and smelled bad. I know...there's dogs around so it should smell somewhat, but not an overpowering smell of urine. The rooms that the kennels are in are very small and cramped, and again, dark. This may be a personal preference thing, but I know my dog would be very uncomfortable in those rooms. The dogs that were playing outside looked happy to be there, but the dogs inside were less than thrilled. The entire place was just very dark and run down appearing. Not bright and happy like I would expect. We walked past one kennel with 2 small dogs. She made the comment that one was happy and the other didn't like it here and bit her. Well, it just so happens the owner showed up at that time and when she walked the dogs out, they couldn't get to their mom fast enough! She then proceeded to tell the owner that they had done great and she just loved them. She mentioned that one bit her, but just brushed it off and said how he was her favorite.... If my dog bit someone, I would want to be notified immediately. I wouldn’t want them just placed in a kennel until I showed up that afternoon. We just had a really uneasy feeling while we were there, and after talking to other people and our vet, several said they have heard bad things and would not recommend them... We love our dogs like our children and when my instincts give me a bad feeling, I listen to them. I would like to say that I am not saying the dogs there are abused in anyway, I did not notice anything thing that made me think they are mistreated, but the dogs didn't look happy to be there and I want my puppy to love going to daycare!!
I had a very bad experience in December. I had 3 dogs that needed to be boarded. The 3 red dog is 13 years old so I had to lift him out of the SUV. Mary told be they only take healthy dogs. I explained I had never heard of this. I told the staff he was older. I had a non refundable flight that left out of state in the morning. She was RUDE and would not take my older dog but I could check him into a 24 hour vet. I was so upset. Then on the way back from my trip I said I would pick my 2 other dogs up in the morning. They quoted me a price. When I got there they tried to charge me addtional $50.00. I WILL NEVER go back again. Rude staff. Dishonest in there price and only take young healthy dogs? Never heard such a thing!
We first dropped Sampson off here when we were leaving for vacay and our original hotel cancelled on us! They are great for last minute boarding and a wonderful daycare itself!
